TomVH: Kyle Kalis Comments on the Rumors Surrounding his Commitment

Submitted by TomVH on

Once the news broke that the NCAA didn't find any new infractions with the Ohio State case naturally everyone turned their thoughts to recruiting. How would this affect any prospects that are considering Ohio State, and more relavent to Michigan how would it affect Kyle Kalis?

There has been some scuttlebutt among Ohio State fans that Kalis would eventually switch back to the Buckeyes despite the fact that a good amount of their fans trashed him on the internet for making the switch in the first place.

Kalis has been saying all along that he is solid to Michigan and won't re think his decision no matter what happens with the sanctions at Ohio State. Today he had this to say about the situation:

Despite all the speculation about the limited sanctions that Ohio State will receive, I've grown to love Michigan too much to ever consider going back. I'm excited to get up there next season and to start what I know is going to be a new chapter in Michigan history, and with the amazing class that my head coach Brady Hoke is putting together.

Pretty strong words for a soon to be high school senior. When I brought the topic up he laughed and said none of it was true. There's always speculation that happens with recruiting, and I never say never but this should reassure Michigan fans on where Kalis stands on his recruitment.

Kalis has also been recruiting for Michigan, and has already started to build friendships with his future fellow classmates.

Very nice to hear. I love how he laughed at the comments being made. He'll be a great player and student here, and let's hope his recruiting pays off! (looking at you, Dunn)

Love to see a guy start to develop a passion for Michigan.  Those are the kind of players we want.  Lay it on the Line, all out, hard core, true blue through and through...  "Its all 'bout Blue Baby, Its all 'bout Blue"

When a kid commits from the 50-yard line, he's not wavering...he's a Wolverine.  It's going to be great to watch this team grow and see both sides of the line dominating the game.

Love how he says he's grown to love Michigan to much to reconsider. Is say he's pretty solid. Now all he has to do is deliver Dunn on a silver platter and He ll be a God.

I've read 100 Kalis quotes now but I still get surprised whenever I hear him talking about michigan like that. I had initially thought he was a home-grown buckeye that would never consider michigan and now the #1 player in ohio/former OSU commit is recruiting other players for us. it's been a good summer

Inelegantly phrased by me. I guess I am. I'm happy if he feels that way, but it just seems weird to me that after two 1 day visits he feels that way. Maybe it's just me, I probably couldn't have said I loved Michigan until after a couple months of school when I went there.

I think it's pretty normal.  I used to work in the admissions field, and once a kid gets through the emotional tug of war of picking a school, it's not uncommon for them to think it's the BEST SCHOOL EVER.     There might be miniscule differences between two schools, but the student who has paid his or her enrollment deposit at one can readily name 581 reasons why the other one is a vastly poorer fit.  I think some students  have an emotional need to validate their choice through hyperloyalty.  It's kind of sweet, actually.

It can't be all that different for athletes.  When you commit, you go all in.

WE DODGED A BULLET WITH THIS KID.  GOOD RIDDANCE.

Oh, and they think he should not get a 5th star cause of character issues.  Kalis is going to be a fuckin' beast.

Lets piss off he kid who already plays pissed off.

That's smart.

Thanks for reaching out to Kyle, Tom.  Good to have you on our side.  Kalis sounds like a passionate kid.  Can't wait to see him in a Michigan uniform annihilating fools.

I got this GEM from a buckeye board:

"Kalis is highly over-rated. Watch his tape and then watch the tape of the top 5 or 6 tackles in the country and you will see the difference in athleticism is large. Kalis isn't an explosive blocker and doesn't run well. He has been coached well so he can pass block but his limited athleticism means he will be a right tackle at best. Watch the video of Peat or Kyle Murphy and then you will plainly see that Diamond and Kalis are not top tier tackles."

Keep spinning it...

We are very fortunate as proud Michigan fans to have a young man like this commit to the school we love so dearly. He is very well spoken and I have no doubt those words will translate into success on the field. I love how he emphasized "MY HEAD COACH BRADY HOKE." That sounds like a dagger right there, piercing into the hearts and minds of everyone that will have to face Kyle and the rest of the Big Blue in the future.

How much Columbus sucks.  Ohio kids love the dickless place until exposed to the wonders of.........Ann Arbor...........UM......Go Blue.  A real college campus........a real university education......academic excellence.

And D. Long.......eat my dong too.

While he is an OSU homer, he is also regarded as a very good scout of OH talent. At least until recently. He considers Jarrod Wilson the best centerfield FS in the state, is high on Wormley, Stacy, and has been critical of OSU recruiting early this year. Maybe the beat down OSU has taken this year on the trail has changed him a little recently because he has kind of stopped the rational thinking in my opinion.

This is awesome and I agree with the Duane Long having to eat a dick.

His hypocrisy is amazing.  When osu lands a low three star recruit with no offers they got a "steal."  What a joke.

I posted this on 11w and got the ban hammer :

and was banned for this opinion :

Michigan has been in the lead for potential 5 star recruit Jordan Diamond for some time now, not to mention his mother just adores the university and is always looking for an excuse to visit. Michigan has obviously been spoiled by the riches of talented OL commits from the class of 2012, and if Jordan D is not afraid of competition then I don't see him wavering.

nOsu still has the uncertainty of the future coach to deal with and a number of pundits seem to believe that Coach Fecal will not be the guy, as he represents an era of great shame. I don't know how nOsu escaped the failure to monitor charge, but that's some decent acting I gotta admit. November 26 can't come soon enough...

Man it feels good to be a fan of the Maize and Blue! Go Blue...
