TomVH: Iowa Visitors

Submitted by TomVH on

Here's the list of recruits I have confirmed coming in for the Iowa game. As always, this list will have names added and dropped as it gets closer to game day. I'm going out of town from Thursday until Monday though, so there won't be much if anything from me until Monday. Please refrain from making the, "Yeah, but what about defensive recruits?!" comments. Just because there aren't many visiting for this game doesn't mean Michigan isn't recruiting them; they are.

  • TE Drew Owens - 6'5", 225 lbs, 3 Star, Charlotte, North Carolina
  • DB Dallas Crawford - 5'10", 185 lbs, 3 Star, Fort Myers, Florida
  • WR Sammy Watkins - 6'1", 180 lbs, 4 Star, Fort Myers, Florida
  • WR Hakeem Flowers - 6'2", 175 lbs, 3 Star, Greenville, South Carolina
  • WR Quinta Funderburk - 6'5", 204 lbs, 3 Star, Chesapeake, Virginia
  • QB Kevin Sousa - 6'3", 210 lbs, 3 Star, Lake Nona, Florida (Commit)

2012

  • RB Will Mahone - 5'11", 205 lbs, Austintown, Ohio (He confirmed he will be there)
  • DB Luc Haupt - 6'0", 180 lbs, Austintown, Ohio
  • DB Chris Davis - 5'10", 183 lbs, Austintown, Ohio
  • QB Demitrious Davis - 5'10", 183 lbs, Austintown, Ohio

There will be more 2012 kids added to the list soon. I'm still trying to confirm some, so keep checking back later tonight and tomorrow.

I know we are recruiting many defensive players but I won't be satisfied until we have signed SEVERAL more stud db's and lb's.  I would frankly prefer that the rest of the class be on the defensive sife except for 1 or 2 OL's.

some defensive folks.  I'm currently watching the 97 Iowa.UMgame on ESPN classics.  Were down 20-7.  Got gashed on a 61 yrd run, we have fumbled when driving, thrown a pick @ the goalline....looking like the MSU game Sat.  Point is, we can still bounce back and beat Iowa, but I have toagreewith whatI hear Brian Griese say every weekend, "Defense wins campionships..Let's go!

Drew Owens is a TE I'd love to get.  He's just outside of being a 4 star (he's the #19 TE to Rivals and #17 is a 4 star).  He has a top 5 of us, UNC, NC State, Clemson and USC (NTUSC).  Clearly, we are the geographic outlier, but the good news is thay Clemson and UNC both have TEs already committed in this class.  Bad news is the USC(NTUSC) just knocked off the #1 team in the country.

Scout is reporting that Ohio DE/TE Austin Traylor will also be in attendance this weekend for an official visit. He is a three star #77 DE in the country according to scout (http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=4737899) and for rivals he is a four star (#214 in the country), 9th ranked weak side DE, and top 10 in Ohio (http://rivals.yahoo.com/stanford/football/recruiting/player-Austin-Traylor-106929).
