Spring Game Miniprogram

Submitted by Lanyard Program on

well, the spring game is here and whether you are there in person or watching at home, there will be some confusion with familiar faces gone and fresh faces arrived. as you can see on the right margin, there is some work to do to get fully up and running, so all comments and criticisms are welcome.

special for this miniprogram, the opponent's tidbits, roster and key players are removed in favor of some broad UM factoids. also, the roster has many empty spots reserved for fall's freshmen, who are listed but, with the exception of early enrollees, will not be participating.

What's the numerical cutoff?  Countess started 8/12 regular season games last year and the Sugar Bowl. Does that not make him a returner?

Edit: Also, this is awesome. Thanks for doing it.

One typo: you have no second-string offensive tackles listed. We have to have back-ups, right?

Wait... right?

on the MGoDepthChart above, which is where this is cribbed from, Kalis is shown as both backup tackles. since he is not going to be in the spring game, i left him off of this. there are some walk-on type fellows such as Glasgow and Gunderson who i think can play there, but until the calvary gets here, that is all there is.

hence, no spring "game"

We've missed you, Lanyard. Thanks for posting. Although I won't be making the trip back to Michigan, I'll have it open in a tab watching it on BTN (it's on BTN again, right?).

Spring Game History Notes:

Maize (formerly known as White) team has won 3 out of the past 5 games, but the Blue team has won the past two.

The Blue teams leads the all-time series 27-26. Last year they took the series lead from Maize/White after losing it in 2009.

Scores from past 10 games:

2001   White 28  Blue 21

2002   White 27  Blue 17

2003  Cancelled due to field being torn out and replaced in summer with FieldTurf

2004   Blue  24  White 20

2005   Blue  34  White 18

2006   Blue 30   White 25

2007   White 42  Blue 41

2008   White 23  Blue 19    (Invite-only spring game held at Saline HS due to Michigan Stadium rennovations

2009   White 73  Blue 32

2010   Blue 49   Maize 37

2011   Blue 14   Maize 7

Prediction: Blue team is the 1st team offense and 2nd team defense. Maize team is the 2nd team offense and the 1st team defense. Matt Wile hits the game-winning FG on the last play to give Maize the 17-14 win in an upset, and the series gets knotted up at 27-27.
