Sportsbook Releases College Football O/U Wins

Submitted by save_me_forcier on

Sportsbook recently released their O/U on wins for the upcoming colllege football season. http://www.sportsbook.com/livesports/indexmember.php?sportsname=football

Some lines of note...
Wisconsin: Over 8.5 (+135) Under (-170)
@OSU should be a loss, vs MSU and @Minn will most likely generate another loss. Vs Mich vs Iowa and @NW could easily bring out 2 more losses as well. I believe fresno state is decent this year also and could be an upset possibility. That being said I think the -170 line will scare many people away.

Notre Dame: Over 8.5 (-160) Under (+130)
USC=loss, @UM and vs MSU will be at least one loss i believe and possibly two. I believe this ND team is over-rated but there just isn't much on the schedule other than the 3 games i mentioned. But with the +130 line I think it could be a decent bet that they could drop a game like @Pitt or BC...

Michigan: Over 7 (+105) Under (-135)
I know a lot of people are being uber-cautious with their expectations but I see us going 6-6 as basically the lowest realistic possibility unless app st/toledo michigan-hating god is present every saturday, which is possible i suppose.

EMU, Ind, Del St.= if we lose any of those (knock on wood) a bet will be the least of my worries. WMU and Purdue, very unlikely that we lose both, I think most likely we take both. MSU is 20 times more win-able than any spartan fan will have you think, and Iowa is a winnable game as well. I personally expect a victory over ND this year based on the premise that we might have beaten them with Threetidan in South Bend last year if we didn't fumble the ball 9,548 times. In the big house and with forcier/denard I like our chances.
Between the 8 games already mentioned the most likely win number is 6 with 7 more likely tthan 5. @Wisc, @Ill, PSU, OSU I think more likely generates a win than doesn't. I think a push is pretty likely here but I personally see 8 as more likely than 6. I love the +105 on this bet as well.

Anyone else find any games they like or have any thoughts?

I have never gambled before so please excuse my stupidity on the subject but what do the positive or negative numbers mean next to the win total?

... I agree that WMU, EMU, Del ST., IU, and Purdue are wins. @ Wisco. does not scare me at all... I think they are in for a 5-7 type season. Still a 50/50 because it's on the road @Ill, @MSU, ND are 50/50 games PSU, @Iowa, OSU, probably 0-3 That would be 8-4. Book It!!! However, they have their futures bets out for College Football: UM +2 Notre Dame UM +4 MSU UM +7 Illinois UM +3 Wisconsin UM +5 Penn St. UM +6 OSU

I'd say the opposite: LOVE the USC line, tempted on the ND spread... Now, please help me retrieve my money from the unwilling hands of Sportsbook. Last time I tried to withdrawal my profits they said there was some error and couldn't process my request. I wasn't too pressed so I kept my money on the site and then, right on cue, proceeded to lose all my profits on parlays that didn't hit. I just now requested another withdrawal of most of my remaining funds. If I run into the same issues as before will you help me get my moneys back? Thanks.

Its offense vs our defense in the first game of the season could go horribly wrong. Then, ND's passing attack vs our pass defense the next week will look pretty scary. Of course, we all WANT Michigan to win both of those games, but, I think we should be content with a split and delighted with a sweep. Even with a split, home games vs. EMU, Indiana, Delaware St & Purdue appear very winnable. Throw in a win @ MSU, @ Wisconsin or other and we're in a bowl game at 6-6. I would be ecstatic with a 7-5 record, which so many have predicted, but does anybody remember last year? Our offense should be much improved, but our D is scar, scary, scary.

O/U was 8.5. I would bet the under here. Their OL is very inexperienced. The D should be OK but I think the heart and soul of that team exited with RR and Pat White.

I don't see WVU's O/U released yet. (It is a weird smattering of teams - probably the ones most likely to draw action.) However, if it is indeed 8.5, I would be there is a pretty heavy (-) on the under. For example - LSU has O/U at 9, but a (-160) on the under, so the under is favored heavily. I'm waiting to see some straight up (even odds) O/Us set. This set is a bit more difficult to determine because you're also playing the +/-.

One thing to keep in mind: Notre Dame is not overrated. That team lit up our defense last year not with the normal slow players you usually see in the gold helmet. Their backs and wide outs were faster and in many cases more athletic than our CBs and LBs and it showed in how many big plays we gave up. Yes, our D was absolutly horrible last year but you can't deny their talent. They haven't really gotten worse since last year except a few departures from their wide out. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they easily hit the over.

Agreed. It's a bit of a stretch to say their offense lit us up last year. We outgained them in both yards passing and yards rushing. That being said, I agree they're not overrated...yet.:) I think they have some pretty big deal receivers, and I'm interested to see how potent their offense is this season.
