A Song for the Season - 2011

You might recall that last year about this time, I wrote a song for the season, lyrics to Don McLean's American Pie. I felt the creative urge this year and Ive hit the legal pad again. Last year we were coming off a horrible, messy offseason, and something uplifting with a deeper message felt right. This year, Hoke has been recruiting so well and we're getting so much press, I'm feeling the rockstar vibe.
To the tune of Walk this Way - Aerosmith:
Brand new sideline mayor, always pointin’ at the players
And a new coordinator or two.

Power O and a 4-3 under, too!
Now got Lace under center sendin’ some folks on a bender
Of the shotgun spread do they reminisce
But the best advanced metrics like arcade game Tetris
Don’t matter if you don’t got wins,

Recruitin’ class screamin’ while the Buckeyes keep on sinking
And the crowd standin’ on their chairs

at our Irish little sisters at the Big House
In the cool night air!
So we took a big chance, getting Hoke, weird romance
Didn’t know if he was ready to lead!
Had us all gone foolin’, Yeah he took us for some schoolin’
Seems that he knew what he was doin ‘ indeed

It was a three year nightmare, team goin’ nowhere
Missin’ times of “ol’ back then”!
The future was fast but let’s leave it in the past,
not think where we could have been,
