Rosenberg on Radio in Kzoo
The shocker: when asked whether players had approached him about the alleged violations or if he had uncovered the story himself, Rosenberg said that he was not approached by any players directly, past or present, but that through the course of talking with Michigan players he ascertained that the program might be in violation of NCAA rules, and follow-up interviews confirmed his suspicions.
I'll repeat that: Rosenberg said that no players came to him with reports of NCAA violations. He had to ask.
Now, from the way this article was written, any logical reader would assume that there was great dissent and unrest within the Michigan program, and that players on the team had come forward to tell the Free Press about violations. But based on Rosenberg's interview, that was not so. Not even ex-players with an axe to grind came forward with allegations, they simply corroborated the details of the Free Press' findings.
Now, this does not mean that Michigan has not broken or severely "strained" the rules. They may have. But that has not been the big story here. As we all know, the story has been that current players went to the press about violations, which many have been quick to declaim as "crybaby" behavior and signs of program discord. Based on Rosenberg's interview, that didn't happen.
I was absolutely shocked at the seeming irrelevance with which Rosenberg made this statement. It was also telling to hear the show's host remind Rosenberg that during past interviews he had admitted to being "critical" of Rodriguez, which Rosenberg acknowledged while refusing to provide specific reasons for his feelings.
Also, when asked how many current players he had interviewed on the topic of violations, Rosenberg said he could not remember(!!!).
One last note: at no point during the 20-some minute interview did Mike Rosenberg say that he'd written the story or pursued the topic for the safety or health of the athletes. I thought this would have been an easy, albeit somewhat absurd, justification for the story; to claim that it was newsworthy to protect student athletes from NCAA-banned overwork. But obviously that was so far from Rosenberg's mind and his rationale for writing this piece that he didn't think to bring it up.
Rosenberg < Justin Boren < Tony Clemons < Jim Harbaugh
Your logic implies that Justin Boren > used tampon.
used dousche > justin boren > or = used tampon
When i get into more detail on my list of value the scale of diffrence becomes much more clear.
the keyword is players. He was tipped off by somebody in the athletic dept who shares his feelings. After that, all it took was ambushing freshmen and talking to unsatisfied transfers to assemble "evidence" that this was happening.
I really don't think he was "tipped off". The way I see it is that he talked to a bunch of random players who informed him how much they were working out. He did enough research to learn there was a 4 and 20 rule, did some quick math, and then set out to prove himself right. He called around to a few former players who admitted they spent all day on football, tricked a few freshman into saying the same thing, got a huge boner and decided he and Snyder were going to be Woodward and Berstein.
I think you're giving him far too much credit. I don't think these was anything innocent in his motivation re:this article. I would imagine it was motivated completely through hate of RR. I think it becomes more obvious in the response article he wrote about MSU being in compliance with all rules. The "MSU doesn't cheat, their players said so." article.
I heard many of the same accounts. Of course this will never make any main-stream media outlets and only be privy to the faithful blue masses. Hopefully this is apparent to the team and those in the administration.
Maybe all of this will be a fire-starter for total and utter destruction this season. They all really have something to prove right now. I'm the first to admit my bias toward 'M' athletics, and I try to be as objective as I can knowing that fact. This story, the shadiness of the authors, and the implications to my sacred football team actually hurts me personally, for probably the very first time. My chest actually has a sinking feeling and a tickle. I'm so enraged if this happens to be unequivocally false, especially as I thought we were on the brink of success (or a movement toward that endpoint).
I hope the football team feels it too, and brings a world of hurt (and many, many points) to WMU. I want them to be our rallying point. No one leaves unscathed. I'm hurt, so let's hurt them (no offense to you Bronco fans, you're just the first of many in my way). From this point on until Saturday I will be seeing red, blood boiling, teeth clenched, fists ready. As I tailgate on Saturday, nothing will keep my thoughts from this rage, and as I walk through that gate that I have done so many times before, I will bring that rage with me and to my seat, where I will proceed to unleash it for 60 minutes. And as that team jumps through that banner, I hope they feel the same way I do. That is our solidarity. And with me, them, and 100,000+ brethren sharing that common rage, I hope all of it is left on that field, and we leave breathless, voiceless, massively victorious, yet hungrier for more.
"I heard many of the same accounts. Of course this will never make any main-stream media outlets and only be privy to the faithful blue masses."
I agree completely and that is really unfortunate. Say nothing ever comes of this and we are cleared, there will be a little announcement. RR's name will be tarnished as most will ignore the fact that nothing else happened. People that are fans of other teams will not pay the kind of attention to this that we have, and if we try to explain all of the factors that went into this, it will sound like making excuses. They will think we are rationalizing and there will be no winning any argument about it.
Boren = many (in an unspecified manner as per Rosenberg) tampons. Used, of course.
The douchebag was also on Columbus 97.1 this morning... Herbstreit actually took him to task a bit about using freshman as unknowing sources..
and that flustered Rosenberg...it was great!
after that though, they settled in and kissed Rosendouches ass.
Supposedly rosendouche and bruce hoooley are "great friends"
clips are on their website
Yes he was also on the Big Show with Chris Spielman and admitted that he went after the freshman like a lion goes after a gazelle because he knew they were the naive ones who he could trick into talking. What shocked me though listening to Spielman was how he almost sounded as if he was defending RichRod. He definitely said the rule is bs and said that he disagreed with how Rosenberg went after the freshman.
I like Chris Spielman as much as I'm able to like any Buckeye. Stand up dude.
