Official* Unveiling of the MGoShirts, Fall 2012 Edition

Submitted by Six Zero on

ANN ARBOR--  The fashion world is abuzz with enthusiasm after images of the 2012 Fall MGoShirt line were leaked last night.  Less than twenty four hours after MGoBlog member and reported WikiLeaks contributor JeepinBen* published the images, UGP and designer Six Zero are proud to unveil the offerings with this official press release.

Without further ado, then, please welcome the MGoShirt 2012 Fall Collection (To get a closer look, or to order a shirt, please click on the corresponding image):

EATIN'

A bold and stylish ode to culinary delight, this tee celebrates the hunger we all feel as the season draws nearer... and the feast we shall all enjoy starting September 1st.  Available in S-3XL.

The Flow, Brunettes, and more after THE JUMP!

GO WITH THE FLOW

Fashion, of course, goes hand in hand with Flow.  This bold thomage of follicular glory is certainly business in the front and party in the back.  Available in S-3XL.

KICKER GIRL

This year the MGoStore caters exclusively to Ann Arbor's finest raven-haired ladies with this clever nod to brunettes.  But if blondes have more fun, they're welcome to don this tee as well.  And if redheads break all the rules, I'm sure we won't be able to stop them either.  Available in American Apparel Ladies Tri-Blend S-XL.

ROLLIN'

The Twosie.  Indubitably there cannot be grander sport than frolicking down the cobblestoned thoroughfares of dear Ann Arbor on a tandem bicycle with your fondest mate, right?  This tee's style was designed to mimic 60's counter-culture posters and tour shirts.  Available in S-3XL.

WINNINGEST

Visual proof that words don't have to be real to be the truth.  This shirt is a tribute to over a century of excellence and the passionate defense of that noble title.  Available in S-3XL.

All shirts are available in the MGoStore starting today!!!

Gear up for Season 133 and GO BLUE!!!

*I am quite sure JeepinBen is in no way affiliated with WikiLeaks.

His Dudeness, maybe, and certainly Blazefire, but not JeepinBen.

Six Zero here.... Obviously this year's line focuses more on quality than quantity, but that's not for a lack of effort.  Every year we produce many designs, and only the strongest and most marketable creations are what end up on the racks, in your hands, and in the stands year after year.

With that being said, we have a few alternate designs that ended up 'on the fence.'  We're not sure if they work or if they'd sell, and so we thought it might be fun to let you, the MGoBlog community, decide for yourselves.  Some admittedly land higher on the fence than others, but I and UGP would love to hear your feedback, and if there's one or more that YOU JUST NEED TO SEE put in the store, SPEAK UP and that's what'll happen.  Make us make them!!

So without further ado, here's some of the runners-up of the 2012 MGoShirt Line:

WHEN YOU'RE ON

(FRONT)

(BACK)

You know, the song and all.  It still seems to be a rallying cry around these parts and beyond.  Plus shirts with profanity, even the simulated kind, are cool in a dangerous kinda way.

UNRETIRED

Meh.  Tried to hard to make an idea work, I think.  My take is that if you have to explain to someone what your shirt would mean, you probably won't buy it.  Or you're just weird and you like it that way.

MAKE THE WORLD

You know, if the UM alumni, student body, fan base and a certain quarterback went back in time to the Napoleonic era, I'm pretty sure we could take on England.  And win.

ERMAHGERD

Version 1

Version 2

I.... there's nothing really more to say, is there?

and finally, the Upton concept.

We thought we'd try to tackle the phenomenon of, well, 'Upton,' and why her choice in college football teams makes our college football team better.  They're kinda weird, and probably a little too tasteless for my taste, but it was fun designing them.  Yes, especially the last one.  What do you guys think?  Would you buy 'em?

UPTON VER. 1

Simply stated, one of the things our fan base has going for it.

UPTON VER. 2

This is for you, tasteless frat boy crowd!!! Huh huh, huh huh

UPTON VER. 3

Look closely.  There's a word in there.

So at the very least there's an inside look at some of the other designs that did not make the final cut.  And if you think some of these are less tradtitional, rest assured this barely touches the iceberg in comparison some of the designs that have failed in years past (I'm looking at you, TPryor Voodoo Doll!)

By all means I invite any and all criticism (here's looking at you, my old friend who down-votes every single post I have ever created and I know always will) and any other suggestions or commentary you'd like to contribute to the cause.  All of the final shirts should be available for sale by the time I post this article, as are several other proud offerings of the MGoStore!!

I'm willing to give you all a pass for the first week, but let's see these in the crowd by the Air Force game before the commercial breaks!!

GO BLUE!! BEAT BAMA

Is awesome and I like either version.  The first is really growing on me though.  I hope you don't make the Upton shirts as they're kind of embarrassing in a comics-fanboy-at-GenCon way.  Yeah, we all agree she's hot.  But if you have to wear it on your shirt it just raises more questions than it answers, you know what I'm saying?  Don't try so hard, dudes.  Or dudettes (nttawwt).

Oh, and I may also go for the Twosie and Winningest.  Nice job 6-0.

I think that the "Making the World Michigan" and the "Sometimes when you're on" shirts are awesome, would love to buy either of those. also would consider buying "winningest" and the unretired number one.

That would be fantastic; I love the Worst State Ever Shirt... I've been thinking about buying one to wear around Dayton.

Even though it offended me greatly, I had to laugh when a vendor outside of the horseshoe was selling shirts that said, "Ann Arbor is a Whore." That was just wrong.

Did anyone go to the Natl. Championship Parade in '97 ('98 actually); they had these shirts that had "Michigan is" and a hand motioning #1 on the front  & on the back it said the same thing about Nebraska... using a different hand motion...

I came to say something about this potentially stepping on the toes of Tae's Hope for Pahokee, but you MGoFaithful did me proud up there and already mentioned it.

Ermahgerd version 1 must happen.  I'll buy 7 just to make sure I have shirts to wear when I'm 80 and the meme is dead in everybody's mind but my own.

Ditch all the Uptons.  Seroiusly, for about a day it was funny & cute that she liked Michigan.

But hitching your wagon to a celebutante is a bad idea.  This girl is going to become Paris Hilton/Brittany Spears/Jessica Simpson in the blink of an eye.  Think Anna Nicole Smith in  . . 3 . . 2 . . 1.

Ermagerred is an internet meme with 0 relation to Denard Robinson.  Add that relationship and it might work (though it will have a short shelf life)

The rest are ok, but nothing I'd go nuts for.

1st class design/art  as usual six0, concepts just not my style I guess.

Shirts with Fuck on them are not cool or dangerous. They are offensive and not really welcome in polite society. Unfortunately, the random use of profanity isn't even redeemed by cleverness, humor, or even originality. It is the lyrics to a song that almost no one has ever heard.

If the "ERMAHGERD" shirt (v1) said "DEHRNERD" somewhere on it, it would be my favorite of the bunch.

I also really do like the concept of the "Make the World Michigan" tee... However for some reason the picture just isn't working for me... To me it just looks like the state of Michigan surrounded by a cirlce (its not clear that it's supposed to be the globe). If there's a way to modify that one to be a little more obvious I think you'd have another strong shirt.

As for the "Unretired" shirt, is it possible to change the jersey number to "21," or is that some sort of copyright/liscencing issue? That would make that one much more obvious as well...

I think you have a few gems there with the runners up, they just need a few tweeks...

The Upton shirts make me shake my head in shame.

I'm not sure what "ehmergerd" has to do with Michigan, other than Brian referencing the meme one time. The Rilo Kiley shirt is equally tenuous for me. If anyone had spent a minute contemplating her lyrics to the song, you wouldn't use it for a joke/football t-shirt.

I wasn't aware of the conflict with "Eatin'", but after reading above, I think that needs to get stricken.

IMHO - the situation with the kid in Oklahoma whose school wouldn't let him wear a Michigan shirt is screaming for an MGo Shirt.  Perhaps:

"Dave Brandon Says I can Wear this Shirt in Oklahoma"  If there is an issue using Brandon's name, use "Brian Cook" or "Six Zero" or "MGoBlog" or "Charlie Blockham."  (If you asked, Brandon might even say OK.)

I am sure there are a number of better ideas that you can come up with.

(By the way - the second Kate Upton shirt made me laugh, but there is no way you can make it.)

Not a big fan of the "concept" designs.

I like the ones that made the cut, although I agree that the "Eatin'" one should probably be removed, since it seems to be competing with Odoms's own design.

It is absolutely shameful that money is being made by this site at the expense of Hope for Pahokee.  Why the link to buy the fake version of the "eatin" shirt is still active 2 days after concerns were raised is astonishing.
