My Meeeeechigan Thoughts

By Chewer D — June 30th, 2008 at 8:40 AM — 8 comments

Okay, who is as excited about the upcoming season as me?  I honestly can't remember the last time that I was so pumped about the first game of the year.  Maybe it's the unanswered questions that undoubtedly WILL be answered on Aug 30.  It could be, because, for so long we've waited for Michigan to ditch the conservative "run, run, pass" mentality and actually use the abilities of the ahtletes they have.  All I know is, the first game is 2 months away and I'm counting the days.  I've found myself reading this blog and checking other news sources several times a day and I just can't get enough.  Let me know what all of your thoughts are, on the upcoming season.

P.S. Brian, the "All Your Coach Are Belong To Us" shirt, is hilarious.  I will be buying one in the near future.

I'm always excited about football season when it gets around this time of year. I'm especially excited this year, for many of the same reasons you just mentioned. Having NCAA Football 09 for PS3 come out in a couple of weeks definitely will help alleviate some of the anxiousness.

Good post man.

I am pumped for the new season also and have the sense that we are EVENTUALLY going to be very very good with the new system. But lets have a reality check. We have a rookie quarterback with no college experience. We will loose some games we are not used to loosing so lets get used to the idea for this year so we don't jump off the bandwagon after the first bad loss. Teams rarely do well with a freshman quarterback and no experienced backup. Maybe by the end of the year we shock the buckeyes.

I was also just reading about the NCAA Football 09 game and thinking about how exciting it will be. The season just can't get here fast enough and the new era of Michigan football will finally begin.

It's funny that you guys actually mentioned that. I hadn't played NCAA 08 since I bought Call of Duty 4 and GTA IV. Last night I had the urge to play the game so I broke it out and ended up playing until 2 a.m.. The season just can't get here fast enough is definitely right.

I hadn't played in a long time either. I got 08 out a couple of days ago and played about 7 or 8 games in my campus legend that I had going. Ironically enough, my player that I created was a dual-threat QB and I signed with Texas instead of Michigan, because it didn't seem realistic to have Michigan running the spread style offense. So much for that, huh?

But while I'm stoked for this up and comming season, I can't help but to look way out to next season with all that speed being recruited. I'm really looking forward to the following season, they will have all that experience from the previous season and speed to kill.

I'll never be happy with a "so-so" season, but it's easier to deal with it, when I see the talent that Michigan has coming in. I hate to break the news to Steven Threet, but barring a spectacular year this year, he may see limited playing time over the rest of his career. There is a ton of talent waiting to be developed at the skilled positions and it's just exciting to see everything coming together. I'm sure we'll struggle this year, which is expected, but it all pays off in the end.
