MGoChicago Event

[Moved to Diaries to keep folks informed]

[Update 11/13: Todd Howard is confirmed]

[Update 11/7: Talked to some former players, who are going to try to come. A lot of guys coach so if the season's over (ie they lose in the playofffs) they'll make it.]

Q: What's the exact opposite of the East Lansing experience?

A: The Evanston experience.

Northwestern fans are eminently likeable, not that you really need to be alone on a purple sea since half the seats in Ryan are going to be filled with people in maize:

myotherhouse

The above is the t-shirt that people going on the Northwestern trip with Sports Power Weekends will receive, along with a game ticket, hotel room for two nights, transportation, gift cards, and an MGoStore discount. For Friday night's entertainment, Jared of SPW has engaged the services of…US GUYS.

There's still some spots left on the SPW trip and I highly recommend you jump on that if you're considering going to the NW game—it gets down to just $350/person if you can get three of your friends to come along.

Since we'll be there anyway we'd like to also invite any readers from Chicago to come join us at:

Moe's Cantina River North

Which is a huge (as in we get lots of space) Michigan bar. Details-like things:

When: Friday, November 15, from 6-9PM CST.

Where: Moe's Cantina River North 155 W. Kinzie St., Chicago, IL 60654, one block north of the Chicago River between LaSalle and N Wells. M: Merchandise Mart.

What: Q&A Session with Brian, and talking with people who don't need it explained that we had a true freshman guard starting against Max Bullough, i.e. other MGoBlog readers.

RSVP below, or show up.

...Because it could not be much worse for a Michigan Man!

"...a rare opportunity to get a Wolverine into a shouting match"... 5 out of the last 6 years isn't so rare. You should check out the tailgate where the fans are arrogant and have more excuses as to why their team isn't undefeated than Bush had explaining the WMD's in Iraq.

Perhaps the Umich coaching staff and their sweet ass recruiting skills can convince Matt Geiger to transfer and replace big mouth Tousaint and big stomach Green at RB. Dude had 48 more rushing yards than Umich had combined.

Thanks for trolling.

Can't say much about the game besides it was a pathetic display on Michigan's part and an impressive display by MSU.  Nice job, pat on the back, worry about bigger things little brother or you will continue to act like little brother.

Can I comment on the stadium?  The trash tornado was soaked in rain at the South Entrance to the game.  Unbelievable the amount of trash littered all over there.  The concourses are worse than pathetic and I won't get into the bathroom situation.  Nice collection of camo wearing hillbillies yelling obsceneties at the field (they were nice to us, as we were not causing problems).  Not much desire to go back but I am sure I will.

"Liitle Brother" is obviously not even a real State fan. He started his account to troll because he just switched after the win. 1 loss is just that, Hoke does have his work cut out for him but his recruiuting will catch up with State. You can't get inferior talent for 4 years and keep winning football games. Hoke & Co. have had 2 really good classes and another that was good but done in a short recruiting session. this next class will also be top-10 worthy. So, unless Dantonio can find a way to re-enroll Kirk Cousins, he's got trouble brewing. Dantonio has 1-2 more years to have an advantage before the Rich Rod guys are all gone and Hoke's young talent is ready to compete seriously. So, we'll bide our time. I'm not 100% sold on Hoke long-term but he's got talent coming in and winning most of his B1G games. Once the rebuilding is done and we're not transitioning to a pro-style offense we'll be able to get a better idea of whether Hoke is capable of producing a contender. Until then, you are perfectly welcomed to leave your silly comments, LB. As long as you define "great" based on winning 1 particular game you won't ever be able to change your name to "Title Winner." #goblue

Little bro is that of Ohio, because they act like it more and more each day.

Would like to make it to Moe's, but probably won't since I have to fly from Boston to Indy that day, then drive to Chicago...we'll see.

Anybody know of a gameday tailgate where we can stop by, put some money in a jar and get some grub?  I'll pass on the AA's $50/head extravaganza....

I'll be there.  Sounds like it'll be a good time, and I never get to go to the Ann Arbor stuff since i usually drive there on the day of the game.

Hey Seth...”mouth breather” MSU fan from tailgate here.  We had a great time feeding you all day and listening to you wax poetically on the usefulness of advanced stats.  Maybe if Al Borges had better explained to Devin Gardner that Michigan’s COLCQBSPB% (Crap Offensive Line Causing QB to Spit Blood) would be their downfall, Gardner would have removed himself voluntarily earlier instead of cowering short of the first down marker in the 4th quarter.

We also enjoyed your rhetoric on how MSU has a coach that is “just not very nice” and the players he recruits “just aren’t very nice” and our defense is full of “gangbangers”; I really wish we had a nice guy coach like Bo Schembechler, now that was a nice cuddly guy right?  Also, the “gangbangers” on our team would love to teach their criminal ways to their UM brethren, especially guys like Clark, Touissant, and AJ Williams to name a few.  We especially can’t wait for all the demands for Taylor Lewan to be suspended this week, oh wait that will never happen.  (Also we would like you to beat Nebraska, so hopefully it doesn’t).

Gotta go, Fox News is running a special on bloggers that apologize in person for getting out of line but then run to their computers to distort the truth to their internet friends.  See you next year!

Really wish you were not doing it at Moe's.  The local alumni association has Michigan bars that contribute significant dollars to scholarship funds for local students attending Michigan.  We would appreciate keeping the crowds there.  They will do specials in addition.

I was in East Lansing too and, despite the game itself and the horrendous weather, quite enjoyed myself.  I was smack dab in the middle of the student section decked out in maize and blue and the Spartans around me were surprisingly friendly.

I've been to the last 3 michigan games at MSU and i may never go back.

They have the worst bathroom and concession setup I've ever seen at any stadium. My buddy waited in line for over 30mins to go piss during the game. 1 tiny door for an exit AND entrance! Is there seriously any other stadium that's worse ?

But Chicago is pretty far away. Besides that, as I do every Saturday, I'm lining up all my stuffed animals from my childhood and drawing up X's and O's and demonstrating techniques and talking about schemes for most of the morning. It's kind of like a coaching clinic. The animals don't seem to really be absorbing the stuff though, which is too bad. May have to pull out my Phil Sims Halloween helmet from who knows how long ago, suit up, and go out there myself to show them how it's done.

Saturdays get a bit weird...

Slayer's in town? That calls for a trip to Kuma's for a Slayer burger: a 10 oz. patty on a bed of fries with chili, caramelized onions, andouille, cherry peppers, monterey jack cheese, scallions and ANGER (which sounds Michigan football related, but I believe it's hot sauce).

I have a prior commitment at Untitled for drinks/snacks and then supper TBD. I'm the sole person in the group who cares about athletics let alone sports communities (they're Ivies) and the group votes what to do. Hope to actually meet MGoBlog folks someday, I learn from you.
