This is slightly off topic and probably not relevant with it being Sparty week and all, but here goes.
Currently, the Diaries and the MGoBoard seem to be one in the same. Nothing really differentiates them from each other, other than placement on Brian's site. While it seems to me that diaries are more of "thought" pieces full of intellect, wit, and indepth reporting, occasionally bad, out of place diaries get mingled in with the good one. I have a suggestion on how it could be fixed.
I propose that:
1) Proven writers be the only ones given access to write in the diaries (ex. I am not a proven writer)
2) Diaries be renamed MGoPages
3) Writing a Diary be known as writing a Page
It's clear that there's a lot of smart people here at MGoBlog and like to share their love of the game. While everyone is free to voice their opinion, I think these should be kept to the MGoBoard. Right now there's a disconnect between whether an article is diary-worthy or MGoBoard-worthy. Let's change that and make the MGoBoard the public section and the MGoPages full of Brian's insightful/favorite/helpful writers. We can call the people who write in them Pages, you know those helpful boys and girls in Congress, minus the sex scandals and all.
A good example I saw yesterday was the interview with Jeremy Jackson by TomVH. This was MGoPages material, not MGoBoard materials. Asking where to watch the game, pointing out funny/stupid articles about Michigan, and other miscellaneous things are perfect for the MGoBoard. The upper right placement on Brian's site is a perfect space for knowledgeable content. I'd like to think of it as premium info.
