Let The Good Times Roll
So what did everybody do tonight? I know what I am not doing. I am not sleeping, that's what. It's too tough to sleep when you cant stop laughing.
Other than, you know, winning did Michigan do anything well tonight? To quote Bob Ufer, 'who gives a damn'
The Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry. Where 14-0 leads go to die. And where Underdogs happen.
Hey, Elno. I quoted Raised On Robbery in my MGoDiary. I think that was appropriate in retrospect. CAW
You know what that was? I'll tell you what that was right now: IT WAS THE MOTHERFUCKING LLOYD CARR GAME MANAGEMENT PLAN THAT RICH RODRIGUEZ NEVER READ BECAUSE KIRK FERENTZ STOLE IT TO BOSS THE BIG 10 FOR A COUPLE YEARS UNTIL BRADY HOKE WON IT BACK DURING THE COACHES WRESTLING TOURNAMENT AT THE BIG 10 MEETINGS THIS SUMMER
Apparently, it still works like a charm. Even the Les Miles section was dusted off.
Ferentz, I guess, is already in trouble without it
Actually, wait a sec, do those points MICH scored in the fourth quarter really count. I mean, they were down 17, I thought we learned a year ago that at that point whatever happens isnt relevant to form. So, Notre Dame won, right? HALOL
The Cubs were World Series Champs last time MICH beat Notre Dame three years in a row. I was not alive then. Fuck The Irish
Denard Robinson is Spanish for 30 seconds is too much time to leave on the clock
Somebody tweet something about Jeremy Gallon right quick
Vincent Smith. Its funny how internet posters hate him, but coaches love him.
OT: The Tigers Magic Number is in single digits
I really dont have anything smart to say. This all just an excuse to create a party diary. The stadium was beautiful tonight. The players fought their asses off. Somehow they won. Go Blue.

I'm planning on just dedicating all of tomorrow to the party.

As stupid as this diary probably is it may be my favorite one in Mgoblog history. I don't know where all to post my feelings seeing how there's literally pages of threads up but 6 hours later here we go: wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! That is all

Most important stat of the game: Michigan won the second quarter 7-3. At the end of the third I was pretty pissed at you, thinking, "sure they won the second quarter but they're losing all the rest." Now I recognize the genius!
Let the good times roll!

Ill admit I went to sleep after the 3rd quarter and missed a hell of a game ....Good thing for youtube I got chills watching
September 11th, 2011 at 6:15 AM ^
... you could have taken a bottle of melatonin on top of a heavy dose of sleeping pills and you would have stayed awake in the Big House. It was E-L-E-C-T-R-I-C !!!
September 11th, 2011 at 6:59 AM ^
The crowd seemed so dead on TV I was pissed it wasnt louder .... Thru the first 3 quarters I never would have thought 115,000 fans were in the Big House
September 11th, 2011 at 10:04 AM ^
My wife said she could hear us 1.5 miles away.
Trust me, Michigan Stadium was rocking.
September 11th, 2011 at 10:17 AM ^
That was just me screaming Vinnie Smith's over and over again during and after that TD
Sorry if I woke her.....
September 11th, 2011 at 6:58 AM ^
has anything negative to say about Vincent. All he does is work his ass off, doing exactly what the coaches ask of him.
September 11th, 2011 at 12:00 PM ^
Everybody "knows" V Smith and J Gallon are "too small" to play elite football...

did Michigan do anything well tonight?
They were pretty good at not giving up when so many had given up on them. Also, recovering unforced fumbles, throwing and catching jump balls, getting WIDE open on the wheel route when it mattered, kicking PATs (!), not dropping kicks and having more points on the scoreboard at the end of the game than the other team. Also, while Floyd got his yards, they did a good job of not giving up the home run. They defense bent until ND broke.
September 11th, 2011 at 9:01 AM ^
keeping together, that Defense never giving up, and the entire team continuing to fight
I also would like to see Jump Ball to Hemingway become a normal part of the offense

WORD
I wasnt really meaning they didnt do anything well, but I think you know that. Those men fought their asses off.
Wow. Sunrise looked maize and fucking blue this morning
September 11th, 2011 at 12:59 PM ^
I remember your 'Let The Good Times Roll" post after the ND game last year. Like you, I remember the 1987-1990 ND games well and hate the Irish more than Ohio State or any other team. Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to another one next year.
Another thing they did well that I forgot to mention is pass blocking. Not bad for a bunch of kids who were recruited for run blocking. Also, Wile has made me almost forget about the Hagerup suspension.
September 11th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
But his 38 yard average yesterday isn't as good as Hagerup will do. Just saying. His kickoffs have been solid, and will get better as he gets more practice and experience. I'm not sure why his last two kickoffs (other than the squib one with a a second left) landed at the 20 yard line. He got away with one because the ND guy let it bounce over his head. But, the 2nd one gave up a bunch of field position which helped ND score more quickly to take the lead back.

telling us how the UM crowd is normally lacksadaisy slumberous crowd. All I saw and heard was a LOUD rocking crowd! Great job everyone, great to watch!
September 11th, 2011 at 8:25 AM ^
That was the most unbelievable game in Michigan history! There...I said it. Spool up the last two plays for every Michigan highlight reel for years to come.
That game was one for the ages!
Go Blue!

Thanks jamie. I had an incredibly long, incredibly inchoherent response in this space which I left there while letting Let the Good Times Roll play out and fortuitiously fell asleep in that time.
Short short version: AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the biggest fan of Pat Forde, but he's the only one who has brought up this Hoke quote so far: "Even if that play had gone incomplete, Hoke said he might have done the same thing on the final one. 'I may have gone for the touchdown and gone for the win,' he said. 'Why not? I mean, you play to win.'"
Hoke really encapsulates Michigan football. Has the Schembechler legacy coaching ethos along with just enough of that gambler streak that fellow Schembechlarian (coining that as the name for all those who come from the tree of Bo) Les Miles takes too far. Love it.

That Denard Robinson deserves the Heisman? His performance last night, as nearly every victory (and most of the losses) over the past two years shows, was the difference. How can he not be college football's Most Valuable Player?
September 11th, 2011 at 1:08 PM ^
But screw it! Denard for Heisman!
September 11th, 2011 at 3:02 PM ^
I don't think winning the Heisman Trophy necessarily means you are the perfect football player encarnated--I think it means you are the most valuable to your team, you overcame adversity, and you led them to victory.
Oh, and your team's W-L record.

All I got to say is let the haters hate! Go Blue!

I think someone swapped out a regular football game for tecmo bowl in the 4th quarter.
September 11th, 2011 at 10:59 AM ^
Because I woke up this morning wondering if it was all a dream...although I guess my aching legs, bruised arms and lost voice could have been a clue. That was the best birthday in my entire life.
September 11th, 2011 at 11:39 AM ^
great post as always - love hearing that every time
September 11th, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
was the loudest, most amazing atmosphere I have ever experienced at a live game in 24 years of attendance. I will never forget how fun and raucus we were, and anyone suggesting the staduim was quiet is mistaken. Maybe TV blocked out some noise with fancy gagetry, but it was insane. GO BLUE!!! I will never forget that, and I am thankful I was alive to witness it.
September 11th, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
...also results in a Jamiemac diary of what appears to be a drunken rant of every thought I had post-game, but better. Or, as Fred Jackson would put it: "This diary is like reading an intoxicated Shakespeare, but more elegantly phrased."
