FWIW, if this were a chat room, I would have stuck you on ignore and been done with this whole thing long ago. The fact is, I keep driving by here to watch this wreck, to the point where i am beginning to wonder myself why I find this so facinating.
Jury's still out on Rodriguez
Let's face it, Rich Rod doesn't come to Ann Arbor with the intellectual and character credentials normally associated with Michigan football coaches. He still has a ton to prove at the big time college level and successful results on the field will make up for his hick-ish, base behavior.
I can forgive our players for the occasional DUI or fight, they're young men after all. The coaches, however, get a much shorter leash. Unless I'm missing something, you never hear stories about Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer dropping F-bombs left and right in front of alumni and in-state coaches.
I'm not pining for the good ole days of Lloyd. He had a nice run but the momentum was fading after that Appy State debacle. But since Rich Rod was our third choice, we should afford him that level of respect and devotion until he proves himself.
agenda for about 17 months now. It started out as "let's fire the lying hillbilly" but has long since downward spiraled into a general dislike of Michigan fans (because most of us are optimistic about Coach Rod). If you've frequented Freep or Mlive comment sections over the past year and a half you would definitely know what I'm talking about.
I agree that negative points shouldn't be assigned just because you disagree, but do you believe that's what is going on here? I don't. I think everyone is hammering a troll, and I agree with it.
I heard a story that RichRod cursed in front of a lot of people. I don't want a hick to be the M coach. Looks like the jury's still out on RichRod.
Good faith arguments can be dealt with without negative points. Bad faith assertions that are explicitly designed to "get a reaction" (which is exactly what BlueFront said downthread), however, should be dealt with severely, IMHE.
Swearing is good for you!!!!
The OP flatters himself and his recent celebrity. It's not so much that he's "hit a nerve" as his post is completely without merit. The audience reaction is not one of genuine anger (mostly)... WE ARE LAUGHING AT YOU.
Take this gem, right off the bat:
My brother-in-law was amazed at the amount of F-bombs our esteemed head football coach dropped during their dinner together
What, exactly, is this amount? Is it one? Or one thousand? Those are both amounts and some people may find the former in extreme distaste (I know people from West Michigan who think it's a sin to utter such verbal abominations as "darn" or "gosh" -- being surrogates for genuinely profane words). Others may find the latter to be entirely acceptable. The crux of your entire post is completely ambiguous... there is literally no substance here.
But it's just starting to get fun.
Rich Rod doesn't come to Ann Arbor with the intellectual and character credentials normally associated with Michigan football coaches
Any credibility you had has immediately been demolished. Your brother-in-law is guilty by association. Also, it shows that you're a pretentious ass.
...successful results on the field will make up for his hick-ish, base behavior.
This is my favorite. Not only do you hammer home the fact that you are a self-important sack of offal discharge, you make clear that you wouldn't care about his swearing if he had won more games. Wins > character. Nice.
You proceed to vouch for the acceptability of young men to commit assault and drive drunk -- both of which could lead to the serious injury or death of completely innocent individuals, while cursing offends only certain folks' moral vanity.
As for the context of other coaches dropping F-bombs as an excuse, I'm sure that many practices and games have abundant alumni and local coaches in attendance.
Finally, you seem to be on the verge of making a point at the end, but appear to have trodden upon your own phallus and prematurely topped off.
I like the phrase "moral vanity".
That is all. +1
Hm, let's take a look here.
"He still has a ton to prove at the big time college level and successful results on the field will make up for his hick-ish, base behavior."
Okay, that's a stereotype, and not even a really accurate one. Lots of people say "fuck" a lot; most of them are not "hicks".
"I can forgive our players for the occasional DUI or fight, they're young men after all. The coaches, however, get a much shorter leash. Unless I'm missing something, you never hear stories about Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer dropping F-bombs left and right in front of alumni and in-state coaches."
Uh, DUIs and fights are horrible. People die due to drunk driving, and fights are the worst example for other players and the program's image. Swearing by a coach is far more minor, even irrelevant, than a player getting into a fight. I have no idea where your priorities come from; people who are 18-22 are still adults and should be treated as such. Drunk driving =/= swearing; not even close.
"But since Rich Rod was our third choice, we should afford him that level of respect and devotion until he proves himself."
I'm pretty sure he was our second choice, unless you count Ferentz and Schiano as both being ahead of him. I think Schiano was the only one who was actually offered the job per se. At any rate, he was the choice and he's our coach. No point in being an ass about it. Perhaps the school you attend because you didn't get into your top choices shouldn't get any respect either?
The general reaction to this post was rather stupid and over the top. People seem to have too much free time to bother with 400+ thumbs down. However, this post itself is stupid and illogical, and illogical comparisons to Iran don't change the fact that you didn't think about your argument or give logic to support it. From what I can tell, this blog likes writers who provide logic to back up their viewpoints; you are not one of them.
I could pick your arguments apart line by line Stunna (nice handle, sounds so Vanilla Ice), but that would be glossing over the details. Let's really focus and criticize your post letter by letter...
"H" - You should never start a post with this weak-ass consonant.
"m" - Better, reminds me of Michigan.
"," - Maybe next time use an exclamation point for emphasis.
"l" - L is for loser, you already knew that.
"e" - Can I buy a vowel Pat?
"t" - This is making me tired.
"'" - You chose a contraction over "let us", bold move.
"s" - S is for Spock, master of logic and your idol.
Live long and prosper.
This post has become a delightful exercise in schadenfreude...BlueFront95's fall from grace among this blog's community of readers has reached the proportions of a Greek or Shakespearian proprtions. He is -511 as I write this. I am astounded that people are still responding to this post. Soon his name will be attached to forum behaviour that results in this kind of epic negative response, as in: "Dude, looks like this post is going to go "BlueFront"" on you, or "Careful, comments like that might get you the "BlueFront" treatment." And as a cautionary insult, "Don't be a "BlueFront"."
I particularly like "Don't be a bluefront."
this summer I attended an alumni gathering with Mr. Rodriguez and he said things like “poo” and “ass” and “crap”…just awful awful things that made my ass hurt. He’s a bad man and he needs to go to the Church Service on Ann St. immediately. I want 30 hail Mary’s from him and not the kind where you throw a ball of foot really far but one to the lord Jesus Christ our savior holy holy and not the kind of “hail” they do on Saturdays in the large house of ball of foot.
Does anyone know if Rich Rod billsonated at the dinner as well?
If he starts winning will your brother be turned off?
I fucking won't be. I will be cheering like fucking hell.
Rich Rod looks a lot like the guy from Mary with chidren and I'm sure he scored more than 5 TDs in one game bowled 10 300 games in a row drank 2 cases of Mt. Dew in 2 ours and killed him a bare when he was only 3. 3rd choise is the fist winner! He's gonna win 25 games in a row and than have a higher wining parcentage than stipid loser Lloyd
I don't think anyone won with that comment.
The problem is I can't tell if this was a parody or if this guy is the New Genius of MGoBlog.
[EDIT: "Rich Rod looks a lot like the guy from Mary with chidren" Does that mean that skunkbears4life thinks that RR looks like Joseph or Jesus?]
Or a CMU alumni. No Sugar Coat.
you fuckin nay-sayin, ass eatin, dick suckin, FUCKTARD!
you do realize that you just cussed out a moderator here.
Formerlyanonymous has been issued an official MGoBlog uniform, the keys to the blog, and his own decoder ring.
I think that means he has the power to ban your ass.
That was directed at formerlyanonymous? I'm not sure where that comment was directed. I'm not even sure skunkbears4life knows.
His post was only 8 minutes after yours, and since his post was 11 words, and spelled correctly (sort of), he would have needed more time.
Thus, the 13 minutes to FA for the 11 word response sort of seemed right.
If you need cussing out, I'll be glad to oblige, though.
And a good cussing out might be a nice change of pace. Have at it...
I dunt know bout the analus guy. I'm yellin swears at the jerk that wrote bad stuff about RR. RR will go 39-0 over the next 3 years an 3 peat like my main man Michele Jordan
I +1'd you on that.
This thread was awesome.
