WELL...now that football is essentially done, it's time for us to focus on the basketball team (yes, I know, and HOCKEY). We play someone good Tuesday, I think, so that should be quite the exciting game. We also get another somewhat good team in two weeks. Man, this December schedule is BRUTAL. Anyway, if you're curious as to HOW BRUTAL or who I'm referring to, FEAR NOT! I have produced a schedule wallpaper for your information delight!

EDIT: Sorry about before...I broke photobucket, apparently. Thanks, MGoBlog!
I'm tired, so you don't get much of an actual explanation on design reasons or any of that jazz. I thought I'd just tone it down a bit since we're all a bit pissy about the football season, Hand, etc. Not flashy, but effective. PLEASE give me ideas you'd like in future wallpapers because I'm hoping for a more MGoBlog-centric development of these wallpapers for basketball season. I'm open to pretty much anything aesthetically-speaking and would love a challenge. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the wallpaper. Go Blue, beat Northwestern and Iowa State this weekend!

CALL IT THERMOPYLAE, THEN.
Someone in this diary is going to get all ancient Greek savvy on me and tell me that Spartans didn't believe there was anything to look forward to in the afterlife ("300 isn't HISTORY, man!"). Or something. I don't care, okay? Good. Now that we got that out of the way, I decided upon a theme of Elysium because it does two things for me, symbolically.
One, it establishes that I respect the toughness and fight that the Spartans give in their game. While I may despise their very existence, only a blind homer (no pun intended - ANCIENT GREEK HIGH FIVE) wouldn't give them credit for being a formidable opponent as of late. To that end, should they die in battle (symbolically, of course), they would have earned an eternity in Elysium for dying in a worthy manner.
That brings me to my second thing that using this symbolism does for me. It establishes that they lose this "battle." They fight hard, but every one of the Spartans perish in my world here. We'll just call it "Thermopylae" for good measure.
Anyway, it's a pretty wallpaper that also has a bloody helmet on it with a spear marking a job well done in the battle by our Wolverines against their worthy (and eternally annoying) younger brothers. I hope you like it. If you don't, just dig up any other number of good MSU wallpapers from the past couple years and use that. Just don't look at the date...As always, constructive criticism and/or ideas for current or future wallpapers is encouraged. After all, even if we do piss off Space Coyote with our lack of playcall commentary acumen, we're all still united in our love of Michigan and our hatred of Sparty. I do this, and every wallpaper I design, for your enjoyment alone, MGoBlog.
No mobile version yet...sorry...I'll get on that ASAP.

Well folks, it's been a while since we beat Penn State. If it's going to happen this week, it's most likely going to need a Jake Ryan appearance and a good showing by Devin(s) again this week. This is my first wallpaper of the week. I'll do a less DARK one later this week if I get time. I hope you enjoy the wallpaper. It was a LITTLE rushed, but overall, I am pleased with the outcome. As always, I love constructive criticism and/or ideas for future wallpapers. I will usually at least try to accomodate those that are feasible for the enjoyment of the MGoBlog community. Go Blue!

Ok, ladies and gents, I'm back at it for B1G season. Hopefully, I'll be able to spend some more quality time working on these now that I have multiple days off in the coming week. In the meantime, I've put together a modest wallpaper for this week's historic rivalry (yes, we know what those are, ND).
I have two versions of this wallpaper, so I hope you at least like ONE of them. I was a little surprised when I looked at how horrendously one-sided this rivalry has been. I read a hilarious article posted before last years game by a very realistic Minnesota beat writer who essentially said it's time for the rivalry to end - because it's not really a rivalry if only one side wins. I know we're all in that place where we want TomVH to hold us while we get nervous about opponents that normally see three levels of the depth chart, but seriously, Nick Sheridan beat Minnesota - at Minnesota. Nick "I am the black death of Michigan football" Sheridan. Let that sink in. Now remember that Hoke has yet to lose at home, and that Iowa (yes, the same Iowa team we destroyed last year) just smacked this Minnesota team around. Somehow, I don't feel so nervous anymore. Because, really, is there any way this team is WORSE than the team from <404: "file not found">? Yeah, I don't think so.
So there it is. THE_KNOWLEDGE has imparted his goodness and mercy upon us and let us know ahead of time that we're going to win, so let's just enjoy the game and these "lovely" wallpapers.

Wow, it's been an eternity in MGoBlog time since I posted a wallpaper. I've had a busier schedule than I could have ever imagined. My wife and I welcomed our 2nd child, a beautiful baby girl named Norah. I've also had to adapt to being a parent to children, not just a child. Let me tell you, that is a much different beast.
All of that to say this - I'm sorry that it's been so long. I'm hopeful that too much hasn't changed in my favorite corner of the internet. I haven't missed much other than 12 or so "redshirt" threads, it seems.
This wallpaper is going to be hit or miss with you all, I'm sure. When trying to decide what type of wallpaper I'd go with for the Chippewas, I came up with several non-PC options (indian casino, putting Brady Hoke's face on a Chief, etc.) and then landed on the dreamcatcher design. Believe it or not, I like to incorporate some depth/history into my wallpapers (HEY, that Zombie Toussaint wallpaper was totally cerebral..get it? Brains?...anyway...), so I did some research on the Chippewa people. One big cultural/artistic piece I came across being attributed to them was the dreamcatcher. Now, I'd made one back in elementary school and it was cool then, but I was stoked to make a 2013 Michigan Football theme for my new catcher of dreams. I used that as my base and threw in a picture of a random Michigan field for good measure.
I wanted the wallpaper to have the schedule on it, so that's why it's there. I did add a texture to the overall wallpaper to give it an interesting feel, so it's not as clean-cut as some in the past, but I like it (and in the end that's really all that matters, right?).
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and will use it or perhaps my Scenic Michigan Stadium wallpaper until Notre Dame week arrives. One week, ladies and gentleman! Let's Go BLUE!!!
Enjoy and GO BLUE!
