Isn't it ironic?

By Captain Obvious — November 9th, 2009 at 10:57 PM — 26 comments
Rich Rod walked in Ann Arbor
Took the job and Mallett left the next day
It's the Mike Williams in your secondary
It's a Death Roh sack a season too late
Isn't it ironic ... don't you think

It's like rain on Homecoming Day
It's a blown punt when you've already faked
It's the three points that you just couldn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures

Mr. Play it Safe was afraid to go for 2
He called on Tate and kissed his streak goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to beat Michigan State
And as Tate threw that pick he thought
'Well isn't this nice...'
And isn't it ironic ... don't you think

It's like rain on Homecoming Day
It's a blown punt when you've already faked
It's the three points that you just couldn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures

Well fumbles have a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think Robinson's okay and everything's going right
And Sheridan has a funny way of helping you out when
You think the Little Brown Jug is outta reach and he blows up
In their face

It's a punt block when it's already too late
It's a no-punting sign on your Space Emperor's leg
It's like ten thousand Slots when you need is a MIKE
It's meeting the Center of my dreams
And then meeting his shredded up knee
And isn't it ironic... don't you think
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

It's like rain on Homecoming Day
It's a blown punt when you've already faked
It's the three points that you just couldn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures

I just never thought I would type those together. I guess it is like when Mr. Reese put chocolate and peanut butter together for that magical first time.

At some point - you will have to share the secret of how long that took. The fact that it flows well is very impressive and shows that someone wasn't sleeping in their English and Creative Writing classes.

If I can ever figure out how to give points - you got some!

Anyone want to give a guess on the over/under on the number of people who will try to steal that for some creative writing class - I'll set the bar at 2

about that song is that she wrote a song about irony and got it wrong. All of the examples she uses are coincidence, and irony seems to get left behind. This is a tough concept that many people have trouble with, and Alanis is one of them.
