I'm very excited to unveil the first edition of THE BLOCKHAMS™, my new ongoing online comic strip featuring the illustrated exploits of a maize and blue family. As I've previously mentioned, THE BLOCKHAMS™ will run every Tuesday here on MGoBlog and every Thursday at its official home page at www.theblockhams.com
If you like what you see, be sure to visit the site to learn more about the cast and the premise of the strip itself, and bookmark it before you leave. As always, be sure to check out the site's awesome sponsors as well. And The Blockhams are also on Twitter at @theblockhams so be sure to follow to receive updates whenever a new strip publishes.
Finally, after some deliberation before Christmas I've chose to 'out' myself here on the blog, simply because this is my creation and I'm too proud of it to hide behind a user name and risk someone else claiming ownership. This strip will run for the foreseeable future and I wanted to do it right. So there it is, here I am, please respect the decision, etc.
BONUS STRIP!
Finally, as a gift on the official launch date of the series, I've decided to run a second strip that will publish later this afternoon on THE BLOCKHAMS™ home page. If you like what you've seen, be sure to check back later today at http://www.theblockhams.com for a look at what Christmas was like in the Blockhams home this year.
Thanks everyone and GO BLUE TONIGHT!!!

It's beautiful, man.

Oh no! Now I have to wait until this afternoon to find out how the game turns out. This looks great. I can't wait to see the next strip.

This is epic. Six Zero you are the man. Thank you for being so tremendous.

Kickin it off with a pun on Michigan left guard's name, not going for much crossover appeal there. From early on, I've always read his name and pronounced it in my head as Omaneh, so I didn't get it at first.
Nevertheless, I like it, and I am certainly looking forward to more.
Cheers

Always use Crayola, kids...

Impressive job well done - you should be proud.
January 3rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM ^
Love the Bluehair with the collared shirt under the sweatshirt. That's always been their signature look.
January 3rd, 2012 at 11:25 AM ^
Especially love Chalmers "Bump" Blockham, the black sheep pizza delivery guy! Classic!!!

Wouldn't the engineer have been more likely to play role-playing games AND do well in school rather than the Sparty?

<br>Unless Six Zero meant something else, in a more adult vein...

I really enjoyed this and can't wait for more. Awesome work!

I like what I see.

I look forward to seeing more.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
Look forward to seeing more. Will there be two different strips each week, or are we getting a preview on Tuesdays here on MGoBlog?
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:10 PM ^
Tuesday's entry will show here on MGoBlog, and the Thursday piece will run only on the home page. For archiving purposes, the Tuesday strip will also run at www.theblockhams.com.
Thanks for the interest!

I think I can see another coffee table book in my future...

Your additional content strip sums up exactly how I feel about 3 and Out! Thank you for representing us non-masochists for a change...
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:30 PM ^
I'm only a few chapters in it, myself, and I've found it pretty fascinating. But Glenn Blockham isn't necessarily me, and I'm certainly not Glenn Blockham.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:58 PM ^
I have no problem thanking an imaginary cartoon character so thank you Mr. Blockham. Sadly, although I'm in my early 30's, I'll probably end up relating to you the most, unless you have some unnatural secret admiration for Pop Evil.

While we're on the subject of your bonus strip. Desmond is wearing red....
*jingles keys in such a way as to show distaste*

Bookmarked, and looking forward to this on a weekly basis.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
How is that remotely funny?
January 3rd, 2012 at 4:40 PM ^
Omameh...brilliant!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
I think we all have a "Bump" Blockham in our families.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:20 PM ^
This looks eerily like my living room: you have the positions of the sofa, lamp, and TV exactly right. My 10-year-old son and I look just like #1 and #2 in the living room on game day, complete with position, posture, and emotional highs and lows.
We even wear #1 and #2 jerseys, respectively.
In short, awesome. Can't wait to show my kid.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
Can't wait for future ones!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:22 PM ^
I don't understand the joke, can someone explain it to me?
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:28 PM ^
"Oh Mommy" = "Omameh," as in Patrick #65.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:30 PM ^
I feel like Indiana Jones right now. Ha!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:34 PM ^
The dog is named after you!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:36 PM ^
I'll answer that for you: VERY.
"Thank you, Desmond."
hysterical.
Nice work, Six Zero! Looking forward to these!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:42 PM ^
Bump. Yer killin me; that one brought tears to my eyes.
January 3rd, 2012 at 4:54 PM ^
Will this comic feature any female Blockhams who support Michigan football? Judging by the character descriptions the Mom is a nag, the female child cries which ruins football watching and grandma is resigned to tolerating football cause she has too. Would like seeing this on the front page alot more if it showed a woman liking football too instead of going the stereotyped route.
January 3rd, 2012 at 5:10 PM ^
While I'm not going to promise that any of those characters will never be portrayed in those ways, I'm comfortable in saying that what you've described is something they are each capable of, but it will not define who they are.
If they seem one-dimensional, perhaps you just need some time to get to know them. Thanks for asking and GO BLUE!
January 3rd, 2012 at 5:58 PM ^
Hey, you can still love role-playing games and go to U-M!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go seduce a Russian spy and save the world before kickoff.
January 3rd, 2012 at 6:20 PM ^
Great concept, can't wait for more!
January 5th, 2012 at 12:48 PM ^
Great work Six Zero, but I have one tiny issue--you say in the character bios that Tom was in the student section during the 1997 season. If he was class of '97, he would have already graduated. He should be class of '98.
Details, details. But again, my hat is off to you. Great work.

I keep getting "IDateAsians" sites. Which probably says more about me than you, but my wife probably wouldn't appreciate the clicks. But I WILL be clicking on your site, because this is great stuff. Just keep reminding us for the first few weeks till it becomes habit forming.

Really enjoying this and just remembered to go check out Thursday's strip, unfortunately too late to beg for an extra strip on Twitter. Just one question about the website: Do you plan to add navigation buttons for the strips at some point? (First, most recent, next, previous) When there are only three strips it's probably not necessary, but it will get difficult to catch up without them.
But, seriously, loving your artwork, and I hope an Ann Arbor paper (either univserity or not) picks the strip up. I can't imagine everyone wouldn't enjoy these.
