An Interview with Dillon Baxter
Before this turns into a huge Ron Burgundy parody, let's just get everything out of the way now: BAXTER! You ate a whole wheel of cheese? San Diaaagooo. It's German for a whale's va....ok, that's enough.
Dillon Baxter is a four star running back prospect from San Diego, CA. Though he's currently a USC commit he will be visiting this week along with CA WR Kenny Stills and CA LB/S Tony Jefferson. Yes, he plays offense. No he doesn't play defense. He's really good, though, and his highlight video is jazzy.
On with the interview.
TOM: This visit kind of popped up out of nowhere; how did it come about, and what piqued your interest in Michigan?
DILLON: Michigan was one of my first places I wanted to look, but I never really got a chance to. I just want to make sure USC was the right place. I have an opportunity to go see it, so I wanted to do it now.
TOM: What made Michigan a place that you liked in the beginning?
DILLON: I like the crowd, and I’ve always liked them since I was little. They were kind of my team growing up, so I’ve just always liked them.
TOM: Have you made any other visits besides USC?
DILLON: USC is really only the main place. I’ve been to UCLA a little bit, but not really for that long.
TOM: You, Tony Jefferson, and Kenny Stills will be on the visit, are you all friends? Are you all friends with Tate?
DILLON: Yeah, we’re all friends; Kenny’s going to spend the night at my house before the flight. We all know Tate (Forcier) from high school, so that should be fun to all be together again.
TOM: Have you guys every thought about all playing together, or talked about it?
DILLON: We talked about playing together all last year, so we’re all kind of looking around to find a cool place. It didn’t work out that we’d all play for USC, so we’re going to see if there’s maybe anywhere else we all like.
TOM: Can this trip change your mind? A lot of people think kids that are committed sometimes take trips just to have fun, is that the case here?
DILLON: No, if this is better than USC then yeah. I’m pretty serious about USC, but who knows. The coaching staff at USC are all hype, and always happy to see you and teach you. I just want to find out how the Michigan coaches are, too.
TOM: What are you most excited for at Michigan?
DILLON: I can’t wait for that game; I’m excited. I don’t really know if I’ve been in front of that many people. I just want to see how the game is, the crowd is, just everything. Coach Dews is who’s recruiting me. We’ve been talking the last couple days. So, I want to build on that relationship more and meet the rest of the coaching staff. The offense is exciting, and I hope I can fit in that offense. I want to stay at running back and slot, so that would be right for their offense.
TOM: If this visit does change your mind, or make you think, when will your ultimate decision be?
DILLON: This is the first week of playoffs for us, so probably once our season is over.
Great stuff as always thanks Tom. I don't know a lot about him, but I take it he is the type of athlete you just have to take?
I know from experience dude. If you know what I mean.
Yes, if he wants to come here, you let him.

Jefferson obviously; he's a great talent at a position of need. But what about Stills? Does RR's WR fetish have a limit? Is is possible we actually still need an outside WR because of position switching?
We don't exactly have a down-field burner on the roster that is getting playing time. Plus Gordon, Jones and Rogers have moved to defense.

Seems like they might be a package deal. It would be great to land that trio. Thanks Tom!
"Relax you panic monger" -Megatron
Nice to have a package deal where all players involved are blue chips. Recalling our last package deal, the "Hello Adrian Witty" post consisted mostly of "He is Denard Robinson's teammate"
Wow. If Michigan pulled Baxter, Stills and Jefferson, wow. Maybe some E-BLOGS would realize that MICHIGAN not only recruit TALENT but also DEFENSIVE TALENT.
Great interview. We'd love to have you Baxter. As long as you promise to bring Jefferson along as well ;)
Our toils obscure an' a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.
Please people, don't boo the team. At all.
This is a crazy good recruiting weekend, a win would be huge. Crowd support will help a lot.

The man speaks truth here.
Unfortunately, 90+% of the people will have no idea these recruits are there and that their boos could have serious negative repercussions for the future of the program.
Best case scenario is nothing happens on Saturday that would meke people want to boo. However, as a back up plan, just in case, anyone who is at the game on Sat. should make it a pont to casually mention it to as many people as they can that a ton of blue chippers are there, so they shouldn't boo.

The student section never boos.
or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
1. What ever section cheers the loudest gets free beer.
2. Fans that boo will casually be removed to a secret location and forced to watch reruns of Oprah interviewing Tom Cruise.
3. Make the "boo crew" come down to the field and repeat what they said about the players to the players face without police protection.
4. Any "fan" that boo's will be will get a buckeye emblem tatoo on their buttocks.
Sounds like he is looking forward to a fun trip for a big game.
interview. Sounds like there may be a chance for one or more of the trio. Thanks Tom.

It sounds like he could be kind of...a big deal around Ann Arbor.
That being said, it is what it is.
It seems like it's between UCLA and Michigan for Tony Jefferson, seeing as how Florida is totally loaded at CB and S this year.
let us play a respectable game, give none of the "idiot" fans anything to boo about, and show these kids a great time!
On a side note... Tons of blue chippers in the house for a huge recruiting weekend or not, there is no excuse for booing your own team at the game. If you don't like what you're getting out there, and can't support the team in good times and bad, I'd rather not have you as a part of our fanbase. Do you really think raining down boos on a bunch of 19 year old kids will help them play better? Whether your boos are meant for them or not, they will take it that way. Support the team at the game no matter what. Bitch about it on sportsradio or blogs afterwards if you so choose...
Thank you. That is all. Go blue!
HAIL.

and some of the worst. I'm hoping the good ones represent and help give all of the visiting recruits something to really look forward to being a regular part of.
Rodriguez is still building and needs more pieces. I'm hoping this Saturday gives these guys some serious chills. They won't just be looking at what happens on the field as part of this experience.
Let's put on a freaking show!

Do Something. If it works, do more of it. If it doesn't, do something else.
does he look like Steve Breaston(appearance, of course)?
From the sound of it, this kid is a flat out play maker. He would be very useful for us to have in the future.
If he's as good as he's ranked, he could be all american in this offense.
Great to get Baxter on campus so hopefully we can give him something to think about on his visit. A fantastic weekend for recruiting overall now let's keep the fingers crossed that these kids see the potential in our team and the fact they can make a difference at Michigan.
and looking at animal entrails and all of that. Did it really sound like if this guy is that turned on he comes with two others?! What?!
Lets hope we can make a positive impression on DB and steal one from the Trojans for a change.
What the Hell. -Jack Burton
who turned out nicely, huh?
"They're stuck with that quarterback (sophomore Braxton Miller) for the next two or three years, that's fine with me. He throws worse than (Tim) Tebow. - Steve Everitt
lets get all three of them guys.

As I have never been closer to the program than this blog and my days going to games as a student, can anybody shed some light on how any of our players/coaching staff have any meaningful time to spend with this HUGE number of highly ranked recruits the week of "The Game"?
while different in many ways, he has to love the way they used Vincent Smith last week as a receiver out of the backfield. just watched his highlights, along with being a man amongst boys, he's one hell of a pass catcher. as lou brown would say, "get him a uniform."
Have people booed at the Big House this year? The only boos I can remember are when RichRod didn't go for it on 4th down against Purdue. That's not the type of boo that I worry about.

Yes, they should DEF all come play for Michigan. It's a very cool place.
