Hello

Submitted by MSUwolverine1989 on
I'm a long time reader finally registered to the site. I know my user name will come under alot of scrutiny but hell I am what I am. I'm a die hard Michigan fan that grew up with season football tickets and went to dozens of hockey and basketball games every year. Due to my lack of intelligence, the good people at the University of Michigan did not allow me to attend their university. I'm not bitter at all like many become but I will always root for Michigan and Michigan State athletics can go to hell, I will be there for 4 years, get my degree and move on. I know I know, why Michigan State of all schools? Well I figured if I can't go to Michigan and don't really have the money to go out of state, it would still be nice to go to a HUGE school so that well limits my options. I know some of you won't like me but I could careless, I am just as big of a Michigan fan as anyone else in here. I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to Michigan football and basketball. I follow recruiting like many way too closely and waste way too much time on the recruiting sites worrying about who we get or don't get next. I'm also a big University of Arizona basketball fan, a big Tigers and Diamondbacks fan. Outside of the MLB I'm not a huge pro sports fan. Well I take that back I love the NFL and unfortunately will always be a Lions fan. But I'm glad to have joined the site and look forward to contributing here....GO BLUE

That's an insult to neanderthals. Rimshot aside, welcome. I grew up right by East Lansing so I know what it's like to be surrounded by State fans.

According to Michigan professors Milford Wolpoff and Rachel Caspari, who are the leading proponents of the multiregional evolution hypothesis, Neanderthals were actually very, very intelligent creatures. Their brains were slightly different shaped -- they had a lot of occipital bunning, but much smaller foreheads. This means they were possibly not as "smart" in the way of forethinking and creativity, but they were very smart emotionally, and incredible athletes, with uncanny reflexes. The Mousterian Tool Industry that they're associated with was the most advanced of its age for thousands of years, and when they began interacting with Cro Magnon man, there was a lot of give-and-take between the two technology groups. In other words, they were probably just as intelligent as any MSU grad, or moreso, and it is offensive to their memory that it should be suggested otherwise. Certainly, were they still around, a Neanderthal would have, by now, at least won a Heisman.

MSU is a good school. Period. Not sure why everyone bashes it...I am a Michigan Grad class of 2000 and I grew up pretty much equidistance from EL and AA. A lot of the smartest kids from my class went to Umich and a lot went to State. 2 good friends of mine got into both schools and went to State. One went to state because he thought he would have a better chance at Med school since Pre-Med at Umich is ultra competitive (I know you say that dis-proves my point) either way he is a pediatrician practicing in Cincinnatti - so things worked out for him. The other guy chose MSU because he just loved state and his folks went there...he is a pretty successful engineer today. And when I got my MBA at UNC, one of smartest kids in my class who got one of the best jobs was a packaging major at State. Sorry for long post...

I'm glad you got your MBA, because in my experience some of the dumbest people I've ever met had Education degrees. I'm sure you're an exception, no offense meant, but damn, have you seen some of these people with that degree running school boards? Sheesh.

Not sure why you assumed Education...either way my point was that MSU is a good school (not Harvard or Oxford or even Michigan, but a top 50 school) and the education bashing is getting old (now "Dantonio is a fucking D-bag" is a statement I can get behind) and I tried to give a few facts why I thought it was a good school for some of my smarter friends and how the education there worked out just fine for them. Edit: I just re-read your post and I think my sarcasm meter was off...

MSU is a good school if your comparing it to eastern or (insert sec school not named vandy here) because its a big ten school and yes it does have some top flight programs (ie you wanna study cows go to moo u) but as a whole university its not a comparision ... michigan is better ... i was undecided coming out of high school in the state of michigan and the truth is the only school i considered in our state was michigan because it was the only school that had great programs in ALL areas leaving the choice up to me ... i didnt even waste my time applying to state (this has nothing to do with me hating their athletics, if it was better for me as a student i would have gone there)

Acceptance letters hell, not only did I keep them all, I even kept the one solitary recruiting letter I got for swimming. It was from a Division II school I'd never heard of, in West Virginia, was just a sort of boilerplate we-like-your-times-come-check-us-out kind of letter, and - this is the best part - was received in October after I'd already begun my first year at UVA because they must have thought I was a year or two younger ... but hey, "I was recruited to swim in college," and I have proof dammit.

Not sure what motivated you to write this. That's about 60 seconds I'll never get back. Man, there have been a lot of real shitty posts on here lately. Football season can't get here soon enough.

I have a question for you. Why with your moniker you lead with msu when you state you're maize & blue? You could easily used...ELwolverine or Wolverine in EL. Just curious...

Potato Salad motherfucker. Tell me, when you go to a party do you announce yourself to the gathered guests? I too got into the U of M. But I decided not to go. My career requires no college education, and if it did, I would go to a college that teaches the skills I need to peform well in my career.

If you ever go back to AA and you hear someone beginning to chant "if you cant get into college..." cover your ears and shout LALALA until he/they disperse. This will save you from broken feelings.

Yeah, when I started reading your post I felt like I was at an online AA meeting... I couldn't have gotten in to the M either and never planned on finishing college anyway, but who cares.(I now manage an investment company.) Do what you do, read the intelligence that is the good of this site and the idiocy that comes from mostly people your age. Enjoy the football knowledge, keep your head down and your grammar proper and watch ur spelling, who cares about anything else?
