RR runs a damn Spread Offense
I am getting tired of fans/reporters/so-called experts saying that RR should revert back to a pro-style offense or lessen the amount of spread offense they run because the players they have are more familiar with that type of offense. How in the hell do you expect him and McGee to teach an offense they know nothing about. RR has run this offense for years and has had success with it. You can't just make up a pro-style offense when you have never ran one before. Not to mention the players have been running a spread since last spring and would take a huge step back if presented witha pro-style gameplan.
Play calling is not the problem. They are getting guys open, examples = koger seam route in the 1Q / Moundros PA Wheel route, both routes were set up perfectly with previous plays but both passes were overthrown. It is all about exectution and players performing.
Coaches are required to put their players in postions to suceed but it's the players responsibilty to perform. That has been the major issue this year. Making plays when the team needs them. The Team made plays in the Wisconsin game when given the chance and they won.
I know it is not a big revelation but it just comes down to players playing better.
RR needs to pick a QB and overall feeling of todays game
Threet played "above average" today and Sheridan also had his
moments, but having two QBs play is hurting Michigan. Threet had
atleast 3 passes that if they were on target and caught they would have
either been touchdowns or very long gains. Each pass sailed over the
WR's head and IMO, this is because Threet and Sheridan are sharing reps
at practice. And yes, I am talking about "practice, were're talking
about practice. Not a game, but practice" sorry...
With the split time, either quaterback can't get the timing down with
their recievers. This shows in all the deep throws that Michigan has
not been able to connect with this game and last week. If Threet or
Sheridan were given the majority of snaps with the first string they
could build that cemistry and perhaps connect on a few of these long
plays.
So RR needs to choose a starter, cough Threet cough, and stick with them in practice and though the game.
Anyways,
the running game looked a hell of a lot better this week and the OL and
DL has been able to enforce their will on people late in games because
of the extended emphasis on conditioning. This bodes well for Michigan
later in the year when teams become tired and hurt and Michigan is
still going full speed at them.
Good Win, not great. Go Blue!
"Little Brother's" preparing to fight
With their recent verbal commit of the massive 6' 8" OT from Iowa, MSU and dantonio are putting together one hell of a recruiting class. With some research, MSU has (according to Rivals):
- (3) four star OT's
- (2) four star RB's
- (1) four star QB
- (1) four star WR
- (1) four star OLB
Yes, ratings this early really don't mean much, but come-on, "Little Brother" is going through puberty and looking to take a couple of swings at ol' "Big Brother" for pushing him around for the past few years.
This rivarly is really going to start to get interesting ......finally.
