Except for showing up in a limo.
Funniest Headline I've Read in a Long Time...
The actual headline I guess is "Weis Feeling Better About Standing During Games"
Still, even with his knee injury I just laughed reading it. I wanted to say, "Wow, congratulations, you might be able to STAND UP during a football you're coaching? Will it be hard to carry the nachos AND the clipboard?"
To be honest I feel kind of bad for Jimmy Clausen just because he's like the QB in Rudy that "never lived up to his potential" or whatever and I don't think he's done anything douchey. Weis, on the other hand, is just huge.
I'm dying for Sept 5.
And for the record, I think U-M will go 8-4 or 9-3...
MSU will go 6-6 or 7-5...
Notre Dame will go 9-3 or 8-4 (weak schedule)
The first record is what I think will likely happen, and the record is what I think could easily be each team's record. All of them obviously before taking the bowl games into consideration.
I hope Michigan REALLY overachieves and manages a 10-2 for the sake of respect and recruits, but even if they go 8-4 I think people will still view them in better light and see that Rodriguez is indeed improving. People are dumb though, at least a lot of them, who don't see last year as a rebuilding year with a lot of square pieces for round holes. I live in Lansing though so I may see more of them then you who live in A2.
Have you forgotten the stretch Hummer limousine that Clausen stepped out of, bedecked with gaudy championship rings and fur coat, 45 minutes late to his own ceremony, to announce his intention to attend Notre Dame, immediately prior to announcing his intention to win four national championships and four Heisman Trophies?
This is the sort of thing that Notre Dame fans defend with "well he and his family were 2000 miles from home and didn't have their car and needed transportation" (and apparently a Ford Focus from the local Hertz just doesn't contain enough cargo space for that much awesomeness.)
I thought at the beginning of the season last year when he had the long hair he LOOKED pretty douchey...
to be fare, he looked douchey before the long hair too. blond spiked hair was not a good look either. he was one fake tan away from having the New Jersey classic douche look.
Just so you can't change it!
As for headlines, UT has a women's track athlete with the name Hooker. We get all sorts of "Texas Hooker sets record" headlines during the summer. Always piques the interest.
People are dumb though, at least a lot of them
More true words have never been spoken.
You see an article like that and you can just hear the thought in the writer's head: "Dear god, let real football begin soon."
Definitely one of those cocky recruits who felt like they were the greatest things ever before even stepping into a college stadium.
so you might want to rethink that 8-4/9-3/10-2 scenario. i know it is the time for inflated expectations, but you need to come down a notch or two. just think "bowl game" and be happy with that possibility.
