U-M Football Fan Day and Athletic Department Garage Sale Slated for Sunday, Aug. 14
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football program will hold its annual Fan Day on Sunday, Aug. 14, at Michigan Stadium. The autograph session and opportunity to meet the 2011 Wolverines team will run approximately from 2-3:30 p.m. EDT.
Prior to Michigan football’s Fan Day, the U-M Athletic Department will hold a garage sale from 8-11 a.m. at the indoor track building, which is located just beyond the right field fence of U-M’s baseball field.
Items for sale include football jerseys, football pants, footballs, shoes, polo shirts, t-shirts, shorts, basketball practice jerseys, warm-up jackets, warm-up pants, robes, gloves and other merchandise.
Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
Fan Day at Michigan Stadium is free and open to the public. All gates at the Big House will open starting at 1 p.m. Parking will be available in the lots adjacent to Michigan Stadium and Pioneer High School. In order to expedite the autograph process and accommodate as many fans as possible, players and Head Coach Brady Hoke will autograph one item per person.
Hoke will sign autographs on the Michigan Stadium field, and his line will be accessible only through the main tunnel on the east side of the stadium. Michigan players will be signing autographs along the north and south concourses at the concession stands by position groups. The offensive players will be located along the north side of the Big House between sections 29 and 38, with the defensive players residing on the south side between sections 8 and 13.
Please visit MGoBlue.com for player autograph locations.
All fans in attendance also will have the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to games against Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, San Diego State and Minnesota as well as autographed items signed by Head Coach Brady Hoke and Denard Robinson. To find out how to enter to win, please visit the Michigan Sports Marketing tables located at sections 1, 2, 4, 8 and 10 in Michigan Stadium

Football's media is also on Sunday prior to the fan day, so look for plenty of content early next week.
Terrelle Pryor is wondering why he didn't think about a garage sale first.
Can't wait to stand in long lines and giggle like a little school girl when Denard smiles at me!
"Blame no one. Expect nothing. Do something. That is attitude." -Bo
chilling out. Otherwise, it sounds like a great event.
"You owe it to every man, woman, and child in the State of Michigan to beat the Buckeyes and silence their fans! Now go out there and make it happen!"
- Bo Schembechler (Result: U-M 22 OSU 0)
They split up the QB's again this year. Now it's going to be a guessing game on which line will have Denard. I don't like that...
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Do they run this garage sale every year? Not that I'm unhappy with my Desmond jersey but I definitely would jump at the chance to get some more gear.
Side story: I don't go to Michigan but I do drive up to use the grad library for research for my history papers a couple times per semester. Last time my buddy and I were leaving and stopped at a crosswalk for a pedestrian to cross. It was Denard. Flashed me a smile. Made my day.
Last time they did the garage sale was (I think) 2006. And it had been a few years before that since they held one. It used to be an every-year thing in Cliff Keen run by the Ann Arbor chapter of the Alumni Association (when it was still a part of the Alumni Association) through an arrangement with Athletics, but the last few times it was held, it was run by the Athletic Department.
Just like other people...do you know what the prices are for like practice and game jerseys? Also, how many jerseys do they usually have and how crazy is it? Is it anything like the Hockey garage sale they have every year in terms of people lining up early?
Last time it was held the same day as the spring game, and it was pretty crazy. Yes, people lined up, but I don't know if it has ever approached the sheer insanity of entire youth hockey teams and rec players lining up all night at the hockey sale. Since they haven't had this event in a while, I'm anticipating it could get pretty crazy. This is the first one in the adidas era.
I don't exactly remember what the prices were, but I want to say it was about 30-40 bucks for practice jerseys, maybe more, and a lot of them were pretty beat up. Lots of people grabbing entire handfuls and then sorting later, etc. etc.
Really, the best deals on stuff aren't the practice jerseys and such, but other things like basketball practice shorts and lesser sport warmup jackets and things like that. And, keep in mind, a lot of the football and basketball stuff is massively sized for massively sized people.
Thanks for the info. Do you know what price range the game jersey would go for? Obviously more than the practice jerseys but I just want to know a price range in mind.
What time do you think I should get there if I want to be relatively early in line and get a good choice at jerseys?
In the past, for football and basketball (and for hockey as well), game jerseys haven't been sold at garage sales. Only practice jerseys are sold, which in the case of adidas, do not look like game jerseys. I would imagine that would continue to be the case.
All of your information is outstanding. It is all as I remember it. The best values were miscellaneous things like cleats. One year, a buddy of mine got Chris Webber's warmup pants and jacket that were about 10 sizes too big for him. Another buddy got Mercury Hayes cleats I swear they made him faster. I picked up a #28 winter practice jersey with pockets sewn into the front! It was great. We waited in line all night to get the first pick and it was totally worth it.
Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
What kind of prices do tings go for at the sale? Also is there parking by the baseball field?

I hope they have some Josh Groban CDs left when I get there!

"They will meet a dastardly fate here for that! There isn't a Michigan Man who wouldn't like go out and scalp those Buckeyes right now."
It seems that since they're only practice jerseys, I ought to be able to barter with some temporary tattoos. I'm sure I could in Columbus, anyway.
Making about a 4 1/2 hour drive down Sunday morning. About how early should I show up to get in line to have any hopes of buying a jersey? Hoping if I get there by 6am I would be fine. Any thoughts?

The worst part of living out of state. If I was a little closer I would make the trip to get to the garage sale. Is there any way to purchase items from afar?
