Email I got in regards to the Road Uniforms

Brians last post just reminded me......I was pretty bummed out by the look of those supposed road uniforms so I did what any obsessed fans would do...I emailed Bill Martin to find out if it was true. I got an email back from some guy named Dave who was sort of dick. Of course, he didn't really answer my question, which was whether or not those were really the new road uniforms. My email to him had that picture in it...here's the email from Dave:

Thanks for your interest and passion for the University of Michigan football program.
The home uniform has not changed with the exception of the logo and the away uniform has been modified slightly in comparison to the Nike design that has been worn the past few seasons. The uniforms were approved last fall and have been in production well in advance of the hiring of Coach Rich Rodriguez. He was not involved and linking the design with West Virginia or him is inaccurate and unfair to do. The team's road uniform has been tweaked on numerous occasions throughout the years and this slightly modified design is no different.
We appreciate your input and feedback. I hope you are excited about the upcoming season and like the uniforms once you see them this fall.

If you are interested, here's a little history on our uniforms throughout the years:
1879 White canvas with blue stockings and a belt
1897 Canvas and blue jerseys worn
1912 All blue jerseys with no canvas introduced
1915 Numbers are added to the jerseys
1928 Yellow jersey with blue numbers worn vs. Navy
1938 Fritz Crisler brings the winged helmet to Michigan
1949 White jersey with blue numbers worn vs. Northwestern
1959-68 White numbers added on sides of winged helmet
1968 Block 'M' added on sleeve of home jerseys for one season
1969 Numbers added to the sleeve of the jersey during Bo Schembechler's first season
1974-75 White pants worn on the road
1976 Numerals taken off the sleeve and put on the shoulder of the away jerseys
1980 Names added to the back of jerseys
1994 Michigan enters into agreement with Nike as official apparel supplier
1997 Home jerseys have Block 'M' hologram on the shoulder
1997-2004 Away jerseys have Block 'M' added to sleeve and numbers displayed on shoulder

It looks like the all whites that the Rams busted out a few times the last couple of years. It's not terrible, I guess, but nowhere near as nice as what we have.

This begs the question why we don't go back to the sweet M hologram on the shoulders, like in 1997. I'd say those jerseys were kinda good karma. And it actually looked very sweet, in a subtle kind of way.

The shoulders sported an embossed block M, not a hologram. It was tasteful, not something that you would likely see on TV from the press box cameras. Maybe in HD it would show up...

I think that there is some room for creativity in the timeline listed above (white pants, numbers on the side of helmet, yellow jerseys, etc.) to shake things up for a game. I'm not saying do it vs. OSU or ND, but maybe once vs. Toledo or Miami (OH).

New Uni's
New Uni's
First, I know a guy who works in the sports marketing department at U-M and he recently confirmed that those ARE the new road jerseys.
Second, it's not that bad. The only difference is the Denver Bronco-styled stripe on the side replaces it. A small addition to the former road jersey.
