The D coordinator situation

Submitted by THE KNOWLEDGE on
. yes . THE KNOWLEDGE is back to reveal some important information regarding the coaching situation for the football team . after an exceptionally disappointing season, the defense coordinator SS will be fired . yes . this is ABSOLUTE SOLID inside information that THE KNOWLEDGE is privy to . yes . those os you that know THE KNOWLEDGE know that I may have predicted the wrong coach (who has now taken on the job at UW) instead of RR, but I predicted a EXACT DATE of the hire weeks in advance . yes . the reason that Shafer hasn't been given the marching orders already is that RR wants to make sure he settles on the new DC before firing Shafer . yes . there are also rumblings about the 2 choices that the new DC search has been narrowed down to; however THE KNOWLEDGE shall not provide the information at this point because it is very sensitive in nature. you can rest assured that whichever the choice is, the fans will be HIGHLY pleased. suffice to say at this point that both of these candidates are excellent coaches with a proven track record of dominating defenses . yes . if you don't believe me, then wait until January end when Shafer shall be fired, and the new DC hired . then THE KNOWLEDGE will bask in glory . and leave everyone in a trail of dust . yes .

other than we will hire a new DC and fire the current one, which we all expect but if you all want to listen to me state the obvious (...in elliptical form...) i'm happy to oblige

I hope this is true. Crappy secondary or not, I can't believe that the results we saw this year on D were the best anyone could have gotten out of our players, and I'm not that optimistic that things will get dramatically better in year 2 when we lose (at least) three starters from the one part of the D that was functional (the D-line). And no, I am not pining for the return of Ron English. Frankly, I think it's been a while since we've had a really top-notch DC.

I hope this is not true. Another year of transition, adds truth to coaching disharmony...Schafer is smart hopefully he gets a chance to prove it. I love the ebb and flow of being smart...Our last good D cooordinator....J. Hermann..the 97 d was historic and don't give me it was all talent the #1 picks off that d were 1. As opposed to English who was a genius 1 year and a bum the next. Who knows?? Tenuta served up Charlie on the hot seat with a meltdown against Syracuse...C. Strong was shredded by Mich last year we should have hsd 50..maybe we can get Tommy Tubberville he's used to having D's having to bail out the O..Minor grinding out yards will seem like a miracle for Tommy..

was a bumb his second year. He managed to dominate Tim Tebow and really keep that offense in check in my opinion. And he held the Buckeyes to 14 points in a game where the defense was on the field a majority of the time. If you're referring to the App State game, the defense did suck, but the offense sucked too that game. App State was a better team than anyone gave 'em credit for. And Oregon was ranked #2 in the nation at one point, so it's not Ron English's fault the defense couldn't stop the Ducks. Otherwise, his defense was great. What does scare me is that Louisville let up 63 points against Rutgers. I can't defend Ron English for that.

If a coach is going to get fired, it usually happens within a day or two after the season ends. In Schaeffer's defense(no pun intended), Michigan's offense ranked near the bottom in all of NCAA D-I in time of possession, first downs made, third downs converted, as well as net turnover margin. How many three and outs did we make during the past season? Dozens. Once that stops, and the offense start moving the chains with consistency, the defense will be better. You can't have them on the field for 33-34 minutes a game and expect them to dominate. Not possible.

I know that our offensive production didn't help the defense at all, but most of the defensive game planning was terrible. Like running a soft 3-3-5 against Purdue. Why would you give an inexperienced quarterback a year to throw the ball to a soft zone down the field? I don't think I would really trust any information about SS being fired unless it came from Brian or TomVH, nothing against anyone else, but there has been speculation about SS being fired for a while. And I highly doubt that they will bring back English if SS gets fired. But it would be cool.
