SUMMER BREAK

(Click the image to view full size)

That time of year.  Keep reading in the next few weeks to see what

kind of job Glenn has lined up for his youngest son, and the

adventures that will follow as a result.

On Thursday we'll catch up with young Charlie, still struggling

with his recent Involuntary Spartafication.

THE BLOCKHAMS™ runs (typically) every Tuesday here at MGoBlog, and at least

every Thursday on its official home page.  Also, don't forget to check out our newest

feature, Friday Roughs, a spontaneous low-end comic based on trending

Michigan events, available on Twitter and Facebook every Friday.

Am I the only person that detects more than a little Kipling's "White Man's Burden" in this relationship?

No you are not. I am rooting for Yesh to be one of those A Beautiful Mind roommates, i.e. Des's hallmates are seeing him speak to an imaginary person this whole time (that at least would explain how Yesh got student tickets their freshman year when he didn't even know there was a football team until move-in day). The family mania has pushed Des so far that his mind created Yesh as someone he can project his fandom on, after realizing most freshmen at Michigan don't want to talk about the football team all the time.

Considering all of the walking stereotypes he could have roomed with at Michigan (the BAMN member, the crazy evangelical, the frat guy, the Daily guy, the industrial stoner, the gunning for the B-School dude, the LGBT dude, the Young Republicans dude, the Ron Paultard dude, the plays the stock market dude, or even an actual member of the team). Perhaps there is a real Yesh who asked to transfer rooms after the first week, and got moved into a room with Super Christian Guy. He gets preached to much less now.

...British colonialism's White Man's Burden and Des's Michigan Man's Burden is that in this case, Des is the host, not the non-invited guest. I suppose Yesh has the choice to adapt to the social structure of his new environment or seek out an alternative path (of which at Michigan there are many).

So we'll see what kind of job Des will have over the summer.  Will we also get a glimpse into life without Michigan sports in India for Yesh?  Maybe next season will see the formation of an IM cricket league??

Sidenote: Apparently, there is an american college cricket league

and many teams, including msu, osu, Minny, Iowa, Indiana, Northwestern, Ball State, and VT participate.  So yeah - Michigan Cricket!

I'm glad you asked that question Psudolus!

You may be glad to hear that the Elite Football League of India begins their inaugural season this year, providing over a billion people with a reason to watch the best sport in the world 8)

Of course, the Hyderabad Skykings are the Michigan of the EFLI (because that's the team my RNG told me to pick!).

EDIT: Though the Delhi Defenders actually have wings on their helmets, so maybe that's more apt.
