nice to have a #1 class, just to see it there, annoying everyone at 11w, bucknuts, ozone or wherever. I've learned not to read the comments over on 11w. It's always a bunch of chest thumping. I could care less what random OSU homer fan thinks. The articles are good. Alex is good, Ramses is usually very good, but no thank you to the peanut gallery.
Big Ten Recruiting Rankings: 6-3-12 (UPDATED 6-4-12)
While this post may become somewhat obsolete in the very near future, here's the latest update of the Big Ten recruiting landscape. Not a whole lot of action this week, but both Michigan and Notre Dame get big pickups during the same week that Rivals updates their rankings. Changes since the last rankings:
6-2-12: Michigan picks up Maurice Hurst Jr. Notre Dame picks up Jaylon Smith.
UPDATE 6-4-12: Michigan picks up Henry Poggi.
Big Ten+ Recruiting Class Rankings
|Rank||School||# Commits||Rivals Avg||Scout Avg||24/7 Avg||ESPN Avg||Avg Avg^|
^The average of the average rankings of the four recruiting services (the previous four columns). The figure is calculated based on the raw numbers and then rounded, so the numbers above may not average out exactly.
NOTE: Unranked recruits are counted as two-star players.
On to the full data after the jump.
#1 Michigan - 20 Commits
|Maurice Hurst Jr.||DT||MA||3||4||4||3|
The Wolverines gain a commitment from Maurice Hurst Jr., and Csont'e York goes from unranked to three stars on Rivals. (UPDATE: Michigan also get a commitment from Henry Poggi.)
#2 Ohio State - 11 Commits
No change for the Buckeyes.
#3 Notre Dame - 13 Commits
The Irish win a huge head-to-head battle against Ohio State for the services of five-star linebacker Jaylon Smith. Mike McGlinchey also gets upgraded to four stars on Rivals. Notre Dame is still just behind the Buckeyes for second place in the team rankings.
#4 Penn State - 8 Commits
Curtis Cothran picks up three stars from Rivals.
#5 Nebraska - 8 Commits
No change for the Cornhuskers.
#6 Michigan State - 7 Commits
Damion Terry goes from unranked to three stars on Rivals.
#7 Illinois - 10 Commits
Jesse Chadwell and Austin Schmidt each earn two stars from Rivals.
#8 Iowa - 7 Commits
Nic Shimonek gets three stars from Rivals.
#9 Wisconsin - 6 Commits
No change for the Badgers.
#10 Northwestern - 2 Commits
No change for the Wildcats.
#11 Purdue - 2 Commits
Danny Etling picks up four stars and Randy Gregory three stars from Rivals.
#12 Minnesota - 1 Commit
No change for the Gophers.
Indiana is the lone Big Ten school without a commit.
Brady Choke? That doesn't even make any sense, he hasn't choked away any games yet.
And by their logic, then Saban and Mack Brown are idiots too, with a first come first served approach.
Also, they shouldn't knock the MAC, it is the cradle of coaching after all
I hope people who see how stupid and childish that looks will refrain from referring to Urban Liar.
Agree with your point, but at least one of the names is accurate.
"After seeing what a terrible person (Tuley-Tillman) really is I wouldn't want him anyway"
Yeah, he even burnt a LETTER! How dare he?
But seriously, I'm still trying to figure out why all these OSU fans are so pissed off about that. If an OSU commit did the same thing I wouldn't think twice about it. So LTT doesn't like OSU, tough shit.
I have the following opinion of random 11W posts...
You could say the same thing for RCMB posts as well.
I don't think that's a fair comparison. 11warriors is a well run site. RCMB is just a horrible free for all.
Your meter must be broken, it shouldn't be fluctuating at all.
If I may, this is a new poster whose account was made today that everyone already hates. His views in no way reflects most of the others on 11w
Doesn't seem like any of his post add anything substantial. I'm on the verge of deeming him an enemy troll...
I think he's just an idiot. Probably migrated from bucknuts
By the way the post is written I think this is the most likely answer. It's just a little too ridiculous.
I'm usually dissapointed going to 11W because I hope to see stupid shit like that, but I rarely do find it there. I actually get more of it from my real-life friends that are OSU fans.
They already have Reuben Foster (the #2 player in the country), two other high-4*/5* guys in Jonathan Allen and Altee Tenpenny, and several other top-100 players. On top of that, they are serious contenders for Robert Foster and Robert Nkemdiche. Michigan's class very well may match Alabama's in terms of depth, but the services seem to put a lot of emphasis on the top 50 to 100 players, and Michigan will likely not be able to keep up with Alabama on that account.
After Alabama, it's likely to be some order of Michigan, Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and USC, unless some school goes on a run and hits with a bunch of top prospects in a row like Stanford and Ohio State did last year.
Honestly, this isn't the view of 90% of Buckeye fans. Especially the informed ones who follow recruiting. Michigan is putting together a legit #1 class. Hurst and Poggi are awesome additions for your D. Credit where it's due, Hoke is killing this year.
at IU and let him know he can get started anytime soon?
Seriously ... I was wondering the same thing ... how can the people at IU (or Minnesota for that matter) look at the state of things and not crap their pants?
How are they going to be able to field a team? Indiana and Minnesota should atleast be able to come in and trump some MAC schools and snipe some of their commits.
And IU fans in the winter.
After all these decades of futility, you can't blame IU for trying something different. I mean, I'm sure they've been "sending out offers" and trying to "recruit players" all this time, and that hasn't worked. So maybe the new strategy is to focus on other things, like developing walk-ons and designing trick plays.
None of these lowly recruits. They want high 4*s and 5*s only. And you know they can flip any of tSIO recruits on signing day…
I know you're being sarcastic and all, but Michigan fans do realize that all but one of our recruits are 4 and 5 star guys right?
Now that Jaylon Smith has committed he can start working on other players.
"I'm pacing myself, Sergeant."
Do OSU fans say where they expect to get linebackers? Because from where I sit, they're running out of options.
According to them, 2014 and the ones they already have.
Or O-linemen... talk about running out of options. Pocic to LSU must have really stung.
Out of our projected starters (Ryan Shazier, Curtis Grant, and Etienne Sabino), two of them are true sophomores with at least two more seasons of service. Then you also have last year's starter at MLB, Storm Klein, who's a more than capable back-up if anyone happens to go down.
After those four, the rest of the depth chart is filled with a plethora of freshman talent (Conner Crowell, Josh Perry, and Luke Roberts). Then you have David Perkins, Jamal Marcus, and Camren Williams from the 2012 class that haven't even shown up on campus.
I felt like LB shouldn't really be that high of a priority this recruiting cycle for the Bucks. I know that they were only targetting a small amount of LB recruits and seemed to only offer the "can't miss" prospects. I am disappointed though that neither Jaylon nor Alex decided to commit, but it's far from a desperate situation.
Right now I'd place O-Lineman and WRs as a more pressing issue in terms of recruiting, and I'm hoping the last few remaining spots gets devoted towards those positions.
The five Midwestern powers are really starting to seperate themselves from the pack.
It's interesting that Ohio fans think that we're getting 2/3 star talent when all of our commits are 4/5 stars except for Hill and York.
No don't you get it, they're talking about after Meyer snake-oils all of our recruits away. Then we'll only have Morris and that blob Tuley-Tillman, and have to fill the class with a bunch of 2/3* players to go with our MAC level coaching.
Ohio State fans should stop posting when they are high...
...still holding out for those blue chip prospects on Signing Day 2013 I see...
Indiana...the best D2 school in the big ten.
With all due respect, that distinction should go to Minny
With all due respect, Indiana has been building a rock solid tradition as a DII school in the big ten for decades whereas Minnesota appears to be an FBS school at least a third to a half of the time
That's my point. Indiana is clearly the worst D2 school in the B1G, and Minny the best.
FYI, ESPN is releasing their updated rankings this week, so all or most of those NR should become stars.
You might need players on your team. Just sayin'.
the Hoosiers.... almost like we should have a sympathy draft. The top 7 teams can all lock in five recruits of their choosing. Then the Hoosiers can pick one recruit from each team.....
They are already nearing sub MAC status. Soon the BCS is not going to let teams count wins against IU towards their season total. Or if they do count them.. then you are required to put an "*" next to it and say that you only played freshman and sophomores that week.
Seriously - I just checked Scout and observed that Western MI, Toledo, Kent State, Miami OH, Mass, Buffalo, Bowling Green already have verbal commits.....and Central MI has 5.
