  • Recruiting Rankings

I am back from vacation, and so are the recruiting rankings. In this update, we see Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State all edge closer to Michigan, which still is well ahead of the field despite not picking up a commit in forever, you guys. Changes since last rankings:

3-26-12: Notre Dame picks up Rashad Kinlaw.
3-27-12: Notre Dame picks up Corey Robinson. Penn State picks up Curtis Cothran.
4-1-12: Ohio State picks up Ezekiel Elliott and Jayme Thompson. Wisconsin picks up T.J. Watt.
4-4-12: Notre Dame picks up Devin Butler. Iowa picks up David Kenney.
4-5-12: Penn State picks up Greg Webb.

Chart? Chart:

Big Ten+ Recruiting Class Rankings

2 Ohio State 7 4.14 4.00 3.86 4.00
3 Notre Dame 10 3.30 3.30 3.70 3.43

9 Iowa 1 4.00 3.00 3.00 3.33
10 Minnesota 1 3.00 1.00 3.00 2.33
11 Indiana 0 - - - -
12 Northwestern 0 - - - -
13 Purdue 0 - - - -

^The average of the average rankings of the three recruiting services (aka the previous three columns). The figure is calculated based on the raw numbers and then rounded, so the numbers above may not average out exactly.

NOTE: Unranked recruits are counted as one-star players. This may be a bit unfair this early in the process, considering there are many unevaluated recruits out there at this stage, but that's life.

If you look hard enough at

If you look hard enough at the "3" next to names of Taco Charlton, David Dawson, and Jourdan Lewis in the Scout column, you might actually seem them turn into a "4."

I didn't even see any 3s ...

Gazing at all of those 4s has blinded me. It's the only number I can see anymore, with the exception of an occasional 5

Based on camp performances

Based on camp performances from all three of those recently, you have to think they'll be four stars soon enough.  Especially Taco and Dawson who were dominant at the camps they were at.

Lewis, too.  Scout has 250 guys with four stars, and Lewis is currently their 251st-ranked prospect.  It sounds like he was great at the Adidas event, and I'd be shocked if he doesn't have a fourth star when they update their rankings.

I think Lewis should be a

I think Lewis should be a four star as well, but from the reports I read, Taco and Dawson were "dominant" whereas Jourdan Lewis was "impressive" and "a top performer."

Not to take anything away from Lewis at all because I think he'll move up, but the other two had perfomances that made the gurus say, "duh, these guys need to move up."

Im pretty sure Lewis was ranked as the 2nd best player at the Adidas camp behind Jaylon Smith, where Joe Mathis and Dawson participated.

There could certainly be new

There could certainly be new surprises that pop up with Penn State, but it just goes to show what you can do when you have a coach who actually steps off campus and recruits once in a while.

And I believe O'Brien will be a good coach...

With Wisconsin having a new quarterback (No way near Wilson/Tolzien), and OSU 1-yr. band, PSU in good shape to win division. All that remains to be seen is O'Briens results on the field. Really hope he does well. Nice boost for the B1G (only if their b-ball team can pick it up. WAY up)

Wait 'til next week!

when maybe, just maybe, Ace can update this list with more commitments from among the visitors expected for the Spring Scrimmage this Saturday.  Yes, once again, all is well with Michigan Football!
