^The average of the average rankings of the three recruiting services (aka the previous four columns). The figure is calculated based on the raw numbers and then rounded, so the numbers above may not average out exactly.

NOTE: Unranked recruits are counted as one-star players. This may be a bit unfair this early in the process, considering there are many unevaluated recruits out there at this stage, but that's life.

On to the full data, after the jump.

Seriously, congrats on having 16 recruits already.  It really doesn't mean anything.  And, sadly, it's really the only thing you clowns have to thump your chest about these days. Especially after OHIO embarrassed you in front of the nation Friday night.  LOL

Keep churning out your useless recruiting charts.  It's cute.

If anybody should be butthurt about recruiting, it's Michigan fans.  I'm not sure there's another school in the country that historically under performs more than Michigan.  That's the cold hard truth of the matter.  Michigan should change its mascot to the Paper Tiger.

Thanks and welcome to our board, you are right, we are classic underachievers and thanks for reminding us of all of that.  No board on bucknuts to go to or just bored and decided to come by.

Hey this is the first time we've had recruiting charts like this in a while. This isn't a "cute" thing. Maybe Ohio is sucking now because they don't have these recruits... It takes players to win. And this is where you get your players from. The funny thing is you think this is a joke. That's why Ohio is a joke

A class this big and this good this early is just phenomenal.

How does the current average average compare with the final 2012 average average?  I suspect it's higher already.

Michigan finished the previous class with a 3.53 (25 commits), while Ohio State had the top avg avg with a 3.65 (25 commits) [LINK]. As Moleskyn said, it's pretty early to compare classes, but it's difficult not to expect that this class will be better than last year's.

I love this class.  I can't wait to see how the staff fills the few remaining spots. Ohio is starting the smear campaign about our class on their boards already.  A coworker and Bucknut informed me their experts say that some of our recruits can't pass their entrance exams.  They didn't have any names of course. Sad.

Ohio's only chance to beat us in the mythical recruiting rankings this year is to finish #1 in the country. Just how it should be. Love it.

In theory do the rating services award stars or numeric scores based on a comparison to an ideal player, or relative to other players in that class?

Would it be useful to also rank the schools based on the average and or median overall and/or position ranking of their recruits? I thought this might help to shead light on the top 3 or 4 star vs low 3 or 4 star discussion.

I was thinking that it would be iinteresting for each school to answer questions like:

What average ranking would be required for the rest of (some other school's) class need to be to stay ahead of or pass Michigan?

Whatever our metrics this is clearly already a great class!

Rankings are rankings. It takes the coaching of college football coaches to get them where they should be. The good thing is, we have a lot of good recruits with a lot of good coaches
