Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings 3-15

There have been a lot of requests for this to become a recurring feature (as it was on Varsity Blue), so I'll post the rankings weekly in the diaries, and frontpage it occasionally. The team rankings are very rough estimates until the services have released more full individual grades. Forgive me for being a day late this week, as I'm having all sorts of internet troubles at home.

Action since last rankings:

3-8-10 Minnesota gains commitment from James Farrow.
3-15-10 Ohio State gains commitment from Chris Carter (Not That Cris Carter)

I'll only make charts for the teams that currently have commits. Rivals 250 means that a given prospect is on the Rivals 250 to Watch, and ESPN 150 means that a prospect is on the Watch List for the ESPNU 150. Scout ratings are on the 5-star scale.

Well done.... I'd like to also see someone perhaps do separate research on how many additional stars a player earns AFTER Coach Rod offers. Surely Conway will pick up another few.

Yeah, so OSU got two more recruits yesterday and this is already out of date a bit. Hopefully Michigan will be able to snag one or two before the next update.

I think Michigan will start out slow this year and won't make a big jump until near the end of the season. Several reasons for this. First, I think a lot of recruits are worried about RR's security. Players that may fit RR system may not fit another coach's so they don't want to make a committment until they know RR will be around for more than just one season. That leads me to reason #2. The NCAA investigation. This somewhat ties in with reason #1. If Michigan is given light punishment I don't they the violations will have much impact on RR's job. And that leads me to reason #3. Michigan's win/loss record. RR needs to win and show improvement. If Michigan can win this year and the NCAA hands down light punishment which means it wont' affect RRs job status, I think Michigan will get a HUGE jump in recruiting towards the latter part of this year. They won't have the slots available for a large class, but I think they will get some very highly touted recruits

we'll be picking up some high end recruits after November. I agree, several factors are clouding early recruiting. Hopefully, any punishment from NCAA will be light and RR can win 8 games this season. Thanks for the weekly updates Tim!

Also, we're going to have a much smaller class this year, so the coaching staff will probably be a little more picky and not tie our hands by offering a lot of guys early.

What we need this upcoming season is a quarterback we can trust that can give us 100% EVERY game. Tate did that in the early stages of the season, but not so often at the end. Except in Wisconsin when he was pretty good, but still. We need a trustful quarterback.
