Big Ten Network Announces 2009-10 Hockey Schedule
Editor's note: Press release. All Michigan games are road games(!).
Additional games to be available live on www.BigTenNetwork.com
CHICAGO – The Big Ten Network will televise nine men’s ice hockey games this winter, featuring Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin, and all will be broadcast in high definition.
“There is a growing passion and enthusiasm for college hockey and we’re looking forward to bringing that excitement to a national and international audience,” Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman said.
The network, available to 73 million homes in the United States and Canada, will televise a regular-season contest every Friday or Saturday, beginning with the North Dakota-Minnesota matchup on Friday, January 15. The second semifinal of the CCHA Tournament will air live at 8 PM ET on Friday, March 19. The network makes its selections in conjunction with the regional sports networks which have existing rights arrangements with both the CCHA and the WCHA.
Additional games throughout the season will be available live anywhere in the world at www.BigTenNetwork.com. The network has made a significant financial investment to provide fans with a high-quality streaming experience that is comparable to watching a game in high definition. The network’s full streaming schedule for men’s ice hockey will be available at www.BigTenNetwork.com prior to the start the season.

What with the seven-second delay required if they planned on having any microphones in Yost at all, the telecast would probably end up sounding like the end of Mutha'uckas.
(Seriously, though, I think the Yost crowd could probably do something with "He's gonna wake up in a smoothie")
I had an interview with Mark Silverman that should be out in a few days. This has to do with Yost, among SEVERAL other facilities not being updated to accommodate the BTNs new technologies.
They hope to have everyone up to par by next school year.
I'm assuming this has something to do with either the HD broadcast or the live streaming feed.
"So I come out of Ohio Stadium after we beat the Buckeyes, and right there on the hood of my friend's car, some one took a dump, in the shape of an 'O'. no shit. Oh, sorry, bad pun."
I worked TV broadcasts at that building for three years streaming over the internet. What could they possibly need from Yost?
I'm just going with the line they gave me. I got my follow up questions answered today. It sounds like it has more to do with the negotiations with CCHA/WCHA are a bigger issue. They weren't speaking about Yost particularly when I asked them. The didn't know the specifics of most of the individual arenas. Or so it sounded.
One would think that the BTN would broadcast the College Hockey Showcase since it involves four B10 team. The CHS will be played at the Michigan schools this year November 27/28.
I don't mind not having a home game broadcast. Less time waiting for the guy in the penalty box to close the door and resume playing.
Hopefully going forward BTN will expand their hockey coverage. 10 games is not enough.
And I'm kind of surprised to see CCHA Tournament Semifinal #2 on here. I thought FSN usually had these games.

No home games at all? Wow, way to not showcase the best home-ice advantage in college hockey to a national audience, BTN.
