Has the team started practicing there yet? What will happen with Oldsterbaan?
Behold The Glory Of Newsterbaan
Reader David Williams passes along a number of photos of the new practice facility for your perusal. Click for big—now with swanky lightbox!
Oh, no: I've been tripped up by my own prohibition against Diaries shorter than 200 words. Hoist upon my own petard, as it were, and forced to ramble on aimlessly as I watch the word counter in Windows Live Writer inch towards the minimum. Go, word count, go. You are so far away and only getting closer so slowly. It seems impossible to get to 200 words. How do I do this on a regular basis? Hell, I publish things 10 times that length on a regular basis and oh god I'm just barely getting to 100 right now. This is probably a lesson about subjective perception. Like if I was to eat a lime after a week-long fast I'd probably be pretty okay with that, whereas now like ick. Once there was a point at which we had three different fancy whiskeys around and going back to the stuff that's 20 bucks in a 1.75 L plastic bottle—which had tasted okay before—was agony. But you get used to it again. In the future when I'm wealthier—
The Oosterbaan will be used more for other teams to practice and the occasional IM games.
I just wonder if there is a new Barwis beach in the newsterbaan
We (MMB) were allowed to practice in Oosterbaan, which we called "Bo's barn," before each bowl game, as soon as the team left for the bowl. That was always one of the great times of the year, except that the dorms were closed because it was Xmas break, so you had to find someone with an apartment to bunk with if you were a freshman/sophomore. We learned the show in two days and then flew to the bowl. Great times. I remember it always seemed a little tough to breathe in Oosterbaan. I got winded a lot quicker than usual. The Silverdome had the same effect.
I assume the band will also get more access to Oosterbaan now that the new facility is up.
I played rugby in my time at M - 2004 Midwest Champs! - and our winter practices were held at Oosterban.
Because the team has a lowly club status we couldn't get the facility until 11:00 pm, at which point we'd practice until somebody shut off the lights at around 1.
Now that the football team isn't using the facility the majority of the time, other teams on campus should benefit from better practice times.
But then again, I suppose practicing until 1 builds character?
IMs will get more time, but the biggest beneficiary is probably club lacrosse.
Lets get that 3peat.
Biggest beneficiaries should be any club, or club varsity sports that play on a field, which includes Lacrosse.
And GoBlue on the 3-peat.
clearly you haven't played IM Flag Football... nearly all of the playoffs are in the Oosterbaan
PS: I can't figure out how to write the "e" with the little accent above it on my notebook
verbosity of your diary.
Bit of a cliff-hanger at the end though
Everyone deserves the fancy whiskeys.
The knowledge that Zoltan can now practice punting indoors must leave all of our opponents in a cold sweat. They cannot begin to comprehend the magnitude of the punting force that will be at our disposal.
I bet they made it just for him.
The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Space Emperor of Space Lord Zoltan.
when i think of Zoltan punting in doors, i can't help but be reminded of that scene from 'Hancock.'
"Like if I was to eat a lime after a week-long fast I'd probably be pretty okay with that, whereas now like ick."
Frickin hilarious! I needed the late night chuckle. As for the new practice field, is it me or does it still seem like the punters are going to have to use the middle of the field or they'll hit the roof? If so, they won't be able to practice that roll out punt too much in doors.
I like how the field design matches that of the BH.
That natural light is so nice. Has there been word on any public tours?
Given the off season, I would be happy reading Brian's rambling, unfocused thoughts over Rittenberg's fluff.
Moar diaries liek this plz. kthxbaiduud.
In the future when Brian is wealthy, he will stand on the shoulders of giants and hurl boulders at the unwashed masses.
Don't be hatin' on limes.
don't be hatin' on whiskey then
can you make rambling diaries a regular occurrence?
I find it hard to believe that said building can actually contain a Mesko punt.
Rush N Attack said. There is no way Mesko can punt in that place. That roof is going to be all scuffed up. Actually no. It's going to have a lot of holes in it.
Don't worry about length. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words. So your diary was 7200 words long...
I think the actual quote is 10,000 words, but Kodak made it 1,000 words cuz it was more kewl for advertising
Anyone know what that white paperish stuff over the windows is for? It would look much more grand and GO BLUE if the windows looked like windows.
My guess would be that it's to diffuse the sunlight. With those windows, the natural light will be more even, and the sun won't get in anybody's eyes like it would with a regular window.
But that's just a guess.
sole purpose is diffusion
A main reason is probably that they don't want anyone to see inside. Other teams, media, Lane Kiffin could see what we were practicing, our plays, who's hurt...
