Notre Dame 31, Michigan 0

Tire Fire

Michigan had never been shut out in the history of the Michigan/Notre Dame rivalry. Michigan hadn’t been shut out in any game since Ronald Reagan’s first term. Neither of those things is true right now. In fact, nothing is true but the alcohol.

Football is strange sometimes. Michigan outgained Notre Dame 289-282. If you find comfort in this fact, I applaud your zen-like quality, or the quality of your alcohol. Devin Gardner turned the ball over four times. Matt Wile missed two field goals badly. Devin Funchess may be hurt. Raymon Taylor may be hurt. Jabrill Peppers was too hurt to play. On a day in which the Big Ten looked terrible, Michigan’s performance stands atop the flaming heap as the worst of the day.

This game will cause many questions to be asked. For now, I can provide you with only one answer.

Yes fire the chef as you say. They left gardner in anyway. Take him out put Morris in. And yes it was a horrible game WE GOT SHUT OUT!  That is a horrible game, and it happened against ND; the one we played the chicken dance last year for. I f you are going to play the chicken dance and lose; it at  least needs to be a respectable loss. A shut out of 31 points; is no where close to respectable!! Then guys like you want to think this acceptable; you must still be hung over.

Is anyone really surprised at the result?  I am not sure I thought it would be this bad, but did anyone really think UM was going to go to South Bend and win?  With this sieve of an offensive line?  Was this line going to lose it's two best linemen and be better?  Did anyone think UM had turned the corner because of a blow out of a poor App St team?

UM is 50/50 to even win at Rutgers this year.  Wait until we get into the weekly grind of our Big 10 schedule.  We take five star talent and turn it into two star.  Honestly I am not sure why 5 stars want to come here?  What a joke we’ve become.  Wonder if Brandon will actually sack Hoke?    I doubt it's going to get better next year either for those who are eternally optomistic.

we picked up where we left off last year. For all of Mattison's bluster about the defense being really special this year - they sucked - maybe worse than last year.

I actually think the O line looked OK, until ND found out about our tackles on the outside. Now everyone in the B1G knows.

Do we really want to suffer through year 5 to figure out if this is going to be anything other than mediocre to awful?

Hoke is not being replaced mid-season, so he will get the opportunity to right the ship.  Nuss will also get the opportunity to build the offense as the year goes on.  If things improve and head in the right direction by the end of the year, this will be forgotten.

My worst fear is that a really bad B1G props up a bad coach and earns him a reprieve or extension!

Hoke 100% reminds me of Bob Davey, Ty Willingham, Ron Zook, etc.  Generally considered good guys, but not especially inspiring as coaches!  You have to have the personality is bigger than the pressure, bigger than the AD.

RR may not have worked out, but I am not sure the clean break from the past was the worst decision.  It does not need to be as drastic of a change next time, but someone who can utilize the players we have and at the same time use an innovative approach that is not strictly manball.

he is a loser and has zero clue what Manup or Manball ot whatever means.  Same with Mattison ... the fact an NFL team hired him is mind boggling.  The ony solution is for the new pres to fire them all because obviously they have each others backs.

Hey,  see you next week and we drop $500 at the tailgate  plus tickets. ....not  I'm out you guys win.  This is a money sucking farce.

Know someone who was hired for a position that they shouldn't have been. Brady's in over his head. Plain and simple. No development of players, no effective game plan on either side of the ball, no heart on the road.

to compete at a much higher level than this team has shown.  How many FBS coaches would trade their roster for this roster?  I would have to think quite a few would.

After historical embarrassments to MSU last year and now to ND, coupled with a pretty embarrassing effort in the bowl game against Kansas State, you have to look at this staff.

There are enough good athletes on this team right now to be more competitive than this team has shown.

Lloyd tried to retire after the Rose Bowl, but Bill Martin told him that he was needed back and talked him into it. Martin never seemed to understand that the push back on the stadium expansion was from the lunatic fringe, not Michigan fans as a whole. He had the first approval, but there were still a couple more, and he seemed to think he was in a battle to the death on it, and that he couldn't manage a coaching change at the same time.

He should have been ready for it and wasn't. Lloyd was spent and just trying to get through one last year, and that's why App State happened. But it was Martin's fault for not being ready to begin with, and Martin's fault for STILL not being ready 11 months later.

That's where this whole shitstorm started and it just won't go away. But the situation now is a statement on the failure to get past it, which goes more on Mr. Ego and his puppy.

Rich Rod will have a better record then UM coaching a less traditional power in a better conference.  Hoke's only good team was a a group of Rich Rod coached players.  He's regressed every year, this one included.  It'll be funny watching Rich Rod out perform us the next couple of years.

A big Michigan problem is they are stuck in the past.  Everyone in the program, from the coach up, thinks this is Michigan and we are great just because of our name and the fact that we dominated the first half of the 1900’s.  That was a long time ago, even the Schemblecher days were 25 years ago.  Everyone needs to realize were not great because we are Michigan,   The ‘This is Michigan for God Sakes” attitude is a main problem.  Our name and our past is irrelevant.  This should srub this stupids legends jersey thing and quite living in the past.  We need to be innovative instead of conservative.

I really think these kids come to Michigan and they think they are going to be good because they play for Michigan.

I have nothing but the most massive respect for you, your mind, and your devotion to the Team. It was a shitfest of a Saturday, and a day that will live in infamy. God bless you for burning through the booze to post something that was literate, not to say humane. Me? I'm still working my way through the booze. My humanity, and my literacy, are currently on hold.

Still upset.  When we went 11-2 I remember being estatic in the games because the coaches actually made adjustments.  We seemed to be o.k. until the second missed FG and then the wheels just completely came off the bus. I'm still upset.

I bit my tongue before the season started, when we were injury-free, except for Butt, but now we have four very troubling injuries (or are they, in the new Mums-the-Word era?). I still like our prospects in conference play, especially as Wisconsin, MSU, & OSU have proven to be more than vulnerable. I know, I know, ... I'm thinking Wisconsin for the conference championship.

Alright....this loss is still punching me in the gut like Ali!! This was worst loss since app st in my eyes. Total domination on offense and defense. Countess burned more times than smokey the bear!! Our offense looked scared...defense looked hesitant...NOT what was the game plan!! On top of this...the big ten....can you say laid an egg?? OMG Michigan shut out first time since Reagan...taint loss first since '82 and the 3 losses first since football was football!! I live in Arkansas....belt buckle of SEC and have never been more embarrassed...I'd rather be a "piggy" fan at times...that's how bad I see the future. I'm not one to jump on the wagons but I'd happily join the hoke/Brandon one out of town. We live in a time of text tweet jab and touch...we and the big ten are getting slaughtered... We have a MAC coach who our AD thought was Bo...not the case. This staff is lost..trying to find itself. The purge should have happened last year...Funk despite personal issues GONE....Mattison...like his approach and love of game but retire!! Do I have a answer or name for replacements...nope that is up to the new AD....this has to stop and in a hurry or there will not be a Michigan fan base left. GO BLUE!!
