My wife has been taking her archtectural board tests.  Across from the test center is a Bennigans.  After the last particularly brutal test, she came out and said that all she could think about was a cold one at Bennigans.  I knew it must have been a bad test to think about Bennigans.

be trapped in a TGIFridays than go to Bennigans, although both make me want to stab myself in the eye with the unwashed silverware. Although, and I think we've talked about this before, the Monte Cristo at Bennigans is solid. Few restaurants will give you that opportunity to kill yourself with the food.

The other nice thing about Bennigan's is that they're the self proclaimed "Blues Busters."  While I've never been in a Bennigan's, I think that if was borderline suicidal, I could stop in there, survey the clientele and suddenly start feeling a lot better about my own life.  It's like Prozac in Jalapeno popper form.  So, they've go that going for them.

Wipeout is the greatest show ever created since June 24, 2008. American Gladiator + American Idol screening shows - coordination = Wipeout. If NBC and ABC could somehow work it out, I think Wipeout: Biggest Loser Edition would be the highest rated show in history.

I've been meaning to watch Wipeout, but I was busy last night watching Wall-E.  Ah, well; it was worth it.

Hey, have you watched the Trapped in a Japanese Game Show show?  That looks like it could be funny (because Japanese game shows are some of the funniest out there -- where do you think they got Wipeout?), but for some reason I don't trust it.

It’s not even that good of a rip-off.  Ninja Warrior is so much more entertaining, especially because there’s no guarantee of a winner.  They start with 100 guys (or girls on the Women of Ninja Warrior specials) and if you fail, you’re out.

...but so is almost every show on TV.  I like the American version because the contestants tend to be cockier, which makes it all the more satisfying when they're blasted in the junk by a boxing glove.

Have you guys seen that Japanese show called "Human Tetris"? Where this giant foam board advances on a person, and the foam board has a cut out that the person must fit through, lest they get knocked from their perch? It's amazing.

is 3-4 years late to the party. MXC is old news now. Ninja Warrior is decent, but stuck on a crappy channel. There's no way Wipeout could have been a long term developement project.

I saw some of Wipeout last night and it was quite possible the worst show ever. After having seen one person go through what ever device once, seeing it several more times gets very boring, very quickly. That show can go away now.

Since everyone is talking about Japan I feel the need to take an enormous dump on the conversation by saying that stuff seems way less wacky after living here for any significant amount of time and that the Japanese shows all copy one another and blend into one mess of brightly colored text and plastic looking, high-pitched voiced women all of whom I would still definitely have sex with immediately if given the chance. BGH-Speaking of taking dumps, is that story on your blog...I shudder to think...non-fiction?? Reminds me of that part in trainspotting a little bit minus the sleeping with a middle-school (in the book, HS in the movie I think?) girl part.

I think you just provided a good template to describe every country's tv shows; you'd just have to alter some things after "blend into one mess of..." and it would work fine!  Although I think "plastic looking" may be a requirement for tv shows throughout the world.

Really, I just decided that I don't want Japanese game shows to become boring, so I don't want to live in Japan.

BGH-Glad to hear that it isn't based on anything that's happened to you recently. Anyone who attempts to write short, scat-themed stories and posts them on their blog is good in my book.

No I live in East Lansing currently. You can tell the difference because they speak more fluent Engrish in Hong Kong. That was moreso a "by the time you guys read this I'll be playing hooky and you'll be at work hahah" post.
