Is anybody else watching the Meineke Car Care Bowl game between UNC and WVU? I care about this game for a couple reasons:
1) I'm interested in what UNC is doing, because Butch Davis is doing a good job of recruiting and I'm wondering what the buzz is all about.
2) I'm looking for similarities and differences between Rodriguez/Magee's offense and Stewart/Mullen's offense.
3) I'm watching the 3-3-5.
So far I'm not impressed with the 3-3-5. UNC is doing a good job of exploiting the edges with outside runs and misdirection. They're pretty solid up the middle, though.
I'm wondering if Michigan might recruit different types of players to play strong safety. The WVU strong safeties look a little undersized, even though they're listed at 200+ pounds. Players like Brandon Smith and Isaiah Bell and Mike Jones seem like they might be able to play that strong safety position but be a little stronger against the run. I'd prefer to see them attack downhill rather than wait for the runner to get to them.
Just thinking out loud... It's only the beginning of the second quarter, so I'll see more in the next hour or two.
