Assuming he sticks with Michigan (knock on wood), I think that he would benefit greatly by redshirting. It would be pretty hard for him to come in and win the starting job immediately so why not redshirt him and then burn it if the need for depth arises? While we're on the subject, how do most freshman feel about redshirting? If they're not expected to make an immediate impact then why not? I didn't understand why Feagin wanted to play so badly at the end of the year when it would cost him his redshirt.
Will Devin Gardner Redshirt?
it will mean the 2009 season was uglier than hoped. So pray that we can afford to redshirt him.
I'll take that one step farther - if Gardner doesn't redshirt it means the '09 season was uglier than we could have thought possible. I think a Gardner redshirt is damn near guaranteed.
Depends on the COMP that he brings to TATE and DROB. Also, lets see how far his mechanics have gone. We'll see.
Gardner not redshirting would require one of either Forcier or Robinson being unusable at QB. So hope it doesn't happen.
I want him to redshirt, especially after watching his film a few times, but I don't think if he doesn't that that means 2009 was ugly--it will mean, much like right now, we have no depth at QB. With transfers commonplace now, there's no guarantee that Sheridan Forcier and Robinson all will be here next year, and there's no guarantee Denard will even be playing QB--as most of you know, most offers for him were as an athlete. Any program wants 3 QB's that can play if needed, right now we don't have that.
have a lot to do with the durability of our two tiny QB's. I hope he can redshirt though.
they'll both be sophomores and have had a full year with barwis
OK so just to get this straight the general consensus here is that if TF and DR don't have a good year then he may play but if they do well he will red-shirt. OK on to the next subject now please.
