He's slow and small. He's the all time leading rusher because he got to start and get all the carries for 4 years. UM has produced a lot of backs with a ton more talent/production. Love what Hart did but I wouldn't want him on my NFL team as anything but a backup.
Why did Mike Hart get drafted so late?
at the combine wasn't impressive.
Hart is never going to be anything but a backup and perhaps a spot starter. He's slow. He could barely outrun college linebackers. How's he going to outrun anyone in the NFL?
Not to mention he has always had durability issues...
Funny that people say slow. Peyton Hillis, Jamal Lewis, and Priest Holmes are not fast and they all did pretty well. I don't think his speed has much to do with it. Now he isn't that big I guess, but he is built like a rock. 5 foot 9 200 pounds is massive.
I was upset with this reply until I saw who posted it. Then I said, of course he did.
You just compared Mike Hart to Jamal Lewis. The problem with Hart is that he's small AND slow. You can be one or the other and still make it work. There are successful big but slow (for NFL standards) backs as well as small but fast backs.
Mike Hart may have a successful career, but I doubt it. My point is that it shouldn't be a mystery as to why.
No, he's right. Speed doesn't matter.
There are a lot of players who have had stellar college careers but did not translate well to the NFL. The games are different. What makes you good at one might not make you good at another.
So you are telling me that there is not a small and slow rb that was great? He isn't really small. He is built like a rock. Yes he is short, but MJD is 5 foot 6 and is the shit. MLD is faster but they have similar builds.
There is but one answer.
You asked us why Hart didn't get drafted higher by people whose job it is to draft great talent. They obviously didn't think he was worth a high draft pick.
He never got in trouble with the law, he seems to be a good, hardworking player, and he's a good pass blocker. So we can rule those things out as reasons he dropped to the 6th round, right?
He's injury prone.
Stop arguing. What do you want us to tell you? There's no magic reason that he didn't get drafted high. It's not racism. It's not that everyone in the NFL hates Michigan. It's not that Mike Hart screwed every GM's granddaughter and now they're blacklisting him.
He's injury prone.
Get over it.
I know for a fact that Mike Hart banged out the granddaughters of every single GM in the NFL. Even the ugly ones. He's still waiting on a few that haven't turned 18 yet, but rest assured he will intercourse them as well once they reach the age of consent.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Insider information is great, no wonder he set all those records
I thought the sparty coach spoke bad about him among the NFL GMs. As a matter of fact,ESPN said that played a BIG part in what rd MH20 got picked.
MH20 should have NEVER taken on sparty...
I always liked to watch MH play, because he played with such a passion for the team and the game. Hart was undoubtedly a team player and the way that he was able to go through his entire college career (with the exception of the Cap One bowl '07) without a fumble is a testimony that fundamentals alone can do wonders for you. He missed almost all of the '05 season and half of the '07 season due to injuries and yet holds the rushing record for the school. I really think that was in large part due to Jake Long being who he was and Carr calling left off tackle so many times. I think I could have good success behind Long and I am 50 pounds overweight and run a 4 minute 40. MH had heart and that will get you so far but at the end of the day he is small, slow and prone to injuries. He had ankle injuries 2 out of 4 years he was there. Keep in mind, Henne was there at the same time and with a big arm like his you had to respect the pass and that bought MH a little bit of extra running room. Now all of that being said I would have loved to have had him in the back field last year.
I think it was racism. It's the only thing that makes sense.
The NFL hates half-white people. I am filing a grievance with the EEOC.
Mike Hart's white?
Once again more MgoBlog jackasses. Do you know how to have an "educated debate"? I guess not.
Seriously, how old are you?
If you're 14, I completely understand what's going on right now.
But if you're 18 or older, there's no excuse for the things you say.
McFarlin is really a group of 15 year old kids having fun w/ us while they skip school or whatever. That, or the WLA fucking with us. There's no way he can be for real, after this thread, no way.
I like the idea someone had saying that McFarlin is actually Brian trying to (a) generate hits, and (b) make up for a lack of good material due to the off-season. Makes a lot of sense if you ask me.
You asked a question that has a definitive answer. There isn't really anything to debate.
I was about to post the same thing.
Hart fell to the 6th round. McFarlin asked why.
We gave him answers.
McFarlin said "nuh-uh."
That's not much of an "educated debate."
I'm becoming more and more convinced that he's a troll.
The part that makes me sad, is that if McFarlin and I both stopped posting on MGoBlog today, he would be remembered for longer than I would, by a LONG shot. You truly are a legend, McFarlin.
Not true. At least not to me. You're my hero. I do miss your previous photo, but i still respect your new one.
We couldn't tell...since your the blog idiot!
Probably because Mike Hart was mediocre. He racked up a bunch of yards behind a good offensive line. Broke records because he got a ton of carries over four years.
I'll give him credit for the lack of fumbles. And him running his mouth on tv was entertaining.
You are incredibly misinformed.
Now this I disagree with. Mike Hart was a very good RB at UM. A big reason he had SO many yards was due to number of carries, but he did a lot with those carries. He found holes others would not have. He ALWAYS fell forward, often gaining a badly needed yard. He was slippery, often missing the first tackler. He put the game on his back when he needed to. He probably doesn't have what it takes to be a star in the NFL, but he was far from mediocre in college.
I know this. I really just wanted to twist McFarlin into a stupor, hoping he'd self-combust.
Jamal Lewis ran a 4.3 coming out of Tennessee! His size/speed combination coming out of college was virtually unparalleled; I remember Mel Kiper saying that if it weren't for injury issues he'd have been the #1 overall pick in the draft. He may be slow now, but he's 235 pounds; comparing Mike Hart to Jamal Lewis = FAIL.
Football Outsiders did a study about "adjusted" 40 time, where they use 40 time adjusted for the size of the RB. Of all of the athletic metrics available, this was the one that had the best predictive quality in terms of NFL success. Hart's adjusted 40 time would have to be one of the worst imaginable, which in and of itself explains his draft status.
HOWEVA ... Mike Hart's running style is *extremely* unique, and I'm not sure if applying conventional scouting wisdoms to him will work. Plus, he's a complete player who can block and catch. He might be an exception to the "adjusted 40 time" rule; I really wouldn't be suprised if he outperformed his draft status and was a decent NFL player.
I also wouldn't be surprised if he proved to be clearly non-NFL caliber due to his physical limitations and was out of the league in 2 seasons. Either way, I wish him the best.
I've been through the other threads, and I can't find a comment from McFarlin anywhere that already touches on this subject, or is a verbatim copy of the OP. Is there a secret MGoBoard that I'm missing? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
If I understand what you're asking about, it was yesterday and that thread appears to have been deleted.
It was comedy gold. I was just noting a change in his SOP.
I have also always kind of wondered why he got drafted so late. He set Michigan's all time rush record and was an absolute beast for us.
Thats pretty cute how people create fake accounts under my name, just goes to show who the real mature people are. Oh well, it gets my name out there more, so thanks! And fuck Michigan, They have not won a national championship in 40 some years! 97 dont count, it was a half championship. Big Ten too hard? lol
I think you meant "97 doesn't count." Now that you've shown you're a WVU fan, you can go back to their blog now where poor grammar goes unnoticed.
Does redundancy count as poor grammar?
Why to use the grammar attack, cant handle the fact that Mich is not a powerhouse?
I was going to say that at first, but he made a comment knocking the Big Ten.
In his first thread (it was a memorable one), he invited me out on a date to the UM-OSU game. So I figured OSU.
Do you troll because you are that obsessed with Michigan football or do you troll because you legitimately have nothing better to do with your time?
Why are you on this blog anyway? All you do is post crap and then rag on people when they call you out.
Makes me wonder what the point is to all this. Are you just bored?
I'll make his next post to get it over with.
LOL DICKROD SUX TERRELLE PRYOR 3-9 .28 FAMILY VALUES LOLOLOL
But seriously though, saying Mike Hart should have been drafted higher or will outperform expectations because of his intangibles is one thing. Not comprehending why he was drafted so low is sheer stupidity.
One of the reasons he got drafted so low was because of durability concerns. McFarlin ignores, or is ignorant of, the fact that he got hurt and missed most of the season. So at least one of the reasons he was passed over so much is because of an issue that has been proven to be a problem for him in the NFL.
I will knock the Big Ten all I want. Big Ten sucks balls.
I don't think you'll get many arguments about that.
The more pressing issue is why anyone would spend so much time pretending to be a fan of Michigan....seems, well, honestly kind of something a loser would do.
On the bright side, at least you can be banned without us feeling like dicks. Dick.
I miss the old McFarlin.
So what's your team, buddy?
Is it real? He can has this ring?
I've been saving since he gazed longingly into my eyes and said, "TATE FORCIER about as fast as Denard lol bcuz seen hilite tape faster then dbs 4.3 on SLOW day."
McFarlin, you big stud! Take me to bed or lose me forever!
Show me the way home honey!
And so ends the McFarlin era.
McFarlin, prepare to get banhammer pwned.
O son, I tried defending you, but your ignorance cannot be remedied. Sadly, you have revealed yourself as a deadbeat. Please leave.
He should be the topic of all jokes on mgoblog. For dumb posts we can call them McFarlin's.
you might be on to something. I smell...REALITY SHOW!
Too slow, Too small, Too many injury issues.
End o' story.
whats your picture? i cant see it. other than what looks like a block M and the words "reality"
I was wondering the same thing.
He's like a cat. Won't leave you alone all day, until you call his name; then he's nowhere to be found.
We should look at ourselves in the mirror, and ask us if we did anything to help create this monster who is both aggressively stupid and hates us. Upon reflection, I'm filled with guilt and self-loathing, and feel I should reach out and try to establish a detente with McFarlin. Are any of us really any better than him? Don't we all breathe the same air, have the same concerns, have people we love? Maybe we all harbor these mad impulses, and thus who are we to denigrate him? I believe that...
Screw that. I forgot I'm always filled with self-loathing. McFarlin is a dick.
MIKE HART SHOULD GIVE HIS PAY CHECK TO JAKE LONG,WE ALL KNOW HE WOULD NEVER HAD THE SUCCESS WITH OUT LONG.
this happened. The way I see it, McFarlin is one of the following:
A) A troll from the beginning. This would be an epic charade, considering that although his posts were completely ridiculous, he did have me fooled into thinking he was a fan, albeit an incredibly dumb one.
B) A dumb fan, turned troll. After constantly being berated by all of you evil sarcastic bloggers for his carefully crafted and always enlightening opinions, he realized that he had no place being a Michigan fan. As such, he decided to commit MGoSuicide by way of the mighty banhammer.
Personally, I am leaning toward scenario B. Alas, I'm sure he'll fit right in on Bucknuts.
I agree. Definitely B.
Whoa, McFarlin is a troll? Man, color me surprised.
