* Seth and the Smurfiest Smurfs to Ever Smurf a Spread 'n Smurf
* Brian Cook and the Flyin' Zooks
* The Aceconsin Cheesebenders
* Doctor Heiko and the Mad Fitzmillens
Well played, Thorin.
I think I just broke the internet.
Also, just in case this actually goes through, Seth drafted Denard. So Seth wins. Right? This shouldn't even be a discussion.
That got him my vote.
Also, the internet is broken.
He also has Kovacs
I voted for Denard's Smurfs, but I like the Aceconsin Cheesebenders for best name.
I picked Seth's based purely on the name. That's some good smurf.
The Fritz video was a strong argument from Heiko, but the rules are the rules.
Poor Brian. I don't know what's up, I think his team is strong. I guess some people just know football, because I voted for him.
Let's do a side-by-side comparison, shall we? (Players rated on their effectiveness in that offense)

I'm sure Brian could debate a few of these, but I'm getting a score of 18 to 8 in spots I'm getting better production from. Counting plusses (+ means it's a clear upgrade; ++ means a major one) it's 30 to 19. A closer ratio but still tilting Sethwise more than 60-40.
Brian's got an excellent, excellent left side of the line, a decent center, and a right side that I liken to Alex Mitchell and Courtney Morgan...running a SPREAD! He's got Abbrederis but a not-good passer, so horray for 4 extra yards per punt return. Man blocking out of the spread is great if your running QB is a Logan Thomas or some such, but Scheelhaase isn't that type of guy who's going to truck through a safety. Since my interior DL can shut down his belly game, the base O vs. base D here basically comes down to whether Scheelhaase or Toussaint can get momentum before meeting Kovacs. And no. Are Groy and/or Mewhort going to pull fast enough to beat out the two fastest linebackers (Hodges and Brown) in the conference? No. Even Lewan and McDonald won't do that, and then you're still hoping your medium-sized pluggers trying to single-block Short and Hankins haven't themselves been pushed back to the pulling lanes. I've got this game in the bag.
For similar QB skillsets (though at goodly different levels), I'd much rather have a smart kid like Ferentz or Sirles who will read what's coming and use a pass rusher's momentum against him than a Mewhort who understands little more than "crush puny man." Lewan and McDonald can only crush one donkey apiece, and I have plenty of donkeys to overload that side with.
On the other side all of his blitz power is coming from OLBs. Remember how well that goes against Denard? Heiko's "This is Sparta" defense (if he's srs about going 3-4 and if he wasn't using up Steinkuhler on offense thus rendering him completely ineffective) is scarier to my team than Brian's.
Plus you have Denard so you win
My dog is named Smurf... so I guess that counts for something.
