Anybody more ambitious than I that can look up teams with open dates on Oct 17, 2009?
FWIW. Michigan doesn't seem inclined to get re-involved.
i have no clue.
Akron as of now only has 2 non-conference games.
Could we get Rice back on the schedule?
Do they still have a Joe Bob on the team?
Akron would be great. I'd prefer a bad 1-A team than a good 1-AA team. But, for 1-AA teams, here is at least a partial answer for teams that have open dates on Oct. 17:
North Carolina Central
My money is on North Carolina Central. But North Dakota would be cool.
What about Albion? I almost played football there, and when I visited they were pretty good. Yeah?
I'm not sure we schedule 3 MAC teams in one year. I'm surprised enough we already have 2 directional Michigan teams. I've been looking through cfbpalace.net, but they aren't good with dates, just opponents. Finding most of the smaller FBS school future calendars has been rough. I found 18 non-MAC/non-BCS teams with an open date, I just can't verify if that date happens to be Oct 17.
This link gets updated fairly regularly, but as you can see, they don't have the Eastern game posted yet (or say, Alabama canceling the Tulane game from August). Again, the lack of dates for conference games is a pain in the ass for smaller conferences. They also have FCS schedules.
Actually, from the SEC, only Ole Miss is "available" that weekend. Both Tennessee and LSU have bye weeks but have full 12 game schedules. Oklahoma has that weekend available in the Big12. All other schools in the Pac10, Big12, & SEC are unavailable.
BigEast/ACC composite schedules aren't published yet. I don't know when that happens.
teams (that are not Vanderbilt) don't travel north. The future UT/OSU series is the only time I can recall a big time SEC program heading north of the Mason/Dixon.
THE HORROR, I could live without a 1AA game.
Can we get Wazzu or UW on the schedule?
A Sun Belt team would be nice too.
After the Utah and Appy scheduling disasters, I hope Martin brings a real cupcake to the big house.
I don't want Jake Locker anywhere near playing us next year. Sorry. If we could be sure he'd be injured, fine, but that's not possible. UW can win any game he plays in, but he's basically all they have.
It would be pretty cool to get one of those southern teams to come up in the middle of November and force them to play in the cold.
I'm telling you guys we should pull the Vandals into the Big House.
what about delaware? i have no idea if they are open or not, but wasn't there some chatter about them trying to schedule a game with delaware? would be cool to see two winged helmet teams going at it. princeton maybe?
or for throwback sake, how about slippery rock?
Plus it's a total App State scenario in waiting.
Does this mean that we are going to play 12 games without a bye next year?
