Wednesday Presser Notes 10-14
Brief today (mostly because Rich was 20 minutes late)
- Tate didn't really practice yesterday, but RR expected him on the field today. If he's healthy, he'll start on Saturday.
- Brown and Minor should be close to 100% today. If both are healthy, Minor is the starter. The coaches still want more game reps for Shaw and Smith.
- Woolfolk will stay at CB for the time being, but he could go back to safety in the future. They like having 2 veteran CBs to defend the pass.
- Kelvin Grady has gotten less PT because they've been going for more (football) experience in big games. Martavious Odoms has gotten more snaps instead.
- Moosman has improved at center, particularly with his snaps.
- Zoltan has been punting very well from both the rugby kick and standard punt plays. He might have even been kicking too well against Iowa, beating his coverage down the field.

Mesko DID out-kick the coverage on 3 or 4 occasions. I hope they work on that. I really miss Darnell Hood, one of our best gunners of the past five years.

Hood was awesome, tackling as the gunner is very difficult. Shazor was very good as well.

I agree he did outkick his coverage. But outkicking coverage is not a result of kicking too well. It's a result of not getting enough hang time on your punts. Kicking 70 yards isn't very benificial if it gets there in no time. It is something that needs to be worked on.

Because almost on every punt I was yelling about how bad our gunner sucks. Hey kid! Slow down a bit, form up, and make the frickin' tackle! Instead, he was flying in WAY too fast and only getting an arm on the punt returner.
C'mon Rich, coach him up!

We need Molk back for Penn State.

We need Molk back period. It is very noticeable how the team plays with him and without him. Molk is definitely an anchor for The Wolverines!

Is it still out kicking your coverage when not only the 1st misses, but the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th as well?
