Tennessee is not recruiting well just because they got 18 dudes
Good thing we would never hire a Coach from Miami of Ohio. Why would we ever want a coach from a MAC school?
I'm a recent alum, and am part of the alumni association. i don't agree with you on any of that. that was one of the most irrationale and illogical posts i've ever read here. and you're '84 grad? that's unbelievable.
Maybe when you grow up, you'll understand.
what don't I understand? explain please. i mean seriously, you're so irrational. mcguffie is one of the best RB's in the country? based on what? being a 'youtube sensation'? He has a lot of potential but he's not one of the best RB's yet. We have one of the best group of LB's in the country?!?! WHAT?! are you serious? our best LB was a lowly ranked running back in HS.
i almost crapped my pants when i read we have the best LBs in the country
and also, all of the guys who belong in the 'Jackson state prison' as you referred to were recruited by lloyd carr (carson butler, kevin grady, etc). and the only freshmen out of RR's 1st class who has gotten into trouble (Stonum) was a LC recruit.
and who cares if RR wasn't the 1st candidate for the job. Bo wasn't the first candidate when he was hired.
Technically, "Jackson State Prison" was broken up into multiple correctional facilities years ago.
And you are a tool. He hasn't even had 1 year, let alone three. How to you live with the uncertainty that the sun may not rise tomorrow? You couldn't hold RR's jock.
have the best uniforms in the country, therefore we should get the best coach and win a national championship. Really? Best fans? We boo a bunch of 18 year old kids who are busting their butts. You obviously know nothing about football and are the typical rich alum who talks to his country club friends about how good we are and yet you know nothing about the program. Please hold true to your promise and dont give another dime, because none of us associated with the program want it. In the meantime try learning something rather than running your mouth about things you know nothing about.
One of the things I know MOST about is college football and specifically Michigan football. Some of my good friends are former team members. I have never booed the players. I realize that, unlike the pros, the players are a direct product of their coaches and the coaching scheme. Please cite for me in my original post where I booed or blamed the players? Don't put your words in my mouth, particularly when they are such uneducated words.
I'm a rich alum? HA! That accusation is rich. I barely am able to pay my bills each month and I've never belonged to a country club. When I donate to the Alumni Association and to my alma mater, LS&A Fund, and sometimes to the Economics Dept., I give even when it hurts. So, perhaps its YOU who shouldn't be "running your mouth about things you know nothing about."
"Some of my good friends are former team members."
Do you know Andy Moeller, because otherwise knowing some players doesn't make you smarter. We've been over this on mgoblog.
not only does he know Andy Moeller, but he almost redshirted before getting hurt. he also loves coffee topped with whipped cream (gay) and cigars...a great combo
You, my friend, are an idiot. Good day.
Can't believe what I'm reading.......
we need to band together and ignore the trolls. This reads like every stereotype all of us rational readers can't stand to the point that it may be incredibly clever satire. I can't even tell any more. I won't even bother picking this post apart, maybe I should send it to Brian to get pulled.
. . . anyone should ever say anything truthful or honest or negative about Coach Rodriguez. If he told you to jump off a bridge, would you do that too?
First, learn to spell. You're a recent graduate and you spell "irrational" with an "e"??
Second, you think "explain please" is a complete sentence? Are you an engineering grad?
McGuffie was one of the best running backs in the State of Texas in high school. I've never even seen the YouTube video so talked about. But I've seen him play - in person. He is impressive, especially for a true freshman and I've seen some of the best in person (Anthony Thomas; Chris Perry; etc.)
I don't know what linebacker corps you're looking at, but Obi Ezeh, Jonas Mouton, Austin Panter, and Brandon Herron are fantastic LBs. They're young, but that doesn't make them bad. Each of those four will be playing in the pros in 2-3 years. Several of the legitimate media support this assertion.
Finally, what you don't understand is that in the real world, if you screw up at your job and perform worse than anyone even predicted, you lose your job. You're fired. "RichRod" hasn't even lived up to the lowest of expectations. I would think beating one of the worst teams in the MAC should still be an easy accomplishment even for a program in transition.
So, clearly, you don't even understand how business works. You invest capital and if the leader of that company doesn't provide a reasonable ROI (that's return on investment, because you probably don't know) or the ROI isn't in the foreseeable future, that leader is replaced.
Grow up and you will understand.
you're so full of shit its ridiculous. you're very condescending and i bet you think a whole lot of yourself. at least you're happy with that. it sounds like everyone else here thinks you're a complete douchbag.
you've seen mcguffie play in person? where at michigan stadium? or in HS, when he was going up against HIGH SCHOOL defenses. honestly man you're such a dick. thanks for spelling out ROI (i was an econ major) and letting me know what the real world is like. b/c the 11-12 hour days i work at now at my trading firm hasn't taught me shit.
is spelled "douchebag".
To think your grammar is so fantastic. But I would think that an LSA grad should know that the period goes inside the quotation mark. You've made that mistake in several posts on this topic. You can always count on anyone who criticizes spelling and grammar to be a dumbass who makes mistakes as well.
Well, please don't repeat that to anyone, because I was an Economics Major too and I really would prefer not to be associated with traders like you. Hey, and thanks for blowing my 401k account too! You traders are as good working on the market as you are knowledgeable about football (FYI, that's a simile, douchebag).
haha you're so ignorant man. and you're a troll, so this is my last response to you.
I don't know how old you have to be to understand this, but Brandon Herron has never started a game at LB for Michigan yet and has played sparingly on special teams after being redshirted last season. Somehow he is considered "a fantastic LB"? Oh by the way, Austin Panter was replaced after the first game by Thompson.
"So, clearly, you don't even understand how business works. You invest
capital and if the leader of that company doesn't provide a reasonable
ROI (that's return on investment, because you probably don't know) or
the ROI isn't in the foreseeable future, that leader is replaced."
In this case, the acceptable ROI is foreseeable. Rodriguez took less talent at WVU and made then MNC contenders. And in his first year they went 3-8, so its not like our first season should be time to panic.
"I don't know what linebacker corps you're looking at, but Obi Ezeh, Jonas Mouton, Austin Panter, and Brandon Herron are fantastic LBs. They're young, but that doesn't make them bad. Each of those four will be playing in the pros in 2-3 years. Several of the legitimate media support this assertion."
Well he makes a good point there. What a penis
I think that you need to learn to spell.
It is fastest, not fastestt...
I'm just throwing that out there.
I've been a reader of this blog for over two years now. I've never posted a comment until now. The guy who wrote this post is an idiot. There are so many things I wanna say.
lacking foresight or scope; "a short view of the problem"; "shortsighted policies"; "shortsighted critics derided the plan"; "myopic thinking"
This has to be a joke, right? The elitism, the identification with the alumni association, the myopia and arrogance all scream satire. It is almost too perfect. I bet on some OSU board somewhere they are having a good laugh at our expense.
ehhhh, this guy is really good at masking sarcasm. at least, i hope so...
this is a BS post. congrats, domer.
of you to correct grammar and spelling over the internet.
When your argument falls apart and you're exposed as an idiot, always attack the other person's spelling!
My internet detective skills are not as good as you. I will take note of this in the future to spot the trolls better.
Do you guys collect troll dolls? Or are you so geeky that you have to use a derogatory term like trolls for people who don't agree with you. Straighten your pocket protector, Myron.
Sad that people who claim to be Michigan grads or fans of Michigan are willing to exhibit such lower levels of intelligence. I expected better. Throwing your money into a fireplace would clearly have been a more productive use of your money than the tuition you paid. Better still, you should have gone to an inferior school like OSU or PSU or MSU. That way those of us who actually use our brains wouldn't have to be associated with you in any way.
Are you so threatened by people who have a differing opinion than you? If so, it's time to return to your cubicles and suck the teets of your bosses.
Gee, you used the term myopic. Actually, you probably Googled 'short sighted' and like a dweeb who has just taken a moment away from masturbation to use a thesaurus are patting yourself on the back.
After Michigan goes 4-8 this year and maybe, just maybe, 5-7 next year, you'll reconsider your blind faith in RichRod. When Tyrelle Prior decided not to come to Michigan, you should have all read the writing on the wall.
Have fun. Troll indeed.
You may want to try clicking that little 'x' thing in the upper-right-hand corner of your screen. You apparently tripped and somehow ended up on the internet for the first time.
For future reference, masturbation has arguably been socially acceptable for quite some time, so I doubt anyone finds that type of accusation insulting.
hahahah tjthurston you giant child molesting ass
You sure you want to leave that post up bluetell? If you looked at my profile, you know I'm a lawyer. Do you really want to risk a libel suit?
I'll risk it. You look like a child molester. You have a great big pedo smile.
Also, for someone that has this:

for the free plug. I appreciate it.
And it really moves the football debate along.
It does, however, add nothing less than what you started the whole thread with:
"I'm a 1984 Alison Play (LS&A) grad with substantial money into the
Alumni Assoc. I am an avid fan and was just at this year's
homecoming. I don't feel it is right for the winningest program in
college football and their fans to wait 3 years until Rodriguez
straightens out the program or recruits the players he needs or
whatever line of crap is being fed us now."
Because I forgot, being an LSA grad with "substantial" money into the Alumni Assoc makes you a football expert. Also, because you "don't feel it's right" is also another excellent debating strategy. You are a failure. Now get the fuck off the internet before you hurt yourself.
i got threatened with a lawsuit on the internet?
You are fantastically clever. You did a Google search on my name and found my website.
Which part is the failure? That I have my own law practice? That I know how to spell? That I haven't lost a trial in the last 10 years? or that I support the National MS Foundation because my wife has MS? Really, enlighten me. Which part is the failure? And what are your accomplishments in life?
You don't even identify yourself. You all use these geek Internet names, hiding behind a mask. That is exceptionally brave of you all.
You want to attack me because I know how to spell and use grammar? When was the last time a personal attack was a valid debating technique?
Is mgoblog.com only for people who blindly support Michigan football and no criticism is allowed? Really?
No one is ever allowed to criticize the coach? No one is ever allowed to support players that are trying hard and, to no fault of their own, are being criticized by the media?
Well, that's a really rational blog. Attack anyone who ever says anything negative or attempts to offer constructive criticism. I'm truly sad that you think so little of your Michigan education.

In the courtroom, I'm sure the "grammar" angle works much better than attacking someone's character.
Or, you know, try eating less. You could also dance to Peter Gabriel and Genesis. Either way, your post shows you already lack self-control or restraint.
You've been a lawyer for 20 years and admit to barely being able to pay your bills.
Your accomplishments include nothing prior to 2006 in your 20 year career.
Also, you attended tOSU.
Bragging about your accomplishments online.
i just cant believe someone would marry your exceptionally irritating ass
go post on a buckeyes forum, please- just go
You are my new hero. This has made my day I cannot thank you enough.
I'm sorry, but whether or not you can correctly spell "douche" has very little to do with whether or not Brandon Herron is a fantastic LB. Which he is not, he may be a great kid, a great person and definitely plays football better than I do, but a terrific college LB he is not. Do you read this blog at all? If you do, you would realize that LB is one of the weaknesses of our team.
If you can prove me wrong, I will gladly eat crow, but I'm pretty sure you'll find that the majority of football fans will agree with me on that point at the least.
Finally, someone who would rather debate issues than launch personal attacks.
Granted, Herron hasn't had a lot of playing time. But he is a redshirt freshman and there are some other guys who are getting more time. Granted, he's only had 2 assisted tackles. But this kid has great potential. If RichRod ever lets him play. He has speed and a good head for the game. Look at his information on Rivals.com. I grew up watching Penn State LBs and feel I have a pretty good eye for LBs. He may not be in the top of the NCAA now, but I think its a factor of playing time. I don't think you have to eat crow now, but perhaps in a year or two, Herron will be one of the best on the squad.
But that's my opinion.
dude, pay your bills before you donate. Seriously...that's just stupid.
dude, pay your bills before you donate. Seriously...that's just stupid
hahaha i said i wouldn't respond anymore to this guy but i was thinking the same thing. that's just dumb.
I am an avid fan
but you went to OSU for law school
Let's face facts. Rodriguez is the second choice bride. Maybe not
even second choice. Clearly Les Miles, who showed that he isn't much
of a Michigan Man and hopefully won't even win the SEC, was first
choice. We're stuck with a coach from the Big East? West Virginia?
REALLY??? That's the best we could do? AND we had to pay a $3M legal
penalty because of it? This is really, really wrong and the alumni
should stand up and say so.
Regardless of how you feel about WVA or the big east. RR is obviously a good coach. WVA didn't beat Oklahoma with natrual talent
I'm quite sure there would be a large number of coaches - great
coaches - who would want to coach the best college football program in
the country; with the best stadium in the country; with the best
uniforms in the country; with the best fans in the country; and with
the best alumni and smartest students in the country. Right? Am I
Yes, you are wrong. We are not the best football fans in the country
We should not give Rodriguez a free pass to do this to our beloved
alma mater / school. The guy doesn't even try to ease us into his new
system. He doesn't even recognize that he doesn't have the players to
run a full spread offense.
RR has said a billion times that he knows he doesn't have the right personnel and that he's working with it. Which is the reason we aren't really running a "full" spread offense
Thank God the defense and the special teams
are still decent; they've kept us from being 0-6 and keeping the losses
reasonably close (Toledo would have had some more points as well).
When a defense is bad the other team scores more?? Teach me more.
I could care less how much dropping Rodriguez would cost the
university. Most graduates of WVU don't even know how to spell. Is
this how Rodriguez is going to treat our student athletes? We're not
Miami; we don't go to Jackson State Prison and recruit the fastestt
guys there. We actually get good athletes who can think. And spell.
And pass exams with out having surrogates take their tests.
I don't even know where that is coming from. So RR is here to recruit fast kids from jail so he can teach them the spread. But he will NOT teach them to spell. Don't even think it for a second
Time for Rodriguez TO GO! NOW! And if he won't go voluntarily, FIRE
HIM. NOW! Don't let this get any uglier.
so so stupid
We've got, perhaps, one of the best running backs in the country in
McGuffie. He's being wasted. We have some of the best linebackers in
the country, who now won't be showcased nationally. This is really a
This is where TJ reveals that he hasn't watched a michigan football game in 30 years
I don't want to see any more of your destruction of this
program that thousands of my dollars have gone to support. You're
wasting my money and I'm fed up.
Didn't you say you struggle to pay the bills? Bragging about the money you have given UofM makes you no less dumb than you were before
P.S. If anyone from the Alumni Association or LS&A or the
administration or Board of Governors are reading this, be sure that you
won't get another dime from me as long as you keep Rodriguez as coach.
I assure you, no one cares
The Big East is certainly a stronger conference than, say, the MAC, but that didn't stop UM from bringing in Bo for the '69 season.
I know this thread is a joke, but I'll humor this guy anyway.
A change had to be made. In Carr's last seven years as head coach, we had two wins over Ohio State and ONE BCS Bowl game win (think about that). We've lost three Rose Bowls, two of them pretty badly and one that was a heartbreaker. We typically lost a game in September to take us immediately out of any hypothetical MNC run, and we always found a way to generally play down to our competition. I've lost count of how many games we've lost in the fourth quarter and how many mobile quarterbacks have killed us. I guarantee you were one of the many people who were starting to get pretty fed up with this whole gig.
This isn't to pile on Carr. He was a good coach and he got us a 'ship. But his ceiling was starting to become 9-3/8-4. Michigan could have decided that underachieving and getting lucky once every 50 years was good enough and stayed in house, or they could've grown a pair and taken a risk. This team could be so bad the next couple years that they disband the football program and tear down the Big House, and I would still support the decision to cut the Bo-umbilical cord and try something different.
I have faith that Rodriguez will make Michigan elite again. If this team shows no improvement next year, I'll be more concerned, but I'm not going to be calling for his head after six fuckin' games. Chill.
For the first reasonable response to my post.
And most of what you say I agree with wholeheartedly. Carr was a great coach, but past his prime.
I also was highly frustrated by the spread offense beating us so badly (not just App State, but Oregon too) and consistent losses to OSU. [Going to Ohio State law school did nothing to alter my love for my alma mater and the football team FYI]. I also think once OSU got Pryor (which admittedly was after we got RR), that they were headed for the spread offense too. He is someone to be feared from what I've seen so far.
But my main argument is, he has tried to completely change the program without the matching talent. I've heard all the arguments in favor of doing so (wanting to teach the young players the new system from the get go), but I think there should have been some middle ground. Threet is the best of the 3 QBs we've got, but can't handle the offense right now. What is wrong with the concept of being somewhere between the Pro offense and the spread?
But as for wanting him to go now, I just don't think he can turn it around. Not in the 3 years every one is giving him. At WVU he had White, who was custom made for the spread. I'm not sure he's going to fill all those scholarships in time to change to his system. And that's a lot of time and wasted opportunities.
Plus, missing a bowl game is a big deal. We lose a LOT of money for the University by not going to a bowl.
But since obviously, everyone thinks I'm either a douche or a child molestor, I'll have to leave it at that.
"Plus, missing a bowl game is a big deal. We lose a LOT of money for the University by not going to a bowl."
Not really. The bowl money is split amongst all 11 Big 10 teams. As long as all the B10 spots are filled the money is the same. Unless you want to argue monetary loss due to lack of exposure, but that's neither significant nor relevant. Not going to a bowl for one year is likely saving money for the school as they don't have to fly the whole team and band anywhere.
Should we start talking about a subject you have even basic knowledge on? How do you feel about animal crackers? Frosted or not?
This guy owns his own law firm, and hasn't lost a case in 13 years, and he is struggling to pay the bills?
Based on his posts, this surprises you why?
Hasn't lost a case in 13 years...a perfect 7 and 0
Mr Hurston, is it necessary for you to point out that you have donated alot to Michigan? Does that make your opinion more valued? We welcome debates and opinions, but there is absolutely no need to bring up a person's socioeconomic and//or politicial situation into debates about Michigan football. If you don't feel the need to abide by common internet message board rules, please stop posting.
Brian, please ban this guy.
If Brian bans him who the fuck am I going to make fun of for the rest of the week?
Brian: Yes, please ban me. That would show that its ok to call someone a douchebag or child molestor here, while anyone who expresses criticism of Michigan or offers their own opinion (whether expert or not) should be banned. Excellent suggestion. That'll show me.
I love that you edited your post where you called someone a douchebag yourself. You must be a great lawyer. And that's really a step up from calling people disagreeing (well, no one is actually agreeing so that should also tell you something) with you "dweebs", "get your pocket protector Myron", "engineering grads"(lolwhat?), "masturbating nerds" etc. You're just so mature, can I subscribe to your newsletter?
Instead of subscribing to the newsletter, donate at www.nmss.org. That way I know at least you're willing to do something positive in life.
Do I get a newsletter if I do? I find your ideas so intriguing.
Because my brother-in-law has MS. That doesn't make me any better of a person than someone who doesn't, and it certainly doesn't make me any smarter about football than anyone else. However, I'm not dumb enough to start pointless flamewars and toss around ad hominem attacks under my real name. Smooth move, lawya. At this point, the only way to win is to stop playing.
Thank you for donating. It is a very good thing to do. I don't think I'm a better or worse person for doing it. I simply think it is a better way to spend one's energy, time and money than to launch attacks on people who post on blogs.
Second, I didn't initiate the ad hominem attacks. I am guilty of responding in kind and should have refrained, so for that I apologize and regret it. But I'm not afraid to identify who I am. I don't feel the need to hide. And, frankly, I don't appreciate being attacked or falsely accused of things or being called irrational simply because people disagree with me.
I'm a fan of Michigan and I'm entitled to my opinion. No one has to agree with me, and that's perfectly fine. But my opinion doesn't require statistical support and shouldn't solicit meanness.
If that's wrong, well, maybe you're right, I should signoff.
As for initiating the ad hominem attacks, the first post in response to yours:
"I'm a recent alum, and am part of the alumni association. i don't agree
with you on any of that. that was one of the most irrationale and
illogical posts i've ever read here. and you're '84 grad? that's
Your well thought out, reasoned, NOT AD HOMINEM response?
"Hey Turbo Cool, Maybe when you grow up, you'll understand. "
As for "I'm a fan of Michigan and I'm entitled to my opinion." Guess what? Not only am I also a fan of Michigan (which means nothing btw in terms of opinions) but I'm entitled to call your opinion the stupidest fucking thing I've ever read.
I just finished www.rtbrelay.com. I'll also send you copies of my red cross donations and tutoring/youth soccer coaching recognition letters if you want.
All the good deads in the world, however (and I do support your dedication to fighting MS and hope for the best for your wife and children), do not excuse being a giant fucking idiot and having no critical thinking capacity. Nor does it excuse being a pretentious douchebag and using that as the reason we should respect your post. Now repeat after me:
Respect is not given, respect is earned.
Using pretentious, unrelated accomplishments does not lend credence to your posts, rather it detracts from it.
You are not entitled to anything from Michigan football, it does not exist to please you.
You only get one chance to make a first impression, and yours was worse than nearly anything I've ever seen.
You forgot the apostrophe in the word "it's."
"That would show that its ok to call someone a douchebag or child molestor here"
Hi! Welcome to the Internet! Enjoy your stay!
Shut UP. YOU SUCK
I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!
I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!
I'm just throwing this out there, but it's fastest, not fastestt...
biggest disapointment in the Big Ten this year. The difference between Michigan and OSU is that Coach Carr knew when he had nothing more to offer as a coach.. Sweater boy still has the Columbus folks thinking that they have a great football program. The fact that OSU can't beat anyone when they have a national audience must be more than disturbing. So while getting Michigan's Football Program back on track maybe painful at this time, atleast Michigan is willing to make the sacrifice to get better. OSU is most over rated and hyped program in the country. As a Michigan Fan, I knew this year and next year would be tough, sad thing about OSU Fans is that they actually thought they had a national contender-what a joke! or should I say Choke!
I honestly cannot decide if this is pathetic or amusing...
until you realize that he graduated from our alma matter. Then pathetic and borderline distressing.
Maybe one-two more years Thurston? I think we might be able to see more reveals if we let this play out. There's so many interesting scenarios here at Michigan. As an experiment, which is how I see it, we are learning alot. You sound passionate and very knowledgeable about Football. I think the passion is good no matter what your opinion is Mr. Thurston. And you do raise some good points, points that will eventually decide the fate of Michigan and it's new staff.
He should be able to say what he wants, just like the rest of us, regardless of what kind of mindless tripe that may be. We should just ignore him or make fun of him or do whatever we wish when commenting to his idiodic ramblings as that is our right as well. I would certainly not want him to represent me in the courtroom though. Not very convincing. (And yes, I realize that was not a complete sentence.)
This was a highly entertaining thread.
We had here a guy who thought so highly of himself that he couldn't wait 1 day after signing up on this blog in order to make a fool of himself. He loses repeated arguements, but corrects others spelling and grammar and helps children and old ladies across the street, thus demonstrating his football prowess. Turns out this genious posts under his real name and is an attourney. Whoda thunk it.
But then, while exchanging personal attacks and scolding others as posting anonymously, he threatens a poster with a lawsuit! And the genious lawyer doesn't understand why people post anonymously.
Then finally, he is so proud of his original post that started it all, he deletes it!
Here's the thing I don't get. Let's say we fire Rich Rod; who the hell are we going to hire? Les Miles just signed a massive contract with LSU that's paying him in top 3 of SEC coaches; why would a coach who just won a national championship leave for a team that needs massive rebuilding? The Michigan Man angle should be downplayed; Les won't bolt just to satisfy the old timers. Les Miles will never be Michigan's coach.
Schiano is no good now; hiring Hoke would be a joke considering this has been his only decent season at Ball State and his team is senior laden. Don't expect the same from Ball State next year. Honestly, I can't think of a single coach that we could hire. I would love to hear suggestions from people who think Rich Rod should be fired.
Give Rich Rod some time; this team has way too much inexperience, attrition, and injuries to truly do anything this year. Patience has its rewards.
This is Michigan. Bob Stoops will be our coach the second we fire DickRod. Because, you know, every coach would line up to come to Michigan after we fire a coach 6 games into his first season for not being amazing wtih horrible talent.
Thurston. Now, I know I won't be the first to tell you this...but you TOTALLY look like a child molestor in that photo. You probably slapped the hell out of your secretary the day she sent that picture to the web designer.
And, since I can see there's no serious football discussion to be had here, I guess I'll get things started:
Q: You are stuck in an elevator with a tiger, a lion and a lawyer. You have a gun with just two bullets in it. What do you do?
A: Shoot the lawyer twice to make sure he's dead.
The trolls are in the minority. Case and point: minimal to no booing after we lost to Toledo. TOLEDO! There were the occasional douchebags, like the guys who sit behind me, ("Mcguffie is so awful!" "I don't really see an upside with him. I don't see him getting much better." "Mcguffie is dirty"<--WTF? "He's too small." <---Mike Hart anyone? "He always gets tackled behind the line. He can only run well if they block for him" <---!!!!) but they are all idiots.
On a side note, Boubacar Cissoko; great corner, or greatest corner? He was consistantly lining up against a receiver who looked like he had at least 6 inches and 40 pounds on him and was *GASP* playing press coverage (!!!!!!)and dominating him*. He likes to hit people and aid in run support (I'm looking at you Morgan "Slide Tackle" Trent). On the 4 and 1 he pressed the much larger receiver, didn't let him get off the line and after he made the catch wrapped him up and brought him down solo short of the first down giving us a shot to drive down the field and win the game.
I already love this kid because I am sick of seeing Morgan Trent with his 4.3 speed playing 7 yards off the line and immediately backpedaling after the snap, essentially giving opposing teams the hitch, (I mean seriously, how many times did Toledo get us on those 5-7 yard hitch and comeback patterns) which in turn forces Trent to rely on his ability to make tackles after the catch.
I know he might not trust the safety help but Trent really only gets beat when he is in zone coverage, he is at his best man to man. We have the horses at corner to line up man to man on every down, and we just can't trust the linebackers and safetys when everyone is in zone (as proven by the play on the field) so maybe we should drop the zone for the corners, have them line up man to man on every down and save the zone looks for safetys and linebackers only.
Hopefully DWar isn't too banged up because a nickel formation with Boo Boo, Trent, and DWar would be amazing, and might eliminate some of the problems we've been having with slot receivers. How many times has combination Stevie Brown/John Thompson allowed slot receivers to run absolutely wild on our D (EX: 1. Arrelious Benn every time he was in the slot was wide open. 2. Crazy dred dude on Miami. 10 catches. 3. #1 on TOLEDO! seriously that dude had 20 catches! 20!). 4. Slot receiver for Utah had 7 catches.) The slot guy always seems to be the one who makes those big catches on first and 3rd down that either move the chains or put them in 2nd and 3rd and manageable.
*Except on one run play where said receiver exploded Boo Boo sending him flying 5 yards through the air.
Give him time and he'll be a good coach. Making judgements on his coaching ability based on this year is irrational. He has not been able to fully impliment the offense that has made him a top tier coach, and is working with an incredibly young team. Have some god damn patience.
How many teams honestly have good offenses when you graduate the schools leading passer, rusher, and a 1st overall DC LT?
then your going to have to be patience. My advice...get into a wayback machine or put on your Kansas Dorthy red shoes and click your heel and repeat this line....I can't wait three years! I can't three years...
