... we should win. Ineffective QB play, INT's and overthrows killed us.
...is a 4 or 5 loss QB and since Shane is so bad he can't get a snap and Kalis is the most over rated recruit of all time, it'll be a couple years before UofM sees double digit wins.

71 yards rushing tonight. Smith runs like a grandma. Still, they cut out a couple of the turnovers and this may have been a win.
Well that was a seemingly more composed looking shitfest than last year. Cocahing matters.
But yet again a game that's won with even mediocre QB play.
Alright I was chicken littling it, but it's the first game. We'll be set.

The one thing you can definitively take out of this game: If you are an aspiring NFL TE, you should go to Florida State.

Good intro into the Harbaugh era. /s
Smith runs hard. He would be a beast of a FB in the mold of Chris Floyd.

Keep looking on, I guess. What really bothers me is that Rudock kept missing Chesson for TDs.
Definitely a big bummer for me. Two missed TD passes is a big blow. That was the game.
Really encouraging game. Michigan just had a couple to many turn overs, and a few to many missed opportunities. Utah didn't win the game, Michigan gave it up.
So that happened
So it did.
Game should have been ours...
This game was a shit show for Michigan. It's the same recipe we've seen the past few years. No run game, turnover prone QB, overworked defense and a general inability to put it together on the road. Hopefully JH does what RichRod and Hoke couldn't and find a way to fix this unholy mess with available players or else we are in for a long 4 years. At least Peppers looked good.
That wasn't anywhere near the team we've had. Did you see the game against Uconn?
Did we have all of our players on the field for special teams?
Not even close how much better we are.
But Harbaugh will improve the team. I still think 8 or 9, if we can beat MSU or OSU at home?
Truth of the matter, the run game killed us. More to the point, Smith deciding to run into piles instead of the outside lanes created killed us. Rudock's 3 ints sucked but, outside of a few spurts in the 2nd half, Smith did nothing but kill drives.

I dunno, I think without at least a couple of the INTs we'd probably have had more points on the board, and while yeah the run game could've been better, I think we could've gotten away with a win despite the run game. I say we just try Morris for a game and see what happens.
Smith is just to damn slow, I think he's the slowest tb I have seen. The kid runs hard, where the hell was Kalis going to block on the 4th down play?
Just won't win quality games like this with a QB missing TDs and pitching INTs.
OL didn't show much. Smith just isn't a factor; need Isaac's speed to create something with this OL and QB.
Hopefully the old football adage is true: a a fab team improves more between the 1st and 2nd game than anytime in a season.
Butt is awesome. We missed Drake Johnson. WRs better than anticipated. Peppers was not good early. Defense overall is pretty good. Pass protection was good run blocking was mediocre. QB play must improve.
Peppers was tentative early then remembered he was the most talented player on the field and dominated.
Was a beast in the second half. Dude is basically a freshman. If he stays healthy odds are he is going to be an All American. Going to have to figure out what to do with those shifty little types though Covey looked good.
Run blocking was far below average for 3 quarters... Average for 1

The negative posters....all is lost garbage.....fair weather fans is just sad. Get a fucking grip. It's one fucking game against a talented well coached team. If you guys expected the team to just have to show up and they will just roll because Harbaugh, I don't even know what to tell you. Take a fucking breath, step away from the edge and look at the positives for fucks sake.
It has nothing to do with being a fair weather fan. The fair weather fans are long gone after the last 8 years.
You are way off base. I personally thought it was disappointing and by no means am I a fair weather fan. I can't believe you are not disappointed when you see a game with horrible blocking, 3 picks, and no run game. We set the water line for where the team is at currently and that is pretty low, I'm still going to watch every game but I'm less optimistic about matchups such as BYU, Maryland, Minnesota, and Penn St.
Quick takeaway...the outside CB's played well today. Ross needs to stay on the field and Peppers rebounded nicely after a subpar 1st half

Let's be honest - we were all hoping for a Harbaugh unicorn but got reality. I thought the game plan was good- rudock struggled a bit, but am encouraged for the future. Bonus - Harbaugh has 9 not 7 days to fix issues for the next. go BLUE!!

.... but did it look like football?
It looked like football. That's the first game I can remember in a long time where we looked significantly better in the second half than the first. Our o-line even started really bashing Utah but our RB's just don't have Vision yet.
Oh and Rudock was pretty dreadful. Either dead on or pull your hair out inaccurate. Hopefully he can calm down and just be steady ASAP.
Well, tough to take a loss when you want great start to the season. But I think they showed a lot of good stuff to build on. My one concern, I know that some people think Hoke ruined Morris, but he was a highly rated recruit. I really think he can be a difference maker here, and honestly I think we should switch it up after that Rudock performance. I don't mean to pin all blame on him or not, I just really think some of those mistakes were forced in a way that results from being injected (transferred) into the team and the system with no warning. I mean, we have time to rebuild, we've got room to experiment, so I say why not. Anyway, looking forward to the improvements!
Lots of good signs? Those glasses must be expensive.

I am pretty disappointed with what I saw from the O-line. They weren’t really helped out by the RBs. They need Drake Johnson ASAP. Smith lacks foot speed and vision, Isaac isn’t a good pass blocker, and Green is a FB or an H-Back. Rudock needs to work on his accuracy. He missed a few that would have been huge and he threw that killer interception. On a positive note, the WRs and TEs were good. I like what they have there.
Peppers had a very good game. The pass defense needs to improve. They also need to be more consistent. Michigan would fall asleep once the game was tied. They cannot do this. It puts too much pressure on an average offense.
Bottom line, it was only one game. Even with the sloppy play, they played a competitive game against a good team on the road. I expected this to be a loss, and now I expect them to win up to the Michigan State game.
On the surface it looked a lot like every road game for the past few years: crap on offense, good on defense, frustrating level of mistakes. The encouraging thing is that unlike the past 3 years, none of the mistakes were coaching mistakes! We had the right number of players on the field, we called the right plays at the right time and we managed the clock about as well as we could.

some posters are really freaking out from the first JH coached game....on the road....against a solid Utah team. They were 9-4 last year and have depth and experience.
I thought JH game plan was great...in the fact he had a game plan and stuck with it. That looked like a Stanford offense, boring but took a few shots. A lot of mistakes that are fixable, Ruddock and Perry were sttuggling to get on the same page. I mean there were two deep balls , if just a little more loft on them, 1 is a TD and the other is a 30 yard gain. Be patient everyone, yes we are all pissed and sick of losing, but I think we can all see the progress and where this is going.
I like our D, again clean up those fixable mistakes, and we are very good. BUT that other CB spot is looking rough. Clark looked like he was nervrous or tentaitve, stibbling was just getting pushed around out there, everytime i saw him, the Utah guy was just picking on him.
I know it was a loss, but there felt like there was a different level of skill. There were mistakes but they didn't look like the kinds of mistakes where a qb tries to throw an inadvisable pass while being dragged to the ground. There were fewer face palm moments by a lot. Correct number of players, understanding of plays and intensity were all positives. There were things to fix but they seem like fixable things. The O line still has a lot of work to do, along with the RBs, but that can also be fixed.
