...tebow bypasses the draft.
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
...tebow bypasses the draft.
etc etc etc
this matters because...?
To the cock and ball worship that Tebow gets from the media.
It means he won't get drafted by the Lions.
Why would he declare this year?
i thought it was sweet how he made the decision like that
Florida is a pretty big school, if he can manage to spend at least 15 minutes with every student they will probably become the best school on the planet.
Actually, it takes 20 minutes for Tebow to change your life forever, at least according to Thom Brennamen.
15 minutes with Tebow only results in a slight euphoria followed by an intense craving for chocolate covered pickles. Trust me on this...
Approximately 50,000 students attend U of F.
50,000 x 20 minutes = 1 million minutes.
1 million minutes / 60 mins = 16,666.67 hours
16,667.67 hours / 24 hours = 694.44 days
694.44 days / 365 days = 1.9 years.
So, it would take him about 2 years to bless the entire student body with his time. Now, that's assuming he can spend 24 hours a day meeting students, which he can't. You'd have to assume that he can AT THE MOST only spend 12 hours a day bestowing his time to his fellow students, so it's actually closer to 4 years to accomplish this. Therefore, that's the reason he is returning. It's all very simple.
I expect U of F to be ranked right at the top of the list of the top Universities next year.
Could Tebow meet with students 10 at a time and hold a group discussion with them? Something for Florida to look into.
well now, you're really onto something there. You should contact the U of F president post haste. This could really save Saint Tebow some trouble.
tyhe in coming and out going students in that time frame? No Tebow time for them?
I thought "the chosen one" declared a while back he was going to stay all four years and get a degree. Isn't that part of what instantly made him college football's poster boy?
Now they get to play the unselfish angle and continue fellating him for getting his degree. ANOTHER fucking year of this shit. I'm pissed. I can't wait till he goes to the NFL and flames out and/or gets lit up. Preferably by a former wolverine LB.
But seriously? Complain about the announcers who constantly blather about him, but don't say stuff like this. He seems like an athlete who's actually a good person. We should be applauding that.
He is a product, packaged by the media. Thus, he acts accordingly. It was clear early on that he was the chosen one. Do you REALLY think he didn't look to the beneficial media exposure before doing the things he does? Because giving up his spring break or whatever to play with lepers is small price to pay to become the most fellated person in cfb. Put it this way--do you think he would have done the things he has done if no one were to ever find out about them? I'm skeptical.
So, I stick to the plan--hope for him to flame out in the NFL as the overhyped douche that he is.
and you may be right, but I just don't think he does mission work with his family over spring break just so Fox will make a shitty halftime special about him. I think he was doing this stuff before he got to Florida, and I think he's a nice guy. I'm sure he's not the perfect angel the media makes him out to be, but I don't think he's narcissistic enough to go to all this work just so he can be a media darling.
but of course this is all conjecture because we can't know for sure. I think he's mostly phony and definitely getting coaching on how to game the media. I'm mostly sick of the fellating though-it infects the minds of most people brainwashed by ESPN. Look around our site here and you will see similar Tebow fellating. Gross.
you're really a piece of shit if you believe that. people like you make this world fucked up.
and realize that people are motivated by things like money, fame, and power. This will be a fairly shocking revelation to you.
according to your rationale, he would have opted for the draft. No one gives a fuck about "college fame" in a few years.
the guy wants to get his degree, maybe win another NC, and you have to tear him apart?
props to you.
objective when you are looking through Blue and Orange colored glasses. 1 year of earning power when people are questioning his ability at the next level is nothing. People are calling him "the greatest of all time." He is building up his legend status. It will help him go higher in the draft and will probably lead to some endorsements.
Let's see - more fellating in the media and superstar status or sit through a draft, go in the 3rd or 4th and have everyone question whether you have the skills?
Not as easy as you make it.
you're assuming he is a big narcisstic crybaby, which I don't really see. And for whatever reason, I think your psychoanalysis of his motives are pretty inaccurate.
freak out on you for having that opinion. You joined this website yesterday and have come in here like a nutcase.
If Tebow brings out the softbatch in you, that's fine. Join in the mounting chorus. I dissent.
I'm a 3rd year law student here, what can I say.
I'm a UM law student too.
Awwww you two are cute.
"make the world fucked up."
Needs a real pitbull mentality. Defends trivial positions vehemently, and at all costs. Seen any around?
I don't do DUI.
The hero worship is a little creepy, though. A lot of people seem seriously upset that I don't like Tebow and question his motives. Pretty strange.
You can insult me, my family, my values, etc. I could care less. It's a blog. But the way people are defending this third party that they don't even know...odd.
So when Tebow and his family were doing these things before Tebow was famous, what was their motivation then? His brothers go with him on a lot of these trips, but they don't get recognition. Why would they do it?
People are certainly motivated by the things you mentioned. But you can't possibly think that your list is exhaustive. I don't want to judge you, but that is a piece of shit comment to make, saying that Tebow spends his college spring break ministering to and helping people in Singapore because the exposure will make him more marketable.
GENTLEMAN AND A SCHOLAR.
I think he has good intentions and is a great competitor. That's basically it.
OMG Shirtless! (No Homo.)
The kid was born in the Philippines apparently so... at least he's technically not eligible to be president one day!
of my heart.
He's eligible. Johnny McCain was born in Panama and someone unsuccesfully sued to get him DQ'ed from the race.
I thought that was because his parents were in Panama on official U.S. business. I want to say his dad was stationed there in the navy.
/in no way sure of what I just typed.
Not really. You don't have to love him, or even respect him. I fairly ambivalent, but I think it's stupid that people hate Tebow, not because of things he did, but because the media loves him so much. Shouldn't it be the media that you hate, not him?
I don't give a shit what you think of Tim Tebow. But saying that his motivations for helping people could be nothing other than fame is just sad. It makes me glad I'm not relying on you for anything.
You criticize me for imputing motives to Tebow then turn around and do the exact same thing to me. Priceless.
And suggesting that a person's motives are less than 100% pure for any given action rises to the level of "piece of shit?" Haha.
Yeah, when a lot of college football players bask in the fame, Tebow is doing the same good things him and his family did before anyone knew his name.
I don't care about the Tebow bashing, most of it makes me laugh. But to make that kind of an assertion that Tebow volunteers his time in order to get more recognition is a shitty comment. Even if you aren't, some people are altruistic. If you disagree, you're just being cynical.
the government's ability to make people's lives better.
OMG YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!
Not really. It's just an opinion. You can have yours and I can have mine. Freaking out and name-calling because of it is pretty stupid, though.
Keep in mind that I specifically pointed out that I was not calling you a piece of shit, but rather your comment. Good people can say dumb shit.
"I'm not calling you a bitch, I said you were acting like a bitch" defense. Don't try it on your wife.
"Put it this way--do you think he would have done the things he has done if no one were to ever find out about them? I'm skeptical."
Maybe. Probably. How many students do that and don't get the attention? All the rest that go on Alternate Spring Break. You think they do it for some inflated sense of ego? I'm annoyed by the Tebow man love as much as anyone, but attack the media, not the kid. He hasn't done anything to warrant that.
fourth round draft choice, with 50 cameras in your face looking for a reaction each and every time you get bypassed....or, another year of hero worship....a no brainer.
this kid needs a shot and a piece of ass.
The scouts think Tebow needs to work on his speed...
... at circumcising penises.
Thom Brennaman just swallowed another load.
Could Tim Tebow blow a load so big that Thom Brennaman himself could not swallow it?
sensing a Chuck Norris like vibe with this media man love for Tebow?
"Tebow didn't declare for the draft, Tebow declared he didn't want the draft"
"Tebow can cure syphilis with his toe secretions"
I figured you losers would be talking about The Timster.
Face it, everyone is.
In case any of you virgins were wondering, I was wearing a shirt, but this skank next to me was begging for a peek at the Tebow Torpedoes. Now I'm tripping over all this gatortail. It's tough being Timmy.
Well, The Timster's got to run. I hope you beatoff artists have fun putting your snowballs in the faces of acne plagued dudes. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying a hot tub and an even hotter whore.
P.S. God Bless.
Timothy, you are my idol, but can you please explain this? I mean I've seen that kinda stuff during Spanish Premier league games, but not in college football, and certainly not in God's country!
In my defense, I tried to turn the other cheek.
I believe you, I dunno why yo, but I just do.
How did you live with that? Do you have to deny him three times before the cock crows? Take care Timothy!
it's funny how you fuckers on this blog love to rant against tebow. what the fuck is your problem? Why don't you stop talking shit and go swallow all the loads you've been talking about yourselves.
I think you have to admit that the media circus over Tebow is pretty annoying, that's the reason it's discussed so much.
I for one think he's awesome. I love the way he plays and I love even more his passion and leadership on the field.
It's just too bad that the blowhard media types have beaten this horse to death, that's all.
yeah I know what you mean. but why should you personally be pissed about the fucking media? The media does that all the time. Just look at President elect Obama these last few months. You don't have keep razzing Tebow. The kid is a greatcompetitor, and is 20 or something like that, let him do his thing.
I didn't say I'm personally pissed about it. Getting angry about that sort of thing is useless. I just said it's annoying, that's all. Most people that watched the BCS game were disgusted at the Tebow love that was on display, and again, this has nothing to do with him personally, just the hype. You just need to realize that most of the commenters on this site just like joking around and making each other laugh. 90% of us post on here everyday so we joke around. The Tebow thing is topically and good for easy laughs.
Now, wishing harm upon him is another story and it is regrettable if anyone really feels this way. Life's too short to hate someone you don't even know.
Obama's approval rating.
You want to put the Tebow media-slobbing in perspective by comparing it to the coverage devoted to the next president of the United States?
A lot of people might not have thought of that.
I despise him with the burning passion of 1000 suns.
What manner of troll are you? UF troll on a Michigan blog?
Not a troll, just don't understand this "FUCK TEBOW" because of the media. I mean, come on.
You're right... it's not necessarily his fault. That being said, he's merely a very good college football player, surrounded by extraordinary talent with a coach that uses an offense that fits his unique skill set.
There are better running qb's (Pat White, etc.), better throwing qb's (take your pick from a long list), and better duel threat qb's (McCoy, LeFevour, etc.). He's not even the most important player on his team, that would be Harvin. The media doesn't seem to recognize any of this. If he runs for 5 yards and falls forward for an extra yard after a DB chops him down, it's "Wow! Look at him run with power!" If he fires a bullet to his wide-open tight end in the SECCG, and the TE makes an amazing leaping catch, it's "Wow, did you see the arm on that guy!" Whenever he makes an average play, he's amazing. Whenever his teammates make great plays, he gets the credit. He gets 50 TDs in a season because of short yardage runs, screen passes, etc. He's not forced to sit in the pocket and make difficult throws. When he does, you get Thursday's first half, or last year's bowl game. You might not think it's fair that I dislike the guy for the media making him out to be more than he is, but I think he'll take the trade off.
As for everything else, he's as arrogant as the next great player. He taunts, he celebrates, etc. He's only called a great leader because he's open about it and announcers are looking for something to praise. He may do some admirable charity work, but there are plenty of people that think the proselytizing aspect of such christian missionary work is offensive.
In sum: There are plenty of reasons not to like the guy, admittedly, much of which isn't his fault. If you're going to like the guy without knowing him and based purely on media representation, then you must allow others to dislike him based on the same representation.
We have a winner. Many here think he is beyond reproach. It is pretty sickening.
I'm not going to address anything about his personality - even if he's doing good things for selfish reasons, he's still doing them, which makes him better than most of us (myself included).
But on your football point - while I agree that there are better passers and better runners, I disagree that he's merely a product of his environment, and not the most important player on his team. He won the Heisman on a 4 loss team, and led the nation in passer efficency and yards per pass attempt. By all measures, a 4-loss team wouldn't have vastly superior talent to others.
Second, I disagree that Harvin is the most important player on that offense. Don't get me wrong - I think Harvin is the most exciting player in college FB, but they won that Alabama game going away without Harvin stepping on the field. Do you think that they're nearly as successful without Tebow? Virtually everything they do runs through him. I think Harvin is a better RB/WR than Tebow is a QB, but I think that offense depends on his array of skills more than it depends on Harvin's.
fair point... I probably misstated. Harvin's not the most important, I just think he's the guy you prepare most for. He's the guy you're scared about taking it to the house on every play. The QB is the position that makes all spread options go, so you obviously have to pay attention to Tebow, but Harvin and the others are the real threats.
He won the heisman on a 4 loss team which had a great offense and a fairly terrible defense, I fail to see how this disproves that he's surrounded by great talent.
One last question, how do you know that Florida's backup QB could not step in and run Meyer's system very effectively?
I obviously don't categorically know the backup wouldn't be successful.
I will say that Tebow, as measured by passing efficiency, is the 2nd best passer in NCAA history (to Sam Bradford), and I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking the backup isn't a linebacker-sized mobile QB with the ability to throw as well.
but if you try to tackle him he might steal your laptop and beat you over the head with it
Pryor leads the big 10 in passing efficiency, and I think we're all in agreement that he's not a great passer. In the age of spread passing teams, with swing passes, jailbreak screens, shovel passes on the triple option, etc., the passing efficiency statistic may be the most overrated statistic in college football.
Cam Newton in 6-6, 240. John Brantley is 6-3, 215. They were the number 2 and 3 ranked QB prospects, respectively in 2007. I think one of them could keep the Florida machine rolling.
You must have missed the thread where I said Pryor had a good season.
How is passing efficiency bad? It rolls completion %, picks, yards per completion, and TD's into one number.
Passing efficiency isn't bad, the statistic is just outdated. The formulation dates back to the 70's when football was very run and vertical passing route heavy. A swing pass to a RB/WR who breaks a tackle and goes for an 80 yard touchdown is huge for the QB's passing efficiency number but the play doesn't really tell us all that much about the QB's ability. Today so many coaches, especially spread offensive coaches, rely on short swing passes, shovel passes, and screen passes to get athletes in space that the QB's passing efficiency number gets bloated. It's not surprising that the career leaders in passing efficiency hail from the last few years when the idea of a "long handoff" has really taken hold.
The only reason I brought up Pryor was because you used passer efficiency numbers to show how great Tebow is. I was using Pryor's Big10 leading number to show how misleading that statistic could be.
When Thom dies of asphyxiaton from a semen gastic overflow to his right mainstem bronchus, Timmy is heading to Gaza. Thom dies, but the Middle East lives in peace!! Thank God for Tebow. Oops, it's thank Tebow for God!!! My bad!
That I couldn't have kids. A month later I ran into Tim Tebow while on vacation in Florida and shortly thereafter my wife got pregnant. It was a miracle and there is no explanation other than the penis, I mean hand, of Tim the Saint touched my wife.
Too much Tebow.
I think I found a picture of Promote RichRod:
And seriously, if Tebow had picked Michigan and was getting the attention he was getting while donning the Maize and Blue, not a soul here would object. It's pure jealous. Stop sippin' the haterade and move on, get a life, etc.
what you think it means. To say a person could be motivated by money and fame as much as or more than selfless generosity is not exactly a radical statement. Add in the hero worship that exists, of all places, in a Michigan blog that has its share of intelligent discourse...and you get "hate."
As to jealousy, that's pretty stupid. You'll notice I haven't bashed his skills much, aside from saying he won't pan out at the next level (he won't). He is obviously a great college player. My dislike for him comes from other sources, some of which are not his fault and some that are. The holier than thou crap has got to go, and I say this as a member of the same/similar religion as Tebow (not sure what denomination he is, nor do I care). I've never been a fan of those that push their beliefs on others. Religion is a private matter.
Anyway, I've spent far too much time discussing Tim Tebow. I think I will never talk about him again. Starting...
I can't believe I got this far into the thread until I saw someone question the nature of Tim's missionary work and religious boosterism. I felt like I was taking crazy pills.
No Tebow hatred here. Media hatred. There may be some hating on Tim, but I think the majority of the posts are due to the ungodly high pedestal the national media has placed him. Read the quotes, it's amazing! Tebow is a great player, on a great team and apparently a good person. His annointment as the second coming, however, maybe premature.
And Thom Brennaman is still blowing him. It was on Rivals, so it must be true!
and that's the bottom line.
if i donate 6 of my 20 billion dollars (i went to um, see, so i am extremely wealthy and powerful now...where's my cigar...) to charity, but i only do it to become more famous, does the money not help anyone?
if i spend a week doing volunteer work, and as a famous internet celebrity i brighten the lives of those who i work with, but my underlying motivation is my own self-gain, does the work not count?
Yeah - the starving child you just fed probably is really pissed off that it helped you win a Heisman.
I just want to know if he is virgin or not. With his ledgendary status on campus there has to be girls throwing themselves at him. Imagine how high the pot is for the first sorority chick to take his v-card. Virgin or not, what does everyone think?
This is the greatest post, ever.
