Unverified Voracity Is Dedicated In 1927 Comment Count

UFR coming around 5:00 or 5:30.

More talking. There was a brief MGoAppearance on CFB Weekly this week in which the Wisconsin game and other sundry matters were discussed.

That is a hell of a weekend. Johnny from RBUAS came into town, bought Mike Hart jagerbombs, had breakfast with Lloyd Carr, and then watched the Wisconsin game. Epic win. He writes about it in the usual way.

Internet = awesome. Some guy on the youtubes uploaded video his grandfather took of Michigan Stadium's dedication:

Press box is a little bigger, and there are fewer farm animals on the sideline.

Slightly creepy noting of things. In Tuesday Recruitin' wondered what former Lake Region linebacker John Lewis' deal was, as his myspace page has him decked out in Michigan gear and declaring he's going where his "bro" goes. A reader helps out: Lewis means "bro" literally here, as he's FL S Marvin Robinson's half-brother. Robinson's mother has previously declared an intent to move wherever Marvin goes, so it makes sense that her other son would join her. I assume he'll be a preferred walk-on.

Also, if you're interested five-star MD LB Jelani Jenkins will be on ESPN2 tonight at 6:30. It'll be less interesting than watching the Beav play, but if you're lonely or whatever, there you go.

Etc.: FYI, the Depth Chart By Class is updated; Tennessee booers are making recruits uncertain.

But, the link to SI.com is the perfect example of why the "MSM" is despised by many.

The title "Vocal fans not helping Tenessee recruiting efforts with boos" is completely contradicted by the recruits statement "the boos had no influence on his decision" which is stated in the article!!!!

Then "If the booing had any effect on Nunes -- and, just to be clear, he is adamant it didn't...." and the writer then tells us why the boos did have an effect on Nunes.

Yup, that's journalistic integrity - write a headline that your own article refutes. Write your own conclusions about what someone else's motives are even when that person has stated the opposite.

The cage that rolls by at 1:42 contains 2 live wolverines.

I think the "popcorn" is actually Michigan students--the seats are right in front of the pressbox--throwing their hats (or something; can't tell what) in the air after a Michigan touchdown.  Note that they are about to kick what I assume is a PAT when the "popcorn" is happening.

you mentioned that his half bro was something Lewis.  Well what about Marcus Robinson? I'd naturally assume that's his brother since they go to the same school and have the same last name, right?

I love that old school football footage. The giant drum was pretty sweet and seeing the film of the famed live wolverines Bennie and Biff was truly amazing. Thanks to whomever loaded that clip up and thanks to Brian for putting on here.

Since everyone feels accuracy in reporting is so important, the Navy game in 1927 was not dedication day,

Dedication day was of course the Ohio State game earlier in October.  UM was returning the favor OSU gave them, since UM played at OSU's stadium dedication previously. UM won both games, in fact both were shutouts - Go D!

I have no evidence against the comment theories on the "popcorn", but I can't believe visitors or students were on the 50 yard line in front of the press box.  I know, I know, today that section contains the most boring fans in the stadium, but that's probably because they all attended the Navy game in 1927 and can't find their hats.

Bentley Library online is a great resource, I've always loved the story on the wolverine mascots, Yost is THE "Michigan Man".  Although he was copying the Wisconsin live badger, it's impressive that he finally obtained 10 of them and stored them at the Detroit Zoo.
