Uniformz Doom At Hand?
That looks official what with its number and the Adidas logo and looking all like a thing that exists in the world. You still can't buy one (it errors out when you click on the monstrosity) but I think it's official enough to say that Michigan is going to look very, very stupid when they take the field against Notre Dame.
(new scoreboards new scoreboards new scoreboards not a cesspool of filth and corruption so deep Sepp Blatter is impressed deep breaths)
If that is the jersey somepne made a huge error. Won't see me in that. More beer money!
There has to be something we can do to prevent this
Dave Brandon and asked him not to ruin an historic night by sending our boys out in these things. Like that will matter, but I did what I could.
DB's strategy is brilliant.
Make the team so embarrased to be on the field that they have to win, just to save face.
If I squint, I think I see some stripes on the sleeves. Via @michigan_fball
I don't know about the jersey but the gloves definitely aren't helping...
Yup, definitely sleeve stripes. Notice the new gloves, too. I guess DB is trying to get as much merchandise out of this as possible.
Is it me, or is there something different about the helmet? The helmet itself looks shorter in the back. The "wings" decal looks a bit raised.
Then again, maybe I'm seeing things that are not there.
But I kind of like it.
But I kind of like it.
Two more votes for it.
It's who counts the votes.
Well done sir. I hope it does look like that. With gray facemasks and numbers on the helmet I am excited by this for only one game.
... Great job mocking this up. Looks fantastic.
2) It looks like something you wear when you're going running at night
Hey, while we're at it, why not get the band throwback uniforms? Screw cost and practicality!
the crap OSU and Oregon have been wearing. OSU should have our problems :).
I don't really care for it but they will still have the best helmets in the country to balance it out.
PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE NOOOOOOO! I'm sorry these jerseys just look horrible! If they turned out this bad....USE THE NORMAL JERSEYS!
I blame Rich Rod.
These look bad in the stand-alone image, but they might - might - look okay on, with pads underneath. I actually like the M and the small number a lot. It's the stripes that will make or break it.
I'm not going to pass judgement until I can see them on an actual football player. I have always disliked the sleeves that apparently MUST reach the consumers elbow on jerseys for public purchase, I think they will look better on the players.
Will we be wearing baggy pants and Clown noses with them?
You know, to complete the look.
Per a source inside the university this is not the design they will be using. It was thought of as a design but it will NOT be the ones we will be wearing.
If not my beloved wolverines are going to look like maize & blue Ronald McDonalds.
Looks like Bo's pajamas.
I don't understand why this is a big deal. These are fine.
actually might look pretty cool.
I don't mind the jersey but I wish we'd go back to Nike. Adidas is so lame.
If you send Brandon a check to make up for the difference between the Adidas and Nike contracts, I'm sure he'd consider it.
I think they were going for the "Harmon of Michigan" look, but replaced the solid yellow on the shoulders and sleeves with stripes. See this link for posters from the movie:
If Adidas is going to fake an old uniform, why did they not fake a great looking cool uniform.
I don't like the longer stripe sleeves on this uniform. If they kept the shoulder stripe with shorter blue sleeves it would look good!
Please loose the stripes. Just a block M like some of the old Yost era jerseys would be OK.
Obviously our opponents won't be able to discern one player from another, all they'll see is a mass of maize and blue stripes :)
I actually kind of like them, FWIW.
michigan football's facebook page gave a sneak peek of part of it - and it matches the part of the M on the chest that we have here
i think they're okay
You beat me to it... My heart sank when I saw the 'Cris-Cross' Block M...
I hope the stripes are atleast not there as in the original image at the top...
Via MVictors, the team captain is wearing a striped jersey. These were common in the era. I'd like to see some game photos, but Michigan likely wore them for some of the (away?) games. So the Adidas creation is a combination of that and the classic M jersey.
I think the "stitching" design on the M is a reference to the stitched padding on the shoulders of some of the jerseys of that era, as seen second from the right in the full 1899 photo:
