Tractor Traylor Got Thin And Short
So I'm watching some of season two of The Wire last night and Herc is doing "hand to hands," wherein he buys a bunch of drugs and a couple other cops take pictures from afar. There's a montage of various buys, and one of the kids who runs up to deliver the goods is, well, he's this guy:
I have that same baseball jersey from Steve & Barry's. That is all.

This is the exact screenshot I took about a month ago while watching The Wire. I told all my friends. Sure you didn't steal this from my Facebook, BRIAN?! HUH?!

God Herc and his toothpick were awesome that season.
Also, Fuzzy Dunlop. Just because.

Just finishing up Season 1. I had always been told it was great, but can't believe I didn't start watching it sooner.

Little Eastside hoppers love Blue.
I think that, given how this year has been, if the hoops team doesn't make the NIT, the frontpage MGoQuote needs to be changed to a line from the Bunk and Omar conversation from Season 3 (one of the best scenes in the series):
"Makes me sick, motherf*cker, how far we done fell."

Best TV show of the oughts by a wide margin.

Get LOST.
Arrested Development was the best.

Shame on you, Jonny_GoBlue. Shame on you. You take that back. I guess it depends on your definition of "best," but. . . aww hell- just take it back. Do not blaspheme "The Wire" on these here interwebs. You go preach that "Arrested Development" stuff on some other e-blog.

An arbitrary classification based on personal preference.
Example:
"OMG Avatar is the best movie I've ever seen!"

True, sir. That's why I just resorted to childish "you take that back!" I guess for me what makes it "best" is a combination of the following: Thought-provoking, entertaining, dynamic and round characters, realistic (I think), and deep. But I agree- "best" is subjective, based on one's own criteria for judging a show, and one's rating of each show in each category that make up the "criteria."

Actually, I think you have pretty good reasons to consider it one of the best series. I've never seen it, but I've heard good things from enough people that I keep meaning to watch it, but...well, I always get distracted by reruns of Knight Rider, Emergency!, Magnum P.I., Rockford Files and I Spy. Honestly, who was foolish enough to give me access to the Retro TV network?
Also: I'm always happy to find an excuse to take a shot at Avatar. The hype drove me crazy.

Tied with Deadwood, imhe, but I've seen nothing that remotely compares to those two. Lots of similarity in quality of writing, acting, character development, deep and thought provoking themes, etc.
Freaks and Geeks is up there, but it was from the 90s, only lasted a season, and was a lot more lighthearted.

My wife and I started watching The Wire through Netflix and finished the whole series in about a month. It's one of the best shows we've ever watched. Hadn't tried Deadwood, but will put it on our list. Thanks for the recommendation.
