Lot of good sutff. Things I already figured. But, just another source for us to " Believe ".
I wanna puke. CHANGE.... wooooooooh. I guess freeing prisoners who killed Americans is good change.
that you actually think Obama has or will free prisoners that have killed people. No one is actually this stupid.
I assume you are talking about Guantanamo. It's not "freeing" a prisoner to give them a lawyer and trial...those are called Constitutional rights.
So Constitutional rights now apply to non-US citizens?
That is the question...
And to take a step back to Promote RR's point, actually an ex detainee (released in '07) is reported to have climbed the ranks of Al Qaeda in Yemen. This obviously wasn't Obama's fault, and likely not Bush's either; these things happen. But it's too simple minded to assume you can easily determine who is and is not a terrorist. If that were the case, Gitmo wouldn't be controversial (IMHO.) If you act like an animal, you get treated like an animal.
Yes--to the extent the US government is detaining the non-citizens and those non-citizens wish to challenge their detention in US civil courts. See Boumediene v. Bush, 553 U. S. ____ (2008) (http://supremecourtus.gov/opinions/07pdf/06-1195.pdf). The case made a few headlines over the summer.
I gave up on this thread. There's no use arguing legal principles to people without training in the area of law. I had someone tell me in another thread that I didn't know what I was talking about since negligence or recklessness can't be the basis (mens rea) for a crime. That's what he was told in his Sports Management class...
Anyway, this thread needs to die. Get out while you still can...
While my initial reaction was WTF because it's a take off on the Obama graphic this is ok with me. On a side note, the graphic artist who created it is just now being sued by the AP for using their picture. Interesting that it's only NOW that they are doing this and not during the election. I think it's obvious why.
Tate is like our Obama but with the stark difference that Tate actually has experience leading and letting his actions talk instead of talking BS on the recruiting trail and lying about who he is.
We know Tate's not an ex druggie or bisexual, that we know of. Tate's not a socialists that has to lie about what he really believes in. He doesn't hang around domestic terrorists or rely on others to do his writing, like Obama did in having to get Bill Ayers to help write his first book.
No, Tate is genuine and doesn't resort to stale rhetoric or failed policies that never have worked. And Tate wants to destroy UM's opponents where as Obama wants to appease and give into them.
Tate represents real hope unlike Obama. I approve of the graphic.
You are a FreeRepublic poster. This explains so much.
Since you have now proven yourself to be the most ignorant dumbfuck on this board, I'm happy. This is the last time I respond to one of your posts.
P.S. You lost the election. Get over it.
Shouldn't you be off trying to invalidate the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate or something?
The rumor on FreeRepublic (I shit you not) was that Obama traveled to Hawaii right before the election to kill his grandma because she was about to go to the media with the REAL STORY about his foreign origins. So, unfortunately, the world will never know the TRUTH.
What's wrong with the Free Republic? As a Libertarian, I find it much more interesting than the garbage other media outlets spew out. I mean, there is MSNBC and CNN if you want Obama love orgy, and then there is FOX for death to Obama.
interesting, I guess. If you want to read the most extreme right wing take on, well, everything, I'm sure it's all good. I think Fox is the only truly biased channel (no presentation of the other side at all), while the others as biased to one side or the other on a case by case basis. E.g., Maddow and Olbermann obviously liberal, Scarborough, Buchanan et al. super conservative on MSNBC.
I hate all of them. I can't watch the 24 hour news cycle outside of primary/election season.
NO PRESENTATION OF THE OTHER SIDE?!
That's what Colmes is for!
Guy is such a joke. You just know Hannity wanted to pick the most frail, pathetic, dorky shrinking violet they could find to personify the "liberal."
And aside from him, I can't think of a single nod toward trying to actually be "fair and balanced."
the liberal media love affair with Obama is sickening
What a waste of bandwidth. I can way better sum up what that website should have said in one sentence: "More people voted for Obama than for the other guy."
This conspiracy theory stuff is pretty sickening.
LambChop could have been the Democratic nominee with Kermit as the VP and the Democrats still had a layup this time around. With the 8 years of royal fuckup that was Bush Jr. and Co., did anyone expect Republicans to win? Hell, nominating Palin was one of the most desperate and stupid moves ever. "Hey, let's distract people since we have no real economic plan other than trying the same shit that has failed for 8 years."
If your car isn't starting, do you sit around with your thumb in your ass and your dick in your other hand hoping it'll magically fix itself or do you get up and get some jumper cables? That shit is about as stupid and ignorant as the 9/11 conspiracy stuff. Everything is biased in the world, there isn't a damn thing that isn't. What you should find more sickening is that in this day and age, the backwardsness and stupidity of some your Republican friends.
Not to start a political debate and I didn't vote for Obama but do yourself a favor and pick up a book called "Guantanamo and the Abuse of Presidential Power" by Joseph Margiules(sp?), it's an easy read by one of the lawyers for the Hamdan case and a Northwestern Law professor. It's not biased in the sense that he's not a rampaging liberal, he presents a lot of facts from CIA reports basically stating that over some percentage (can't seem to recall the number) were not threatening people or we're swept up or captured by the Taliban and forced to serve for them (most of them were cooks and low level people, not "terrorists"). Most of it is just stuff like that, really interesting facts. I know a few supporters of Gitmo who after reading it realized how fucked up that place was and that it had little to no basis for existence. The funny part is there was a guy there were holding who had zero motor skills whatsoever, he was basically lambotomized on the battle field by a mine explosion, but was nonetheless deemed dangerous. There is another guy nicknamed Al-Qadea Clause--nearing 100 years old, couldn't walk without a cane, beard down to his belly, and was being held.
capturing suspected terrorists is like recruiting. Some are going to BE REALLY BAD and some will not. It's not a perfect science. But unlike rounding up suspected terrorists, recruits won't kill anyone. The worst they'll do is drop the football or miss a tackle. :)
trying to give facts to some people.
BTW, I predict thread deletion in a short bit.
Meh, it's a good book nonetheless. A random reader might benefit from it.
I've gone to see a few Constitutional scholars and lawyers involved in the situation speak. Conditions and the entire situation there is (was) just appalling. Needless to say, I'm glad it's one of the first things to go.
Are you in LS? I recommend you pick it up. I still have it if you'd like it.
Too busy right now, but I made a note of it. I may give it a read in my spare time. Thanks for the suggestion and offer, though. BTW, I just gotta ask - McCain voter, stay home, or a third party?
I'll be pissed if you political dorks get this thread deleted. My post below about Rick Leach's hideous freshman passing numbers does not deserve to disappear.
disappear too. Talk to the guy who started in on the inflammatory shit following an innocuous picture.
Completely innocuous picture? Give us all a break, please.
Stayed home. In my twisted mind I saw it as being a girl and getting boned by a guy who flatout told you he wasn't using a rubber and you had no say about it (McCain) or the asshole who fucks you and says he's wearing one but isn't (Obama). Besides, my views are too way over the place, even if I wasn't this cynical, to find an acceptable candidate. Looking back on it, gun to my head, I'd probably vote Obama just because of the issue on the economy (didn't Einstein say repeating the same thing with the same results over and over and expecting different results was the definition of insanity?) and that McCain has head his skin cancer come back how many times? He could croak any minute and the thought of Sarah Palin in office really fucking scares the shit out of me. Swift would have been a much better choice IMHO.
I wonder how many votes it cost him to name that empty-headed moron the VP slot. Combine it with the failure to release any meaningful information on his health records, as you said, and that probably sealed the deal for a good number or people. Or caused them to sit it out.
do you happen to be Indian?
I meant for Pro. RichRod. Inside information.
I hope Tate is as good as his admittedly biased HS coach thinks he is.
If Forcier plays as well as Rick Leach or Chad Henne did as true freshmen, RR could do that 3-9 to 9-3 turnaround this year.
I know that we are all being cautioned not to expect too much next year, but I think it is possible for them to go 9-3 and even beat the vile, evil Suckeyes.
has been a mixed bag. Henne was not that great as a freshman - better than navarre and mallett as freshman, but not as good as Leach.
Funny how time causes us to romanticize the past. As a freshman, Rick Leach completed 32% of his passes (32-100) for 680 yards, 3 TDs and 12 (!) interceptions. He could run (635 rushing yards that year), but was unbelievably bad throwing the ball. Of course, he got better later on.
I tend to believe a true freshmen pocket passer is different than a true freshmen dual-threat.
If a TF pocket passer has a bad throwing day on an away game or whatever, they can only hope the RBs play well.
If a TF dual-threat qb has a bad throwing day on away game or whatever, they still have many options.
Training with Bledsoe? Nice.
wow, when i last saw this thread last night it had about 3, maybe 4 comments. anyways, don't talk politics here. not only is it pointless to talk politics online but it will just make you get extremely pissed off and spill whatever drink you have next to you on your desk.
with that said, tate should be good. threet will be better. and as soon as denard gets in we'll have some serious insurance policies at QB. Oh, and then get one of those high profile 2010 QB's, preferably Devin Gardner.
It's threads like these that are the bane of the internet.
I once started a thread on another message board entitled "God Vs. Science" in reference to the name of a song (and the people who post on the board are well aware of this), and it still ended up turning into a 25 page thread with every random "you don't put a bunch of rocks into a bag, shake it up, and get a 747" argument and every Dawkins spaghetti monster joke imaginable.
Am trying to find a hs coach who actually bad mouthed one of his players.....nope that's not it. Not him either. Hmmmm. Can't find any.
hadn't gotten sucked in to reading this thread.
I was referring to the 1st half of the thread.
In case someone jumps in at the last part of the thread and wonders WTF I am talking about. :)
