Tate's got game

Tate is EVERYTHING as projected to be. He's got game. Add in some experience, (sophmore year), he'll be a top QB in the nation hands down.

Remember last year after the spring game, it was all about the mistakes the QBs did. Today it was opposite of that. To me, Tate just won the starting job. Sheridan couldn't drive down the field like that if it was vs a high school team.

On another note, I heard Newsome did horrible at PSU spring game. 3 for 15 or something?

Give me negative points

Top QB in the nation? While that would be nice let's be realistic, please. This was just a spring scrimmage where he took no hits and faced the #2 string defense.

Don't get me wrong, he looked impressive, but let's not go crazy.

Great passing skills. The play that sticks out in my mind is the TD to Roundtree.

Tate's throws looked great to us Michigan fans because we haven't seen a quarterback throw a reliably good ball in more than a year. Last year's quarterbacks were just horrible throwing the ball. I almost guarantee that Sheridan and Coner will never see a play this coming fall unless both Denard and Tate go down. There is that big of a difference in the way the 2 groups play and the abilities both possess.

By the way, how embarrased should Stevie Brown be that he got juked by Cone for like an 80 yard run. Our defense is going to be rough this year I am afraid.

I agree that a spring game does not count for all that much, but Tate looked good. He can really throw on the run with zip. I can see a lot of scrambles where he almost gets sacked but finds a reciever for a 3rd down conversion or TD. On the downside, Tate really is smallish. I was glad they were playing two hand touch on the QBs.

In other news - Carlos Brown is still really fast, and Big Will is absolutely huge.

I knew the otter was big, but there's a difference in seeing pictures online and seeing the guy in person. He's a monster.

On a related note, "seeing the guy" was a compromise between "seeing the man" and "seeing the kid" because he's eight years younger than me but could eat me whole...

By far the biggest d-lineman. He saw some reps with the first team.

Right now he seems to be just a space-eater. Not really a play-making disruptive force. I'm sure that will come with time. But as of today, he's not dominating anyone.

I saw him make three big mistakes. However, he was the best QB by far out there today. He is fast and he was hitting about 75% of the passes.

If they had been sacking I would rank him ahead of T&S last year, at the end of the year.

Since they were just tagging him, I am reserving judgment.

He did keep his head with the Big House full of folks.

As someone who went to high school with Sheridan, I know for a fact that yes, he can drive the ball down the field like that versus a high school team.

Regardless, your point stands.

I'm a Monroe county native too. I graduated from Erie Mason in 98. I was thankful for Bedford. At the time they were in the GLL. I got to watch them play Woodson when I was a Freshman (I think, could've been 8th grade). I saw Roethlissberger play at Bedford. My favorite though was when my brother was a senior at Mason, they played Detroit Crockett in the playoffs. Brandon Graham and John Thompson were both on the team.

UM doesn't even need a "great" QB right now. If Forcier is even competent, it would appear great compared to what we had to watch last year. Also note that DRob wasn't too concerned at how far "ahead of him" Tate is. I think the QB position might be in good hands again, no matter who plays.

As for Sheridan, if he has improved so much that he is better than Forcier is in the fall, more power to him. I just want to see whoever is behind center look like a major college QB again.

The schedule is easy enough that a team at UM's traditional talent level should go 9-3. Hopefully, they have gotten back to that level.

a lot stronger than on his HS vids. I think he mentioned that in one of his interviews. That 50 yard TD to roundtree looked like it was an easy toss. Looks like he might be able to go 65 in the air and keep some accuracy.

Oh yeah, his arm strength surprised me. Some of those downfield tosses looked effortless. Tightened up the spiral since some of the earlier videos, too. I'm pumped for September.
