McFarlin - thoughts?
You speak ill about our savior? You must know logic and reasonable expectations based on prior evidence don't apply to the supernatural.
True freshman come into college basketball and dominate all the time. This is not the case for quarterbacks, its a completly different beast.
I'm not saying Tate isn't going to be good, or help the team win, or anything. It would be silly to not think he will improve the QB situation. I'm just saying let's have reasonable expectations, he may very well be good, he may be great for a freshman, but freshman quarterbacks are limited in many ways (physicality, knowledge of the playbook, experience, etc). It's crazy to discount all of those and expect him to play beyond his years and led the team to the promised land.
He has a ton of talent. He works hard. He will be good (barring injury). But he is also a freshman and will play like one. Rational expectations are not a bad thing.
And how does my age have anything to do with my statement? If I were a bit older, I'd be more comfortable ignoring related evidence or something?
Tate will part the sea of defenders like Moses with a rod in his hand. He will float into end zones untouched by unworthy hands unable to touch greatness, but feeble hands reach none the less, like the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment. He will cast the pig skin towards the sky and it will drop in the hands of its intended receiver with pin point accuracy like manna dropping from the heavens. All will be dazzled by this young childs mastery of the offense that was made by his mentor, a one St. Rodriquez so long ago as was prophesied, "And a child shall lead them." Behold, UofM faithful, standing before you is the man-child who shall deliver you into the bowl season. His name is Tate Forcier, worship him!
Thank God, or Allah or some such combination that Tate cannot turn Pro for 3 more years.
It has been claimed that High School cost Ken Griffey Jr. 2 years of Major League Baseball time. I think a similar claim can be made for Tate and Pro Football.
Less reliable: McFarlin's opinions or McShay's 7-round mock draft?
Tate Forcier is going to be the greatest QB Michigan has ever had... and he will break not only all Michigan records, but all NCAA records as well....
Okay maybe I am exaggerating, but for real he will be pretty damn good compared to what we've seen the past year+. I think he has just as much upside as Ryan Mallett. His accuracy has been overlooked by the recruiting sites, and he makes up for his lack of size with his feet. Barring an injury, I feel he can make a big impact on the Big 10.
wore a tuxedo t-shirt and a wrist band with plays, 'cause you know, it shows he's classy, likes to party, and can still shread cover 2's.
Not buying it
Shun the nonbeliever, SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN.
When he does pushups, the world gets pressed down.
I thought that was Chuck Norris! and is that really Mcfarlin's Daddy or am I another one missing the sarcasm?
Except he doesn't even have to push. He just gives the world "the look" and it goes down all on its own.
That's why his arms are so thin. Pure intimidation.
What happened to the TATE FORCIER thread from earlier? Last I saw it, I had just replied that sometimes McFarlin makes sense. Goddamn that sounds strange. Anyway, seriously what happened? It's gone, unless I'm lost here.
I wondered that, too. Has McFarlin been banished?
i think his first thread Tate Forcier "Freshman Mistakes" was deleted. then he started TATE FORCIER then that one vanished too
His profile still exists, the thread (meaning McFarlin)must have went nuts.
I missed a McFarlin? It is like missing a Family Circus when your mom forgets to cut it out and put it on the fridge.
TO THE NONBELIEVERS.
BURN THEM AT THE STAKE.
Gonna need a link for this one.
I'd click like on this post.
I think Tate's upside is that he can be a Doug Flutie or Chase Daniel type. Despite his fake listed height, he is too short for the next level because NFL coaches imitate each other and nobody will give any QB under six feet a chance, but should be a fine college QB. He has a very good and very accurate arm and can run enough to keep defenses honest.
Most of all, though, he can throw on the run. As we have seen far too many times at the Big House, mobile QB's who can extend the play and then complete passes drive opposing coaches and defenses nuts.
However, he will have good competition coming in this fall and next, and will probably have to work pretty hard to keep the starting job for four years. If he is able to hold his competition at bay, though, I would expect three victories over OSU and maybe even an NC in '11 or '12.
But it is a tad early yet......
FWIW: Drew Brees is listed at 6'0", and I believe Troy Smith (*shudder*) is under feet feet tall as well.
*Note: I am not projecting Tate to become an NFL starter (at least not before he throws a pass in college ball).
But, as Lloyd Christmas would say, "so you're telling me there's a chance."
IF THEY MADE A SEQUEL TO 300 STARRING TATE FORCIER IT WOULD ONLY NEED TO BE CALLED "1" !!!
TATE FORCIER NEVER GETS SACKED HE JUST SCRAMBLES IN THE OPPOSTIE DIRECTION!!!!
DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS IN THE BIG TEN HAVE TO ADJUST THEIR CALENDERS TO GO FROM MARCH 31 TO APRIL 2, BECAUSE ITS IMPOSSILBE TO FOOL TATE FORCIER!!!
Awesome. I am ready.
Crap. Really? We need Greg "The Great" Paulus, then. He was basically the best high school quarterback of all time, ever. I hope he signs with MICHIGAN!
Ever wonder why no one talks about Chuck Norris anymore?
I must admit, I haven't called him since Tate touched down in AA.
Hmmmmm....I bet you guys see that too, don't you?
Tate and touchdown just seems to go naturally together.
AHHH MANNN, rose bowl here we come!!!!
