Tajh Boyd to Clemson, Jimmy T offers a IM a IM prospect.

Tajh Boyd has committed to Clemson. As a result, Jimmy T decided to offer a committed QB prospect, Austin Boucher, a scholarship. I don't understand it. If Pryor is his "man" then why try and offer a QB this class? I understand the point of having a viable back-up but wouldn't an upperclassman be a better back-up at this point (since the system would not be terribly new to them) in comparison to a prospect that is going to Miami of Ohio?

I don't think all is well in Buck-Nut land and clearly Jimmy has been the purveyor of Snake Oil this week!

These coaches have a specific plan for their recruiting. I don't know what their depth chart looks like, because I don't want to go blind. With this situation, it's better to have one than none. You never know what the kid will turn into, or how he can help. OSU has one of the best classes this year, and they're probably pretty sure on who they're going to get, so they can just fill the class out with anyone that won't require too much extra work.

tOSU had two QB's transfer over the summer (family values?) and have been left thin at the position. Their depth chart after the graduation of Boeckman includes 1) T. Pryor and 2) Joe Bauserman. Period. They need a body in this class in case Pryor "tweaks" a knee running out of bounds...

OSU's class is stacked, if they feel the need to take a QB on for depth, I don't think that's a bad move. I'd say, "Troy Smith was their last scholarship offered in his class", but I don't want to be accused as the ugly cousin of the "Pat White was a 2 star", exceptions prove the rule, crowd.

because he's already offered Braxton Miller (2011), which is going to make it easy for everyone and their mother to point at that and tell Devin Gardner (2010) that OSU doesn't have his best interests at heart.

So if he doesn't land a QB this class he's got to convince a 2010 QB to come in and not worry about the 2011 5-star, Top 10 QB coming in right after him.

and if Pryor leaves early, he's got even bigger problems.

You're right. In fact, we should stop recruiting Denard Robinson because we have Nick Sheridan and he's a junior, which is upperclass!

Provided either Pryor or Bauserman stay healthy, this isn't a concern.

And those two quarterbacks transferred because they knew they would probably never see the field - Henton due to Pryor's emergence, Schoenhoft due to being beat out on the depth chart by Henton.
