Sweet Sixteen Muppets

Michigan comfortably advances to the second weekend of the tournament. Yes, this calls for Muppets.
And you can't have one without the other...
BEAT DUKE hahahahahahahaha this weekend is great.
When I was a teen I took Michigan trips to the Sweet Sixteen for granted.
No more. They've earned the road they've gotten to take and they deserve this, but it's still awesome.
Hail to the victors valiant
we need the glenn block as a gif!
For 35 minutes, it was a clinic. We dismantled them. Gotta clean up those 5 minutes though, can't be letting teams back into it.
Yeah, sorta... But Texas isn't a nobody, and with how other favorites have fared in wins and losses, any victory is good. That Michigan looked mostly great is a bonus.
I mean it's unrealistic to expect a completely flawless performance but they never got closer than 6 I think in the second half. Overall great performance.
We got some rebounds...
Sweet Victory!
And then just head back to play defense. The ball had barely left his hands and he knew the result. Everyone else was left waiting.
how sweet it is
blaming Texas' youth. I guess starting 3 sophomores and a freshman with a 3 man bench that includes a freshman and sophmore isn't young.
I mean they weren't wrong. Texas is extremely young and they should get better as their PG diversifies his offensive game outside of floaters. I thought they were fairly even on praise for both teams even if it seemed like they didn't know Michigan that well (calling the 1-3-1 a matchup, saying "I can see now how this team went 15-3 in its league")
Michigan isn't gonna get any love for being young when the only guys on the floor for us that didn't have experience from last year's national title run were Walton and Irvin.
Cbs talking heads are talking about j-mo! Two double-doubles in a row... He's this year's mcgary! Ballin' hard!
Two straight years to the Sweet 16. Beilein, you are an excellent coach.
Smiles!
When muppets for a Sweet Sixteen is questioned or needs explanation, you know the bar has been seriously raised.
Swehrt sehrxtehrn!
Incidently, this was the same margin of victory as when MSU beat Texas (at MSU). Hmm...what does it mean...

at all... different time, different game

I'm 54. From 1985 through 1998 I took the NCAA for granted and never doubted we'd make the field, the only mystery was how far would we go. I saw three final fours in five years and thought we were destined to always be there.
I then endured the dark years from 1999 to 2009 and wondered if we'd ever get back here again. I had no interest in the tourny cause Michigan, year after year, was outside looking in.
Now we are back. TRULY back. NCAA appearances in five of the last six years and now we are marching into the sweet 16 and perhaps beyond. What Coach Beilein has been able to do with our team is nothing short of amazing. This is wonderful.
Once again.
I agree. There have been several "dark ages" during our time. The late 70's-early 80's were also very bad. But Bellein is the coach I've been waiting for for years. Go Blue all the way!
I dunno. Those teams were pretty damn good (Mike McGee and the Bodner twins would KILL for a three point line) but always a game or two away from making it.
I'm 46 and was a senior in '89. The possibility of not making the field never occurred to us. I did take it for granted that we would always be there. Never again!
Relevance is so much fun...
I used to not even pay attention until the Sweet Sixteen. My attitude was "Who cares until the Sweet Sixteen? If they can't make it that far, then they're not worth watching anyway." Spoiled entitled brat, I was.
Not anymore. Muppet away.
The field seems to be much more balanced in the past few years than what it was 20-30 years ago. I know there have always been upsets, but it does seem that many of these early round games are more competitive than they used to be and probably harder for teams to consitently make it to the sweet sixteen than it was decades ago.
amazing perspective and I appreciate your guys sharing it. Beilien is a stud of a coach; this recent string of success must be amazing to see relative to the lost decade mentioned, during which I was in UM purgatory (growing in ACC country prior to attending UM).
Awesome to find the right coach, at the right time and he does it the right way. Hail.
Chunkums you are amazing. So glad you're on our team.
Our own little LSU Freak.
Where have you been?
this doesn't get old!
The only way this season could have been a disappointment for me was to not make the Sweet Sixteen. That is done, now let's get greedy and keep it going.
I agree with you and Gordon
Did anyone catch Horford eating an apple during CBS' look-in to Beilein's locker room speech after the game?
Dipped in Green Tea and Honey, no doubt.
Apples are crazy!
muppets are for outperforming our seed

That is brilliant!
Never take a Sweet Sixteen for granted.

After seeing the endless close games and overtime games the last 3 days, we've had it pretty well. Sweating out while up 11 tonight and thinking we suck after winning by 17 on Thursday. I'll take it.
Couldn't be in a better mood now. GO BLUE!!!!
i'm just so pumped.
After surviving both McGary's absence and Gauntlet I/II, a win at Breslin (weird guys or not), an outright B1G title and a berth in the tourney finals, the Sweet Sixteen is a fine place to be. Anything else is house money from here on out. Go Blue!
Yay!
Watching it over and over again it's apparent that Nik put it right on the money. GRIII just high balled it and slammed it home. Didn't have to adjust his path at all
but imagine this team plus McGary.
Would downvote, but y'all won't let me
