where I argued your first point.
is there such a thing as an etsy genuis? if so, this is it.
where I argued your first point.
You argued my point about unseen bad passes. That is my first point. Or maybe your point was sarcastic? I can't tell anymore.
Your style of arguing is grating. I'm done here.
I'm so confused.
I think PRR is saying that your highlight reel argument is meaningless in the light of Forcier's completion percentage over the past two years - a more telling indication of his talent, at least in terms of accuracy.
In my opinion, Forcier's stats, in combination with some indication of the best he has to offer from the highlight reel, are fairly strong indications of his ability. Clearly, how well his game translates at Michigan is still an uncertain thing.
It is pretty disingenuous/lame to say that Forcier "misses 35% of his throws." A 65% completion rate is outstanding - even considering that yes, all quarterbacks throw some dumpoffs and screens - and spinning the converse is silly.
Brabbs - my only point is that a completion percentage, independent of seeing what he's doing, isn't telling the whole story. Tim Couch completed 70%+ of dinks and dunks. I'm not saying this what Forcier does - I'm saying I have no idea, and I refuse to base a conclusion of his overall ability using my over-whelming ignorance of talent evaulation and a selection of 25 of the 1000 throws he's made. Does that make sense?
Who will Rich Rod start game 1 next year, instead of who do we think should start game 1 next year. My prediction is Tate Forcier based on what I know about RR. He started Nick Sheridan over Steven Threet in game 1 this year. why would he do that? probably because in practice Nick Sheridan was a little quicker than Threet and also has better touch on the shorter passes. These are traits that are important to make RR's offense move the ball. Enter Tate Forcier. Much faster, and statistically veryaccurate, also w/ arm strength to stretch the D. I really have a hard time believing that after spring ball, and all of the fall practices lining them up side by side every day, RR is really going to pick Threet over Forcier. If you think of any 8 yard carries that Threet had this year, RR must think in the back of his mind that w/ Pat white, that would be 20, or a TD. excellent blocking can get a slower less elusive back into the second level, but after that the back needs to be able to create on their own. RR clearly has no problem playing freshman, and he clearly wants the best players for his system, regardless of experience. Change we can believe in.
Great post Placentasaurus. You hit the nail on the head. Just looking at pure ability and fit for the offense, Tate is defaulted to the starting spot.
i just dont see rod having the patience to keep playing threet while his qb of the future is sitting on the sidelines. he's not into slow transitions like that (as we know). threet isnt a long term answer; if he thinks forcier is the guy long term, he'll be the guy immediately
I really think the ideal fit for this offense would be a Troy Smith/Dennis Dixon type threat who stretches the defense first and runs for big plays second.
Of course, I might as well be asking for Peyton Manning. However, Forcier has the potential to be that kind of guy, apparently.
Cant really compare people on stars or anything like that. Its all ratings... Colt mccoy, sam bradford.. etc were all bad in ratings out of HS.
Its possible Forcier cud get into higher ranking if he wins state title, i believe hes in the semi-finals for next week. Tim tebow i believe didnt get bumped up or higher ranking until he won state championship.
Comparing Forcier to henne is crazy. Its possible he cud have arm ike him, noones seen him play too much...
But, I do know that his dad is putting him into hard workouts everyday.. Water aerobics, liftin.. etc Just to get him to be tim tebow like. Then Forcier working under barwis for 8 months, i think he'll get lot bigger n stronger.
Forcier might be one of the best freshmen qbs we seen in a long time. Most qbs workout 3-4 days a week, tate works out 5-7 days a week.
a Tebow type situation when he was sharing with Leak. Beaver or Forcier will be coming in on certain downs where Threet is not as good. Threet has more experience in the offense and will likely hold that edge for part of the season.
if tate was coming to ann arbor in june id say threet starts this season. But tates there NOW. i believe tate will start bc of it.
