Steelers Release Foote
The Lions NEED a middle linebacker.
I'm pretty sure that they need just about everything.
a new updated logo, im not saying they should change their colors or anything. just something more fierce and detailed
I would love it if they removed the black from the uniforms. It just doesn't fit.
Honest question: Didn't we sign a linebacker from Seattle (Peterson sp?)? So now we will have Sims, that guy and Foote? That LB core won't be bad. If only we have a rather large, rather dominant DT...
The Lions sent Cory Redding (who that had franchised) to Seattle to get the former Sparty, a very good pass-rushing LB.
That LB core won't be bad at all.
I was being sarcastic about the DT. WE HAD ROGERS! I still hate that we let him go for a 3rd round pick, that guy was dominant.
.....so, if the Lions had a pretty good idea that Foote was going to be coming available, this makes the new staff look a little bit smarter about its drafting, doesn't it? They'll have Peterson, Sims, Foote and the rookie from Wisconsin (Levy) in their linebacker CORPS, and got the QB, TE, and Safeties of the future, and two returners.
I like what Schwartz is doing. Improvement, and rational team-building, seem to be occurring in Allen Park.
I agree, I was bitching about their draft picks too, but if they get Foote then the LBing position just got way better.
Of course, when you suck as bad as the Lions do can any draft pick be bad? EVERY position needs an upgrade.
...that the picks can't always be bad when you stink.
I will say, though, if Matt Millen were in charge of the draft board this year, I'm pretty certain we would have seen two wide receivers picked with the top two picks, and Brian Hoyer picked at 33.
lets wait till they get foote first before we anoint lions the smartest team in the league
it's quite a leap from "rational team-building and improvement" to proclaiming the Lions the "smartest team in the league," don't you think?
It'll be a shame not seeing Foote's shout-outs to Detroit Pershing Dough Boys on primetime games.
